reading is good for kids!

Tanya has a sudden suspicion to the bird’s behavior. She confirms this when she finds tiny stitches on the bird's feathers, barely discernible at first glance. The size of the stitches are just big enough to insert a microchip.

As she observes this, her memory seems to be triggered, flooding her mind with a wealth of information about this particular type and species of pigeon. She recalls detailed knowledge about their dietary preferences, nesting habits, and even their migratory patterns.

Such as…

The pigeon is a member of the common rock pigeon species (Columba livia), known for its adaptability to urban environments.

These pigeons are omnivorous, primarily feeding on seeds, grains, and small insects…

I mean Tanya already did it but will roll to see home much Emilia notices.

Tanya then recalls reading an article about pigeons from a local ornithologist named Mats Tingblad. Even she has to admit that there is a limit to her own understanding, and that a trained expert could shed more light on this weird situation.

A little scared, but secretly pleased by the onrush of information, she gasps, showing the stitches to her friends.
"Look! They've been... Tampered with. Something has been inserted in the birds... This is no natural phenomenon..." she says in a conspiratorial whisper.

Then she cannot help but add, "plural: phenomena. "

"Oh no, did someone hurt you, little bird?" Robbie asks the pigeon when Tanya shows them the stitches. She turns to her friends. "Let's go to my parents' farm quickly so we can put him in a cage. We'll figure out what to do next then."

'I don't...I wouldn't dream..' Emilia goes slight red as she looks away with a huff, at least until they are shown the stitches.

'Did they like.. stick a sound box in there or something? There's voice do sound.. not like I'd imagine birds sound like. Not that I imagine what birds sound like.'

I think we can wrap up the scene.

The events that happen between now and the end of school tomorrow can probably be summarized. I imagine that the kids will want to continue investigating these strange birds, but they still have their everyday responsibilities.

Ultimately I need to know when all three plan on meeting together again after today. It’s also good to think about their motivation for pursuing the mystery ( I have my thoughts as to why each kid does if you are looking for some ideas)

We also need to know what they do with the pigeon, and if they spend any time between now and the next scene researching, asking questions, exploring, etc…

If you have an individual everyday scene for your character that you would like to play out, please let me know. I have some ideas for everyday scenes for later.

Ask me any questions you have about the story or information you need to help fill in the blanks!

Robbie would bring the bird home with her and lock him in a cage. I figure they probably have something like a rabbit hutch on the farm, so she would put him in there and give him some food, like chicken seeds and she might even dig for worms for him. Basically, outside of her chores and dinner, she'd then just spend a lot of time just talking to the bird, trying to figure out how smart it is (with or without the others).
I don't really have an idea for a scene to do right now. I'll definitely want to speak to Emilia's mom at some point, but that might make more sense later on when I'll need my anchor.

Something we’ll need to think on is where Robbie is able to speak with Emilia’s mom. Her mother isn’t home often, and Emilia herself doesn’t have many opportunities to speak with her. It will definitely become a point of tension between Robbie and Emilia because not only is Robbie getting time with Emilia’s mom, but Emilia is protective of her home life. She lets on that her life is much more glamorous than it truly is, and I doubt she’ll be happy with the possibility of that secret getting out.

I think the idea was that Robbie met Tyra because she's a transport driver who also transports things for the Åströms, so I think they would mostly interact when she comes by the farm during work

That makes perfect sense. Sounds good to me!

happy to close the scene, Tanya would accompany Robbie home to see the pigeon securely in the cage.
That night at dinner, she would ask her engineer/scientist Mom if she heard of anything like that, tests on birds to make them talk using inserted electronics...

I think Robbie wouldn't tell her parents about the voice, just that the pigeon is for a school project and not to worry about it and that she will take care of it.

Yep that was the plan I believe.
OOC:
Emilia will porbably be torn about meeting up with the others the next day and give a non commital answer, but curiosity will cause her to turn up..that and likely avoiding Izzy for a bit.

–The Rest of the Day–
The rest of the day unfolds in the following manner:

Robbie decides to bring the talking bird home and sets up a makeshift shelter for it in an old rabbit hutch. Her parents show curiosity about the new addition to their household but don't inquire much about it beyond making casual comments like, "I see you've made a new friend." Both of Robbie's parents are supportive, and it's her father who suggests repurposing the rabbit hutch for the bird.

Tanya decides to approach her mother. She asks if there are any experiments involving birds that use electronic devices to make them talk. Tanya's mother is appalled by the idea and finds it hard to believe that anyone would engage in such practices. Nevertheless, she seizes this opportunity to steer Tanya's interests toward STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), emphasizing the fascinating and beneficial aspects of technology in the animal world. She encourages Tanya to explore non-fiction books related to these subjects during her next library visit, rather than her usual fiction literature choices.

Emilia returns home to find an empty house, her mother busy with work. She's left to her own devices for the evening.
