OOC:
Sorry, I'd been busy for a while, catching up now.
Popcorn grips her flail as she looks around the room. She points to the glowing crystals. "What are those?!?" she asks.
Aug 21, 2023 7:38 pm
OOC:
Could I get a nature check to determine the nature of the crystals?
Aug 21, 2023 8:12 pm
OOC:
Prompted by Popcorn, Bottlespeaker will also investigate. Ideally a nature check, can we aid each other?
Aug 24, 2023 5:53 am
OOC:
Sorry, now I am the holdup
Both Briarthorn the Roothless and Bottlespeaker examins the crystals from afar. There is clearly some magic at work that causing the vibrate and emit sound.

"If there is some sort of alarm, it doesn't appear to affect this door. Ready yourselves." Reaching Rings says. He pauses a moment, making sure all are ready, then he opens the door.

The concentrated smell of flowers in this spacious laboratory is somehow even stronger than it was upstairs. Long wooden tables along the south wall are covered with candles. A large, unlit stone fireplace takes up the room’s rounded southwest corner. The north wall features two rounded tables, one holding a cauldron of stew and the other riddled with burn marks and covered in wax. Similar scorch marks and splatters
appear on the floor at the center of the room, beneath a massive cauldron of gently bubbling wax. Next to the bubbling cauldron, a towering set of sturdy wooden shelves are laden with a hodgepodge of tools for candle making and alchemy. Three doors lead out of this room, two along the east wall and a third in the northwest corner.

The ceiling of this stone room is 15 feet high. Its central feature, the bubbling cauldron, is filled with jasmine-scented wax.

Darus
What in the nine hells are you doing here? Dumb twicks This charming speciment of human kind, is Darus, that you have been tracking. He is clearly not happy that you have disturbed his lair.
There are also two flying homunculus in the room.
OOC:
Briarthorn the Roothless goes first, then Darius+homunculus, and then it all players then Darius+homunculus

"Where are the Lavender Leshies?!" Briarthorn says upon seeing the door open and in direct response to Darus. As he moved forward, he unsheathed his blade, the arcane runes of it's potency flashed a warning as it's magic became ready to assist it's wielder in combat. Once he reached the door he pushed past Reaching Rings and into the room making his way to where Darus was standing in the room. Once in front of him he stared him down, the eyes sunk into his old twisted root and bark covered face unflinching as he looked up at him. This armored arsenal of arboreal anchors wanted answers, and fear or blade would seemingly be his methods for extracting it.
OOC:

Combat, ok, but it's too far to get to Darus in a single stride, and there may still be some talking to be done so...

OOC:

I think when Darus used that potion that was an interact action which has the manipulate trait. I think that means I get to make an opportunity attack against him. If it critically hits then it disrupts his action.

Other than that I have no way of mitigating that damage, so I am at 24/49 HP (unless he's disrupted and then one of his claw attacks may get changed out for another interact? I am not sure if he has another potion, or really what happens to the potion if I disrupt the action of him taking it? Does that mean the potion is wasted?)

OOC:
You are right, and I'm also learning now, and that is cool. Unfortunatly your hit is not enough to crit and stop him. Briarthorn the Roothless need to take his turn @Madclergy

The sound of snapping, tree bark clattering, a groan of pain, and then a snarl was all that could be heard from Briarthorn as the vicious attack carved into the roots that made up his body, somehow avoid the metal armor that adorned it.

"I gave you a chance!" Briarthorn roared as he lashed out at Darius with his longsword but as he did so he extended the roots of his hand so as to snag Darius by his clothes and pull him out of his stance, hoping he had put him off balance enough for a second swing of his longsword, before stepping back and leveling his longsword ready to parry any riposte the man brought at him showing off his masterful command of fighting skills.
OOC:

Action 1: Snagging Strike (Requirements You have one hand free, and your target is within reach of that hand.
You combine an attack with quick grappling moves to throw an enemy off balance as long as it stays in your reach. Make a Strike while keeping one hand free. If this Strike hits, the target is flat-footed until the start of your next turn or until it’s no longer within the reach of your hand, whichever comes first.)

Flat Footed Condition for Reference: You’re distracted or otherwise unable to focus your full attention on defense. You take a –2 circumstance penalty to AC. Some effects give you the flat-footed condition only to certain creatures or against certain attacks. Others—especially conditions—can make you universally flat-footed against everything. If a rule doesn’t specify that the condition applies only to certain circumstances, it applies to all of them; for example, many effects simply say "The target is flat-footed." Flat Footed Condition on Archives of Nethys

Action 2: Strike with Longsword (MAP -5)

Action 3: Dueling Parry (Requirements You are wielding only a single one-handed melee weapon and have your other hand or hands free. You can parry attacks against you with your one-handed weapon. You gain a +2 circumstance bonus to AC until the start of your next turn as long as you continue to meet the requirements.) (AC is now 23, Current HP: 24/49)
OOC:
EDIT!
Forgot about Sickened Condition, so that would be -1 to those attack rolls as well. And forgot to take my persistent damage and to recover

So, with those rolls, still on fire, and now down to 20/49 HP
