Chapter 2: Fell Tunnels

OOC:
Before I play our the results of Hrafe's actions, just some questions. First, are you officially using your rage/hamrammr ability as a quick action? If saying that in roleplay might seem odd, putting that as OOC may help avoid the need to ask. Second, how did you descend? If you are using your quick action to start your rage, that means you had to have your weapon out already, which means either you descended one handed (which means I need a DC 15 Dexterity check using an athletic skill to not drop the weapon and need to pick it up after all with a quick action) or you just jumped down recklessly (in which case you take 2d6 damage from the impact).

If I don't get a reply by February 7th 9am EST, I'll assume 2d6 damage so what you wrote isn't undone

OOC:
I'm going to roll 2d6 damage and apply it to Hrafe's HP since it has been 48 hours, so what he wrote is guaranteed to happen. I have already updated Hrafe's character sheet, so no need to do anything.
Makasi slashes the half orc while hrafe smashes the human, both remain standing but are both staggered.
The other elf lines up his light crossbow. Not sure who is the best target, he decides to shoot the one who appears to the most deadly. Seeing the big hit from Hrafe, he decides that would be him.
The other half orc sees that Ylliane is not engaged by anyone, and being an archer he decides that would be a good person to go after. He runs up to her by going around the humans and then swinging his mace.
OOC:
Both of the enemy attacks miss.
It is now Edgar's turn. You can reappear anywhere nearby, ignoring opportunity attacks, but the elves are far from you. If you want to appear next to the elves, you would not be able to attack.

Note, it is round 2, so include a "+1" at the end of your attack rolls starting this turn, so 1d20+5 will be 1d20+5+1

Rolls

Hrafe takes this damage as he jumps down the 20 foot hole, axe drawn - (2d6)

(43) = 7

Elf Light Crossbow vs Ylliane AC 19 - 4 damage - (1d20+5)

(8) + 5 = 13

Half Orc Mace vs Hrafe AC 17 - 4 damage - (2d20h1+5)

(95) + 5 = 14

Feb 7, 2024 6:45 pm
After the blow sends the human reeling, Hrafe descends upon him with a vicious follow up. Seemingly shrugging off all damage, the Unstoppable Barbarian roars in challenge. "Each must die someday."
OOC:
yes he is using the Hammramr ability

The human goes down in a bloody mess. You all see the shock in the faces of then other enemies, but they seem still a bit cocky that they outnumber you.
Feb 8, 2024 8:28 am
Edgar suddenly appears behind the remaining human, and tries to thrust his dagger into their back.

Rolls

Melee Attack - Total - (1d20+7+1)

Abandon Dagger - Total - (2d8+5)

(54) + 5 = 14

Sneak Attack - Total - (1d6)

(4) = 4

Feb 8, 2024 12:45 pm
The dagger goes in like butter, the shadows surrounding Edgar as he reappears seeming to somehow push the dagger in farther. The human falls over dead.
OOC:
as it is doubled from your ability on round 1, 36 damage is enough to one shot these guys.

H1 would have been next but he is dead so Ylliane is up next.
Feb 8, 2024 2:55 pm
Ylliane doesn't move, not hearing the arrow until it's nearly on her, and by then, any reaction could be deadly, so she stays stock still, letting the arrow brush past her ear. A lock of her hair flutters down, but before it can hit the ground, she's seen the arrow in her mind's eye, nocked an arrow, and loosed it back along the path of the incoming shot.

As soon as the arrow is away, she tries to roll to the left, determined not to let the enemy archer - probably skilled - take the same shot twice. She's hit with a blow on her shoulder though, and stops moving, lest she inadvertently run into yet another enemy she's not aware of. She yells over the fray to anyone who might be listening, "How many close?"
OOC:
Action: Flexible Ranged Attack w/Power Attack - triggers Carve an Opening, after this attack Crit Range expands by +1 cumulative until next hit

OOC:
are you attacking the elf who shot you, or the half orc engaged with you? If you attack the elf, the half orc gets an opportunity attack (since it is in a square next to you, that represents being engaged with you) as ranged attack trigger opportunity attacks from enemies you did not target.

Also, I think carve an opening is melee only. This is what I meant in our 1:1 channel about there being too few ranged options for fighters...

OOC:
The one who shot at her. She'll take the OA.

She's an archer, she does her job. She trusts those of her team who are skilled in melee to grab the ones that get close to her.

Half orc takes opportunity attack against Ylliane for making a ranged attack while engaged with him and not targeting him.
OOC:
Ylliane takes 4 damage, and if the half orc hits with his next attack, he will do 10 damage instead of 4

Rolls

Half ord Mace vs Ylliane AC 19 - 4 damage - (1d20+5)

(19) + 5 = 24

Also, edited for disengage roll. Failed, so I guess she's staying put.

One of the elves sees Edgar suddenly reappear and kill their human companion in one blow. Freaked out, they aim at edgar and start moving towards the pathway to the right.

The half orc engaged with Makasi is too focused to notice anything else happening. Frustrated with their earlier miss, they make another attempt.
OOC:
Summary:
Edgar takes 4 damage

It is now Makasi and Hrafe's turn before the other half orc and elf go

Rolls

Elf Light Crossbow vs Edgar AC 14 - 4 damage - (1d20+5)

Thug Mace vs Makasi AC 21 - 4 damage - (1d20+5)

"Cool as the ocean spray, your death is on its way!"

Hrafe had to weigh between defending his beleagured ally or going in for the swift kill against the injured elf. He could always run down the elves later. Defending his comrade would pay in dividends later. Falling upon the half orc with furious anger he slashed and hacked his bloody vengeance.

I hate to be a downer, but the elf's are far away. If you want to get into melee, you won't have an action to attack with as you had to use your action to move a second time

OOC:
No worries I guess we are beating up the half orc then.
Feb 9, 2024 12:55 am
Hrafe swings around and deals a heavy blow to the half orc he is engaged with. Not enough to stagger, but still heavy.
OOC:
Makasi is up
Feb 9, 2024 2:56 am
Makasi swings the haft of the halberd into the half-Orc's head, trying for a knockout blow.
OOC:
Probably a miss, so 2 damage.
OOC:
Sorry - had a brain fart. I was rolling damage as the attack roll! Adding a d20 roll here.

Mask's attack misses but still does a little harm.

The other elf sees how things are going and mimics the first. He fires and heads toward the corridor, maintaining his far distance.

The half orc, staggered and wounded, takes a swing and sees if he can back away
OOC:
