"Yes, Artesia. That cone of black basalt is an Apaku - that's what is animating all these swords. We have to deal with the cause rather than the effect"

Grom begins to chant and wave his arms wildly in the air as he strides towards basalt mound
OOC:
1 x action
Great gusts of wind begin to flow from his outstretched hands and whirl around the druid.
OOC:
Cast Gale Blast cantrip - 2 x actions

"Right, on it!" Koram says - he throws his hands up and and signals Haitith to fire a blast of lightning at the basalt cone. He weaves his spell with words and sends three missile made of force at the object.
OOC:
Actions 1-3: Magic Missile (3 actions/missile) while Haitith strides into position to hit it with his breath weapon next round, in such a way that he can try hitting it next round without affecting our allies

Rolls

Magic Missile Damage - (3d4+3)

(331) + 3 = 10

Feb 15, 2024 1:08 pm
Grom strides next to the apaku and a gale blast shoots out all around him. While it causes the effigy to topple back to the ground in huge clatter along with the shield, the black basalt cone seems to stand firm. Before you have time to react, the effigy gathers itself together and raises clumsily.
OOC:
Seeing the basalt taking no damage, you may change your action Koram. The effigy won't act until round 2.

Rolls

Effigy initiative - (1d20+11)

(11) + 11 = 22

Feb 15, 2024 6:55 pm
Kill the source! I'll manage the swords...
Igbork, seeing that he can't really do anything against the magical foes runs up to as many swords as possible and tries to draw their attention to him.
Come here, kitty kitty!!!
He also attacks the nearest one

Rolls

Deception (?) w untrained improvisation - (1d20+0)

(13) = 13

Short sword attack - (1d20+7)

(10) + 7 = 17

Potential damage - (1d6)

(1) = 1

Feb 16, 2024 8:09 am
"The source is not phased by damage!" Koram shouts, turning his magic upon the effigy itself.
OOC:
Same actions, but against the effigy :)
Feb 16, 2024 10:43 am
Igbork's slash hits the sword, though it's does little to pass through its natural hardness. Koram's magic missiles connect with the effigy and they seem to have an effect, as the force of the bolts make the creature stagger backwards. The swords start attacking.

The first sword strikes back at Igbork, he also catches the attention of two of the other swords. The first one misses, but the second is able to connect. The last one flies at Haitih however and hits the eidolon.
OOC:
The swords needs to use 2 actions to reach you, and I'll say the last one attacking Igbork was in the opposite direction, so it will take all three.

Igbork takes 3 damage and Haitih 5 damage. Both of you need to make Fortitude saves.

Grom is up.
Round 2:

Igbork 22 -3 hp

"Not good, not good. Nothing else for it..., Grom grabs hold of the black basalt cone and intones words of arcane power as he attempts to dispel the magic at work.

As Grom weaves the magical energies that goes out from the apaku, he is able to cut one of the strands causing the swords to fall down. The strand animating the effigy seems to be too advanced for Grom's magic to do anything.

The creature strides up to Haitith and as it does, a red light starts shining where its eyes would have been had it been a humanoid. As they light up, fear starts swelling up in all of you.

It then slams down on the eidolon with a gauntleted fist.
OOC:
All of you need to make a DC 18 Will save:
Critical Success The creature is unaffected and is then temporarily immune for 24 hours.
Success The creature is frightened 1.
Failure The creature is frightened 2 and is fascinated by the effigy until the end of its next turn.
Critical Failure As failure, but frightened 3.

The last d6 in the attack will only damage Haitith if he fails his Will save and become frightened.

You are all up again

As Haitith takes the incredible blow from the effigy, Koram feels the pain wrack his body. He sends out another trio of force bolts at the effigy while Haitith strikes at it with his powerful jaws.

You only rolled for one of you, so you will need to see if the other one is frightened as well.

The rest may still do your three actions. Nothing in the description of Fascinated prevents you from attacking it.

Edited into my post, my apologies! Thank you for the reminder. Looks like a failure on the other roll.

Grom is entranced by Apaku and feels the fear it emanates in his stomach. ...What to do?...

Grom streteches out his ams as if about to embrace the Apaku. He stammers out some illegible words and of a sudden hordes of insects swarm the black basalt cone, nibbling away at the hard surface.

Fenris howls menacingly by the Druids side
OOC:
Grom is not expecting the insects to do an awful lot of damage to the Apaku. Rather, he is trying to see if the insect swarm interferes with the magic emanating from the basalt cone!

OOC:
Sorry mistook fascinated for being charmed. Added an action to Igbork's post. Very successfully if I may say so

Igbork gets in behind the creature and is able to hit with two well aimed slashes of his sword. The second of which makes a big tear in its armor. It seems his slashing weapon is superior to other physical attacks.

Igbork’s magical rays connect. Haitith tries to follow up with a blow, but the effigy barely dodges his blows, even though they have the creature flanked.

Artesia maneuvers deftly and is able to belt the effigy with bone shards without hitting her allies. However, being at the edge of the effect, the effigy is able to dodge the worst of the effect.

Grom’s attacks seem to have little effect on the black basalt cone.

The effigy follows up with one attack at Haitih and two at Igbork. All three connect, making a big gash in Haitith as well as bringing Igbork unconscious.
OOC:
Igbork, you would be able to get into flanking and add sneak attack. I rolled for you to save time and got a 4 on both attacks.

You are all up again

Koram nearly crumples at the attack against Haitith, pain hitting him like a brick. He manages to straighten himself and gather his wits, even as he barely remains conscious.

He raises a hand and summons arcane magic to increase Haitith's strength, and asks his friend to go all in on the attack.
OOC:
Koram/Haitith are 2hp :|

Haitith's primary attacks are electricity based, if that makes a difference.
