Colten "hurries" after the boy. Except he never is hurried, because he is a nobleman. With long, leisurely strides, he follows, his cape fluttering behind him in the gentle breeze.

"Don't worry. I will look after him," Cori says to his mother as he throws on a shirt and grabs his pack.

Etch lumbers after Carp, moving faster and more urgently than Colten. When Cori shouts, Etch slows his speed and responds, "I think you will find I am too heavy for you to drag. I will slow my pace instead."

With everyone gathered at the edge of the woods Carp begins to lead you along a barely noticeable trail, easily ducking beneath branches, and deftly working his way through the thick undergrowth. In a matter of moments the excited young halfling has outpaced the group and you quickly lose site of the boy.

Etch picks up the pace, throwing caution and stealth to the wind and lumbering after the boy as quickly as he can manage. Trampling and forcing his way through the undergrowth.

While Cori frantically searches for traces of his younger brother, Colten and Etch both notice movement in the brush up ahead. Leaves fly and twigs snap as something zig zags through the undergrowth about thirty feet ahead. Behind the commotion two figures approach, "Get back here ya little brat!! We need to talk to you."

Colten takes a few graceful strides forward, hand on his sword's ornate hilt. A sword is truly a nobleman's weapon, for it is an unspoken threat that speaks louder than any word. With overwhelming confidence, Colten goes ahead to greet the two figures, whoever they might be.

The two men, initially startled by Etch's call out to them, quickly turn their attention to the tall armored figure. "That kid yours?" one of them asks. "He needs to stop poking his nose where it ain't belong." The second man notices Colten striding towards them. "Easy there, fancy boy. Wouldn't want ya to get hurt!" he warns as he slowly draws a beat up looking sword. "Or maybe I woulds!"
Just then you here more frantic rustling through the brush as Carp goes tearing between Etch and Colten, "Mooooommmm"
Two more figures can be seen in the distance approaching the first two.

"Is terrorizing children part of your modus operandi?" Colten said with a smooth tone, though clearly audible. The hand that rested on the sword hilt seemed relax, almost gentle. It's one thing to kill a bugbear or a goblin, but these are men.

Etch's shoulders click faintly as it bends them at an unnatural angle to smoothly draw the greatsword slung over its back, "If your wish is to harm another, I will be forced to exact justice upon you. Our quarry are the ones called red brands, are you they?"

"What do you think you were going to do to my brother?" asks Cori. He hefts the axe he is still carrying as his face and eyes begin to fill with a primal rage.

"Don't know" the other responds before pointing at Etch. "This one knows who we are. If he was smart at all he'd be running 'bout now"
The two other men join their friends and don't appear to be in the mood for conversation. "Let's just deal with these clowns and get back." All four draw their weapons and rush in.
If you haven't, roll for initiative, if you beat either of the bad guys rolls (which are 4, 8) go ahead and take your action. Delg, go ahead and resolve your firebolt, which you had triggered up.
