We've had 5 for initiative every round, right? Wow.

I suspect that she is, and if that is the case, I would seek permission to bring in a new character. Old school was notoriously deadly!

'fraid so. Cure light wounds only works on living characters. Zero hit points = death.

Sure, go ahead. If you want to jump straight back into the action, you could adopt Johann, the slightly singed gnome. Or feel free to create a brand new character in the "Session Zero" thread. Either way, your new character will inherit half of Jessica's experience points (that's a house rule to ensure that we maintain some sort of progression).

Rolls

Wolves' initiative for round 3 - (1d6)

(4) = 4

Three-way Fight - Round 3
The Hellions win initiative.

Gabbro jabs once more at the injured wolf, but Jessica’s Bane dodges nimbly to one side. Unfortunately, it dodges straight into Ricard’s blade, which takes its head clean off.

Only one wolf remains. Luther is in melee with it and may attack. Pickles, Johann and Bob are not in melee, but may shoot at a penalty of -3 and the risk of hitting a fellow Hellion should they miss (or move into melee).

"Raaaaaagh!" screams Ricard as he mettes out his revenge upon the wolf!

"Hack the bone! No quarter!!"
Apr 2, 2025 8:52 pm
Pickles calm and cold face is exaggerated by the flicker flames lighting the room, the dull light barely reflecting off the surface of his unblinking eyes. The slight upturned lips in a passive and slightly sinister smile.

Again the Halfling shuffles on his feet as he finds a gap to target the remaining wolf, releasing as one opens . . .
OOC:
11+1 (short range) -3 (through crowd) = 9 (hitting ac8)

Luther seeing Jessica go down yells "NOOOO!" He will attack the remaining wolf with his mace. Feeling a solid connection with his mace he will pull back and bring up his shield.

Three-way Fight - Round 3 (continued)
For once, Pickles is off-target. But only just. His arrow grazes the remaining wolf’s flank, but doesn’t cause significant damage. Nor, importantly, does he hit a Hellion.

However, Luther does land a blow with his mace, striking the wolf squarely across the top of its back. It yelps in pain.

(Gabbro - you rolled previously for your attack this round, missing. As I am a kind and generous DM, I’ll let you carry your roll forward to the next round, if we get that far).

I will now make a morale test for the wolf to see if it continues. I’ll also roll to see who it will attack if it decides to fight to the death (1=Gabbro, 2 = Luther, 3 = Ricard), and the details of that attack.

Three-way Fight - Round 3 (continued)
The lone wolf fights on!

It retaliates at Luther, snapping at his mace arm, but the cleric intervenes with his shield to block its attack.

That concludes round 3 - please roll initiative for round 4.

Three-way Fight - Round 4
Despite its injury, the now frenzied wolf attacks once more …

However, clearly it's tiring and Ricard, the intended target sidesteps, easily.

The Hellions are up. Gabbro has already rolled, and pierces the wolf with his spear for 4 damage.

Pickles slides sideways looking for a gap as his brain registers the arrow he had automatically notched and draw, after berating himself for missing. He shakes his head, slows his breathing as he stead’s his hand before releasing another shaft . . .

Rolls

To hit, damage - (1d20, 1d6)

1d20 : (19) = 19

1d6 : (4) = 4
