Vaun's Educated analysis says:
Vaun looks confusedly at the events. He couldn't make up his mind about whether to help the elemental or to let the vegetation have it's way. Is there an esoteric order of things that needs to happen? Some kind of mystic phenomenon? Is there some process taking place? He focused his thoughts on trying to understand what was going on.
The elemental is an independent spirit with its own thoughts and feelings. The plants are currently infecting the elemental, though to what end you know not. If it was not an elemental there would be not reason for the plants not to grow, but currently they have infected the elemental and are hindering and possibly killing it. The elemental clearly does not want the plant in but the plant equally obviously targeted the elemental. So it comes down to which side you feel should prevail.
OOC:
Any particular reason you are only doing a single action? Standard combat is 2 actions a round. I know you are not in combat with the plant, but the elemental basically is.
The elemental continues to struggle to free itself of the plants growing inside of it but the infestation continues to grow and the elemental is becoming weaker by the moment.

Elemental Save Test - (2d6)

OOC:
I was treating the plant like it was a trap instead of a combatant. It's good to know we can use two actions.
Barley swings his sword again, aiming for the tethering tendrils, then he gets an idea. Standing back, he targets the tendrils with his mind and they start to heat it.

Rolls

Sword swing - (2d6)

(32) = 5

Pyrokinetic Storm - tendrils - (2d6)

(23) = 5

OOC:
Terrible rolls, must be the low light, lol.
Jan 3, 2024 1:23 pm
The situation was too complex, and the ambient darkness along with the confusion didn't let Vaun make a clear logical distinction. He gave up trying to piece the puzzle and attacked the vegetation, trying to engulf the elemental.

OOC: Sorry I didn't know that we were resolving the attacks in combat turns. Rolling the second attack now.

Rolls

Attack roll - (3d6)

(352) = 10

OOC:
It is not quite combat, so I am fine either way. I was more curious how you interpreted the situation. I am awaiting Rhidon before progressing the story.
Jan 4, 2024 1:16 pm
Feeling his axe work isn't cutting it, Rhidon shifts strategy and attempts a series of kicks to try and separate the growth long enough for the elemental to possibly escape the sprouts.

Without any proper bushwhacking tool, Beruga will join Rhidon in trying to pull some of the sprouts out of the elemental to free it.

Ooo some success! Maybe you learned from Rhidon's form lol

You all move to help the elemental rid itself of the seed growths but its struggles make this difficult. Vaun and Beruga manage to dig into the connecting tendrils and the elemental tries to pull free with a massive effort

Rolls

elemental Save Test - (3d6)

(552) = 12

Pulling free the elemental steps back then focuses a massive blast of water to wash all the seeds and wriggling sprouts as far from it as possible.

With the way clear the elemental proceeds to the next room and as you enter your light spills over a swarm of creatures, with plants growing into and over them similar to the gnome, surge towards you squealing and howling. The swarm includes four massive rats, two giant wasps, and a thin humanoid figure dressed in a tattered robe.
Jan 5, 2024 7:47 am
Vaun almost jumped at the sudden onslaught but he immediately reoriented himself from the confusion and drew his dagger. "We have vermin here; be careful, everyone!" With his dagger unsheathed he slashed at one of the giant rat.

Ooc: Making 2 attacks on the giant rat.

Barley jumps back in surprise and then raises his hands in front of him. He lets out a yell as his hands glow with an intense light. The air around the rats and wasps starts to shimmer as it heats up.
OOC:
I'd like to roll Pyrokinetic storm twice. I am trying to hit all 4 rats with one blast and the wasps with the other. Let me know if this is OP, if it is, I'd like to concentrate on taking out the rats instead.

Rolls

Pyrokinetic storm - rats - (2d6)

(64) = 10

Pyrokinetic storm - wasps - (2d6)

(54) = 9

Vaun slices 2 of the rats, one of which he neatly severs it's spine and it falls motionless. Barley finishes off the other wounded and hit flare of psychic flame knocks a wasp from mid air with its delicate wings shriveled, but it crawls on mindless of the injury.
OOC:
Nice crit by Vaun. All the critters are 2 HP to take out
Jan 5, 2024 8:11 pm
Rhidon runs up to the figure in the tattered robes, and strikes it twice with his nunchaku. We will make quick work of this swarm! he thinks to everyone, trying to mask the fact that he's generally creeped out by these infested creatures.

Rolls

Strike with nunchaku - (3d6)

Beruga's fur bristles in surprise and she lets out a loud defensive CHIRP!!! before unholstering her morning star and heaving a focused attack towards one of the infested wasps.

Barley, can you command the elemental to help us?

She feels uneasy that her companions have all chosen to prioritize attacking the large rodents first, but does not mention it in the heat of battle.

Rolls

Morning star attack against wasp (focused) - (3d6)

(236) = 11

Morning star attack against second wasp (unfocused) - (3d6)

(335) = 11

The humanoid barely flinches at the blow from Rhidon but Beruga crushes the last wasp from the air.

The other wasp quickly crawls up the Beruga and tries to sting her while the last 2 rats lunge at Barley and Vaun with their oversized teeth. Vaun is unable to move quickly enough and the rat sinks its teeth deep into his calf, holding on tight! The tattered man(?) slams both arms into Rhidon.

Beruga, roll a Save Test, 2d6, or become lose 1 action a round, 2 damage from stinger & poison

Rolls

wasp vs Beruga (any 6 inflicts poison) - (2d6, 2d6)

2d6 : (43) = 7

Vaun screamed at the savage bite of the rat, pain racking through his entire body and making him tremble. He took his dagger and continued to stab the rat so that it would release it's bite and let him go.

OOC: I would have loved to heal but the healing trait says that I can't heal myself. So, I guess I will probably continue to attack.

Barley jumps back from the rat thing and his hands continue to grow. He snarls and throws one forward towards it hoping to turn it into a rat fritter, a very well done rat fritter.

Pyrokenisis again and a pre-emptive evade
