BBEG chapter

Dec 28, 2023 3:19 pm
After completing the "test" you call your the rest of the party who were waiting outside guarding entrance and now all 7 of you gets down the stairs and enter a round room with 4 doors. This place is illuminated by magic light coming from every peace of the wall making those of you who are concentrating on detect magic a bit dizzy. You see no handles or key-locks on the doors.

You guess that in this place - designed by a wizard - all doors opens and close by means of magic.

Even before everyone reach the floor one of the 4 doors start opening and you see a demon through it. It's a large creature with wings and 4 arms holding different human weapons in each. Demon has spotted you just as you see him and is aiming to attack

Not important this time, but I just want everything to be clearly defined.

Giving Bajaz a dark look, Bhrok spits out in frustration and restrengthen his grip around the huge blade's hilt. This is a time the ranger could really shine. Swinging his axe against numerous enemies is a speciality of his. And the Oooh-so-valuable spell of the warlock, Bajaz moaned about just a few seconds before! Used to block a door against some barley threatening undead. What f*cking waste.

But the man pays them to follow him through this bizarre hunt. So... Turning to the door in the east, the huge half-orc strides forward and treis to discern how to open the damned thing. With a bit of luck, there would be some other foes, where the man from the Kingdom of Many Arrows could play to his strength. Overcoming invisible foes isn't one of them.
OOC:

Move: g7
Standard: perception.
Bonus: -

Bhrok carefully study east doors - they appear to be well made iron doors. Brook notice tiny scratches proving the doors are opened by sliding them left (into the wall). He try to slide them with hands, but no matter how hard he try - iron is too plain and doors are locked. To put more force and break the door open he find a scratch on the right side big enough to put an end of a sword into it - he can push the sword against the wall...

Grumbling noncommittally, Bhrok seems okay with the effort the paladain had put into prying open those heavy doors. But sometimes it has to be orcish muscle. Nothing anybody else could do about it. The OG of muscles.

Planting his feet wide while rolling his bulking back-muscles, the ranger takes the crowbar and puts his weight behind it to force those f*ckers wide open.

But the damned thing wouldn't move even a finger wide. "It is walled up from the other side." the proud half-orc announces with a bit of a huff in his voice before putting the crowbar away and picking up his sword determined.

Surprising an enemy by stabbing him in the back is hands down one of the best feelings you can get. But you also have to know when to change your plan. Now it is change of plan time.

Before roughly pushing past Bajaz, the half-orc vanishes and assumes a combat-ready pose to the left of the entrance, while waiting for his furry friend Sky to reveal the location of their shared victim.

Thank you for the healing, again. We likely have 3 or 4 opponents. My familiar can see in the east room, it is connected to the South via that tunnel. We should leave the door alone for now. The invisible one concerns me. We need a way to mark or trap him. I can make a net or fill an area with energies to eat away the life of the enemy but I need to know what the plan is. the last is in a tone of slight frustration (Likely at his own earlier mistake and the current chaos)

With a ROOOOAAAAR that could shake the foundation of a lesser city, the warrior from the Kingdom Of Many Arrows bursts forward and looses his invisibility. Swinging the Greatsword twice in brutal arcs to split his foes where they stand. "I make you bleeeed, you c*nts!" he bellows at the top of his lungs. Say one thing about Bhrok the Glorious - say he is a well spoken bastard.

Let me try to run this by the rules.
@Psybermagi @GeneCortess please make a new post where you either announce you stay with your turn or post updated turn asking me to delete previous). Because:

1. @Psybermagi
I agree with game designer
Quote:
Careful Spell is used the turn you cast a spell and is intended to affect saving throws made that turn
and I will rule that Sickening Radiance which cause all creatures to do saves on their turn and repeat them every turn when... not be affected by Careful Spell performed once on your turn.

2. @GeneCortess let me remind you both greater invisibility and Hold Monster requires concentration. If you cast one the other stops immediately. You are going to loose invisibility if you stay with your turn as it is now.

Jan 21, 2024 8:34 am
Moneky like demon turns even more angry is hit by Atlas' shoot - but Bhrok stands in his way

With grinding teeth and small, vicious eyes the most feared half-orc in the north swings his huge greatsword in violent arcs while spitting rage-filled abuses and challenges onto his enemies. The bastards! Trying to end the world or suchlike! Dare to stand in HIS way! Those meat bags will be ended today! What a f*cking waste of his time!

The others may be taken back as Bhrok so far had used a much more civilised tone most of the time. Talking to the sea snakes, following the trails of the invaders. Finding not one, but two save ways through the trap. But at this moment the transformation is apparent and could be in no way overlooked.

Trice the blade hacks merciless into the Barlgura without consideration for Bhroks own health.
OOC:

Standard: Extra Attack, reckless and GWM
Bonus: Attack, reckless and GWM

Because my character is frenzied, he gets a third attack as his bonus action.
Should the Barlgura fall: Bhrok would use his 35 feet of movement to close the distance to the K4 (and maybe attack if he still got an attack left. - I would edit of course. :) )

Fyi: Escape the Horde. Opportunity attacks against you are made with disadvantage. => A straight role for the bat demon.

Muttering a spell Pin stretches his mind out to detect any nearby presents before moving to examine the body of the fallen sorcerer.
[ +- ] + Detect Thoughts
Jan 31, 2024 4:46 pm
Damon fit by guiding bolt shakes in annoyance of the dim light glittering.
Pin only detect Morgan's surprisingly intellectual mind. He finds a mace and a pouch on Curran's belt, amulet on it's neck. Investigating his small backpack will require more time (next turn)

OOC:
Initiative order: Atlas, Pinmel, Morgan, Congo, Ghouls, Bat-Demon*, Curran, Sky, Bajaz, Bhrok, Seelah

Bat-Demon: first attack against it has advantage
Jan 31, 2024 5:36 pm
It is obvious now to Pinmel that Tressym looking Morgan thinks more like him and any other person. That and he now knows that it is in mental conversation with Congo from what he grasps. Morgan does not use just simple language or broken language. It is obviously fully fluent in its thoughts. (INT 19 Genius).

Morgan is surprised to see Curran had bit the big one. It makes a double move to H10 as it moves though the room and passageway to see again the bat in combat and more importantly Congo as it continues its conversation with Congo mentally. Morgan is moving stealthy still at 17 Stealth.

The healing that Congo received did nothing due to the fact that the Bat reduced his max hit points below the mere 4 points of damage that he did have. So, Congo is now 13 lower than max. now, but fully healed per say at 85 HP. (GM: What does it take to counter that loss as we do have a divine caster among us?)

Congo doesn't feel the hit from the bat gaze so much as just annoyed that it is so magic resistant. Being a caster that of course bothers him. So, Congo goes for something simpler that is next to impossible to resist. With an arcane word and twist of his wrist, he sends bunch of force missile to pound the Bat creature some. He announces to those with him, "Curran is dead now." After trading mental thoughts with Morgan.
OOC:
Congo casts Magic Missile with slot 4 causing 6 missiles to launch and each doing 1d4+1 force damage for 23 Force damage. Congo doesn't move.

Flashing a hungry grin as the ghouls spill out of the hallway and are flooding in his direction, the Glorious positions his feet wide and holds against the undead mob. Not even recognizing the bites and the poison that comes with them, the half-orf starts to cut in tight circles to the left and right, harvesting limbs and heads as he laughs out loud in deep satisfaction. This is what he was born to do!

Pressing in the midst of the flesh-hungry crowd, Bhrok doesn't feel like he is boxed in with these grey-skinned monsters. They are boxed in with him! And they will pay for their mistake.

Gleefully laughing as he harvests limbs and heads left and right, ignoring his own bleeding wounds.

Suddenly finding himself without foes to slay, the most feared half-orc in the North spits out a mixture of snot and blood and fixes his gaze on Curan. "Back for the next thrashing, ha?" he growls hungrily.

With his companions handling thing so well Pin strips the items he found previously on Curran as well as the pack from his body, incase they have some significance or power. He drags the body behind him so he can keep an eye on it. With all the necromancer that was involved he is not certain Curran will stay dead. Pin to H4, body to I4

Baring his teeth with malice, the half-orc suddenly appears behind the undead. Blade raised high above his head, the giant sword swoops down on the weak magic-caster. And again. And one more time.

Another day, Bhrok might have missed his comrades fighting beside him and would have found words of encouragement and compassion for brave Seelah. But not today. Prisoner in the red mist of his anger, the Glorious recognizes only enemies and not friends. But that doesn't bother the berserker's bloody handwriting.

Quite the opposite ....

Coming back to his senses, the half-orf seems more than just a bit hang-overed and fatigued. Leaning on his two-handed sword the ranger heaves himself back to his feet, thankful to Atlas and Pinmel for all the healing and magical attention he gets. "What happened?" he asks groggily.

As Bhrok learns what the Glorious had done in the last few minutes, he gets quiet and draws strength. As a veteran of many a battle, he nods and agrees: "Yeah, Pinmel is right. Liches have such things. Let us find it and end this threat for ever."

Noticing that Bajaz hadn't survived this fight, the ranger isn't surprised at all. The warlock had been a weakling from the start. That he got back to the mud is the way of the world.
OOC:
Bhrok would take an hour of rest, then he wouldn't be exhausted any more and he would start searching for the Phylactery. He would spend HD if necessary.

Seelah helps her friends conduct a search of the chamber. Looking for the lich’s phylactery. Seelah begins by gazing hazel eyes upon the floor and immediate area of the walls. We will probably need venture farther into the chamber perhaps, she suggests kindly. The phylactery is likely hidden away.

Seelah search all 4 chambers
https://i.imgur.com/6S43rsr.jpeg
In the east wall of North chamber he find a poorly hidden small room. You find a black cat int that room as well as a device with 4 buttons. You can deduce that device used to be attached to west wall, but broken out of it.
You also find a book with notes takes - apparently by Curran. While looking through you get an idea of the plan:
Lich who does not belong to this plane became Curran's patron and promised Curran to make him just as immortal as the Lich is. For the price you all experienced

It turns out Lich phylactery is in a different plane of existence where it will Rejuvenate in a few days.
And maybe it is for best - should you face Lich in his Lair, who knows - how would it end...

Sky tries searching around for clues and answers along with everyone else, but it would seem there is little else they can learn from this place. Seeing the black cat, Sky eyes it curiously before calling to it. "Hey there little one. Let's go find us some fish, eh?" He would try to befriend the creature and take it with him, far away from this dark place.
Feb 24, 2024 11:56 am
Cat moves out of the hiding and walk directly to the Curran's dead body in a way that makes tabaxi suspicious about cat's real nature. Cat look at the dead body shortly and... disappears.
Feb 24, 2024 9:47 pm
Watching the cat carefully, but with great suspicion, Sky only smirks when the cat disappears. "Yeah... I think some alone time sounds great right about now." Sky leaves and never thinks about this place again.
