Starring at the new cut, the brown mouse girl huffs in disbelief that turns into anger. Taking a quick step to the side, Hazel turns and shoots her attacker right in the kisser. She huffs agitated: "Mess with the best, crumble like the rest!"

Hazel's aim is true, and her arrow strikes the skeleton's skull directly, dislodging it from its bony frame. The detached cranium soars through the air before landing some distance away, leaving the rest of the animated bones to crumble lifelessly to the ground.

Bay hits out with her trident at the most-damaged-looking skeleton that is within her range...

EDIT: Here's hoping that the most-damaged-looking skeleton within her range had only 1HP left....!

Bay whirls around with her trident, directing her attention to the skeleton locked in combat with Sky. With a swift and precise strike, she pierces the skeletal form. The skeleton emits a bone-chilling shriek before collapsing to the ground, defeated.
OOC:
1 damage is all you needed. Skeleton 1 collapses! - Also narratively, I believe that Bay would want to come to Sky's assistance. :)

Sky still gets to act.
OOC:
Recap of the situation:

There is one skeleton (Skeleton "5") prone near the tied up mice. Captain Mortimer is also right there with Blossom over his shoulder.

Skeleton "2" is behind Gideon.

Skeleton "4" is prone in front of Gideon. Gideon is badly wounded.
Captain Mortimer is going to attempt to dash to the row boat with Blossom.
Dec 29, 2023 7:56 pm
"Gideon!" shouts Bay.

"Can you cast your grease spell again on the pirate ship? Maybe we can get that to go up in flames too? Or if it's too far away, the row boat?"

"I'll watch your back...!"

If Gideon can do this, Bay is prepared next turn to rush at skeleton 2, to try and get it to attack him rather than Gideon...
Dec 30, 2023 9:15 am
Sky dashes towards Gideon and fells the skeleton behind him with one mighty slash of her sharp blade. Losing their ... friend?...taskmaster?...well, losing Gideon just won't do right now. She is aware of Blossom being mousenapped, of course, but guesses the distance is too great to catch the captain and save the adventuring mouse at the same time. With all her might and all the air left in her lung she cries: "Hold on, Captain! Hold on for palaver and trade! We know where the treasure is. We have the traitor, Filmon. Come back here, and we'll make a deal!"

Although she has no intentions to aid such a despicable pirate, Sky needs him to bring Blossom back into their reach. This is their second chance to save the pup and they have to succeed, come what may.

Sky's sword swings with precision, crashing down on the skeleton. The bony figure splinters and crumbles to the ground, sending bone fragments scattering through the air.

As Gideon prepares to respond to Bay's command, Sky's words reach the ears of the Captain. He halts near the rowboat, stopping just short of boarding. Sky has deftly tapped into the Captain's deeper interest—treasure. In response, the Captain calls back, a hint of suspicion in his voice, "How be I knowin' this ain't some clever trick? Ye best be providin' me with assurances."

The skeleton by the other tied up mice and the one in front of Gideon begin to slowly rise.

"We'll talk with you, Captain!" she shouts. "But having seen what these here skeletons can do, there's no way I'm leaving any of them standing to harm any of us, unless I see you ordering them off us..."

And with that, Bay continues her wrathful protection of Gideon - whirling around and striking the other skeleton near Gideon with her trident...

Bay's trident crashes down with a mighty wallop, turning the skeleton into a scattering of bones. But the wily Captain Mortimer, sharp as a cutlass, orders the lone standing skeleton to stay put, using the threat against them tied-up mice to his advantage.

"Spill the cheese, ye scurvy mice! What is it that you propose? I still hold the high ground. A word from me lips, and me skeletal mate there can turn on them poor mice. I'll be takin' meself away quicker than ye can say 'yo ho ho'," warns the Captain, makin' the air as tense as a rope pulled tight.

"We found the treasure!" shouts Bay, who holds up the disfigured gold coin.

"If you let your captives free, if you send your crew member here back to your ship, we'll lead you to the where we found this."

"We don't really care about the money, we just want these mice to be back in safety...!"

Aiming at the last standing Skeleton, Hazel keeps quiet and waits what the captains decision will be.

Captain Mortimer smirks, "Ye put Mr. Filmon near them tied-up mice. Me skeleton mate'll stroll over and fetch this lass slingin' her over me shoulder. He'll plop her by them tied mice, and then collect Mr. Filmon. He'll make a fine addition to me crew. Once that's done, ye can spill the beans on where the treasure lies, and we'll part ways, savvy?"
Jan 4, 2024 9:13 am
Bay turns to the others and speaks quietly to them:

"We've got to get the captives away from them!"

"I don't think we can trust the captain to release them, even if we give him what he wants - he'll just take them back to his boat and carry out that awful ritual he is planning."

"One of us could try and creep up behind him, while the others keep him distracted, and then we try pushing him over, pulling Blossom away from him, and hitting him again with grease and fire...?"

"But that feels like a very risky plan - any other ideas?"
Jan 6, 2024 12:23 pm
Lending Bay an ear, Hazel whispers back while her tail swishes around without pause: "Yeah, let us bring an end to this cluster-trap." Sky grips the handle of her blade with intent and nods her agreement.

Turning towards the captain, the brown archer tries to summon an artsy tremble in her voice as she shouts out: "Don't hurt them - they are mice you're playing with!" Adjusting her voice for a moment while hanging her head in deafet: "Take the necromouser, but let the rest of them go! You win!"

Turning to the side, the rivermouse tripples a few steps to the side, getting a better line of sight towards the remaining skeleton, while she whispers to Gideon: "Keep your scrolls at the ready."

Sky fetches Filmon with a dramatic gesture and brings him forward by the tip of her sword. Much like a pirate making a prisoner walk the plank.

The moment Filmon is close enough Sky cuts his bonds and shoves him against the dreaded Captain. Using the distraction Hazel shoots the remaining skeleton, while Sky gets ready to filet all remaining bones.
OOC:
Spoke to Adrastheia and she is on board with this solution.

Sky, Bay, and Hazel's coordinated assault swiftly dismantles the remaining skeleton, prompting a cheer from the tied-up mice. Seizing an opportunity, the Captain tosses the momentarily stunned Mr. Filmon into the boat. With quick thinking, the Captain leaps into the boat, and it starts to float away.

The captain shouts "You’ll pay for this! Mark me words you will!"

Putting her paws to her side, Hazel grins hat her friends with a joyfull heart: "Well that's what I call an adventure! Puzzles, fighting the undead, a treasure and now even a reoccuring villain! Rodents - we are the best!" Still grinning she adds laughing: "Next time we need to rescue a prince to fullfill all the cliches." Putting her hand before her small snout, Hazel shakes with laughter while thinking about that.

Turning towards the fleeing dead, the brown archer shouts while waving enthusiasticly: "Bon voyage captian! We will be thinking of you while we revel nakedly in the piles of gold coins until the morning comes!"

Seeing the old skeleton vanish with Mr. Filmon in his boat, Hazel sighs with relief. She loves it when a plan comes together. "And now comes the fun part: Let us see if we can pilver some of the treasure."
