Session 0 and Character creation

Before we begin I have a very important announcement for those who are used to gamersplane atyle of games this will not be a typical game.
Players will be allowed to roll any dice out of combat. PHB rule

Thais will include initiative rolls. Once initiative is rolled we will switch to a different thread where combat will take place as usual for GP - players will be doing all the attack and damage rolls on their turn.
Given amount and the influence of reaction abilities a LVL 15 PCs could have I will see to add reaction windows to the combat game peace and other means to allow players interrupt combat at any moment.

If you are still with me after learning the above, go ahead and roll your ability scores 4d6h3 6 times. If you roll terrible you can go for buy instead. And read the rest of character creation rules here

I am thinking of going Changeling Sorcerer/Warlock. Initial draft was kind of a glass cannon but had some healing for utility. We'll see how it goes.

Questions time:

What’s your rules on using Ring of Spell Storing? Can a normal familiar use it? If not, would you allow a familiar like Tressym?

Can we use double-bladed scimitars (if we play an elf)?

Strixhaven and Ravnica books allowed (they’re official, but I know some people hate them)?

In this game anything that does not go directly against 5e rules and is of a benefit to players are fine by me, just please share that when I am surprised "how do you do that"- I may not know all of the lvl 15 PC shenanigans, especially combined with rare items.

I'm wanting the familiar to use the Ring of Spell Storing to cast a buff (Haste for the PC/party), and then it'll hide inside a Bag of Holding. It likely won't do anything else (in battle), as familiars are always super weak.

My eyes were too distracted by the 17 and 16. Okay, yeah, maybe I'm not so sure about those stats lol. Still... might be able to put them in like str and cha maybe. I dunno lol. I'm going point buy for sure. 10 on the starting gold is nice for all the spells and components though.

I live with the stats. I really needed 3 high stats due to multiclassing. Such is life. Haven't thought even about a familiar.. :)

@GeneCortess as long as you satisfy 5e rules on multiclass I am happy for your choice.
everyone can also roll that 1d10 for gold though honestly except for a wizard don't know how you can spend this much shopping.

I asked about a tressym earlier, I think he said it was fine. I guess we’ll have a litter of tressyms lol.

All my gold might need to go to spell components. Some of these components are pretty costly.

I guess so far we have a sorlock, a hexblade, and a rogue/wizard?

So we got the blaster and the sneaky sneak roles covered it seems.

My hexblade will be flat out melee. He won’t be able to tank the way a real martial can, since he won’t have the the HP and AC of a real tank, but he’ll dish out damage. I’m also using my rare item to give a Ring of Spell Storing to my familiar, who will cast Haste to the party when possible (warlock only has 3 spell slots per short rest, so may not be able to refill the ring every time).

Maybe dip into a multiclass a bit, still thinking about details.

You can't buy any additional magic items on top of what is already granted.
You can purchase spell components, any non magic items, vehicles, mounts, etc.
