Zrukz stay to watch stairs. I will watch stairs. We don't want undead running past us, do we? Please keep me updated

Aramil carefully goes further in, trying to make sense of the room, its layout and its purpose.
OOC:
Throwing a bunch of rolls just in case they are necessary for that. Feel free to ignore.

Rolls

History - (1d20+2)

(20) + 2 = 22

Perception - (1d20+4)

(5) + 4 = 9

Aramil, you move further into the rooms. One room contains row upon row of pottery animals that were made from the ashes and ground bones of the deceased. Another contains thousands upon thousands of disarticulated bones hanging by thin wires from the ceiling so that no two bones touch each other. Being a high elf, you've heard more stories than most and you've heard tales of various mostly harmless funerary cults having flourished over the centuries in this area. You suspect that these rooms, including the strange bone pit, have been reserved for them.

You move to the final room and the smell of wood smoke almost overpowers you. Every surface is stained jet black with soot that must have come from the two great iron braziers on the floor. The walls are lined with almost perfectly preserved bodies—black from the same soot that stains the walls. They might almost be mistaken for mummified drow were it not for the different colors of hair. Several corpses, however, have been ravaged by something. They lay in the center of the room, torn apart, their flesh and bones gnawed by some ravenous creature. They are definitely not part of the work of any funerary cult that you've ever heard of.
OOC:
I would like a perception check from everyone that follows Aramil

Pierce nods to Zrukz when he realizes his small companion is staying to watch the exit. He navigates alongside the pit, and upon entering the room with the braziers and seeing the mutilated corpses will look around for signs of imminent danger.

OOC:
I'll be nice since I let the NPC with the lantern stay behind
Pierce, Cassyt hands you her lantern and casts a light cantrip one a ring on her hand to illuminate the room for her and Zrukz. You easily navigate around the pit and enter the room a few steps behind the rest. You turn your head and look at the bodies lining the wall. Dead, charred...well...wait...most of them are dead, but you realize that 5 among them are not. Not fully anyway. You recognise the type of undead as some you encountered underneath Sokol Keep, there are 5 ghouls hiding among the deceased.
Nov 8, 2023 3:05 pm
"To arms! Ghouls hide amongst the bodies!"

Rolls

Initiative - (1d20+4)

(12) + 4 = 16

Nov 8, 2023 3:15 pm
Upon hearing Pierce's battlecry, the ghouls all start to move towards the group.
OOC:
Rolling initiative! The ghouls will act first, but I won't have time to do so until later tonight. @runekyndig,@htech Initiative in this game will be shared among the PCs, which basically just mean that any PC can act in a free PC initiative slot. Does that make sense?

The ghouls swarm forward and starts to bite and claw at Vess, Aramil, Augustin & Pierce. Vess, Aramil & Augustin, you manage to fend off the ghouls targeting you. But Pierce, you feel the bites and claws pierce (no pun intended) through your metallic body.

Aramil, you go to swing with your main arm but the ghoul pushes it aside and your swing misses. The distraction however allows you to give it a cut with your off hand.
OOC:
Really poor attack rolls. Pierce, you take 12 points of damage. Please give me a DC 10 constitution saving throw, the effect is not mechanically a poison, so you shouldn't have resistance.

Everyone else gets to act.

Pierce, upon being beset by these foul creatures, hastily enacts the Shield spell to buy himself a moment of respite.

Realizing he still holds the lantern and hasn't yet drawn his crossbow, the crystaline gem centered on the chest of Pierce's armor crackles briefly and there's a whiff of ozone before an arc of lightning shoots toward the ghoul that attacked the metal combatant. In a flash, the arc goes wide and grounds out against the soot covered stone wall.

P.S. My bad, I missed the fact that there is almost 100 feet long empty hallway till the rooms they just entered. Was hoping to participate combat with my 120 feet range spell, but not this time.
