OOC:
You manage to position yourself in 18c, but conditions aren't what you would like them to be for it. There may be only one torch lighting the place up, but the bars of the cells don't do much for concealment.

I position myself behind our new ogre friend.

Harrison readies the chain he's using as a flail, and grips it tightly with both hands, resting in wait for the guards to enter the room.
OOC:
If possible, I'd like to use my surprise round to use a full round action to use two-handed attack on the first guard I'm able to hit

Grumblejack shifts his weight around a bit uncomfortably before settling down and holding his cell door closed and blocking any sign of Xharin...it's apparent that this is how he usually sits until the guards come in to poke him.

Harrison positions himself opposite of Aylndra, crouched down between the door and cell 18D.

Magoldor, seeing that noone else is getting into the cell to trick the guards with him, moves to crouch beside Alyndra, weapon in hand.

Everyone is in position...things are about as ideal as they can be...the time is now.

Start off easy. I cup my hands in front of me, creating a sound of Grumblejack wailing and rattling his cage.

OOC:
Sorry gang...birthday shenanigans this weekend. Apologize for the delay.
"Dammit. The magistrate needs to hurry up and get here, so we can be rid of this dumb beast!" one of the guards exclaims as he opens the door and moseys over to Grumblejack's cell. "Hey, you big oaf. Shut the 'ell up!"

The other guard stands watch at the door. It does not appear that either of them have noticed that anything is amiss.

You all have one surprise round, Grumblejack included. State your actions, then I will post a summary of what happened during the surprise round, and we will go into actual initiative.

Order:
Xharin
Guard B
Magoldor
Alyndra
Harrison
Grumblejack
Guard A
Sep 19, 2016 3:31 pm
Alyndra will take aim at the guard by the door door and release her spell, hoping to disable him.
OOC:
Color Spray (DC16 Will Save):
A vivid cone of clashing colors springs forth from your hand, causing creatures to become stunned, perhaps also blinded, and possibly knocking them unconscious. Each creature within the cone is affected according to its HD.

2 HD or less: The creature is unconscious, blinded, and stunned for 2d4 rounds, then blinded and stunned for 1d4 rounds, and then stunned for 1 round. (Only living creatures are knocked unconscious.)

3 or 4 HD: The creature is blinded and stunned for 1d4 rounds, then stunned for 1 round.

5 or more HD: The creature is stunned for 1 round.

Sightless creatures are not affected by color spray.

I attempt to walk around Grumblejack, holding both palms out towards the guard at the door. If he drops, I'll continue towards the main door of the cells.
OOC:
Casting Daze (DC 16?)- This spell clouds the mind of a humanoid creature with 4 or fewer Hit Dice so that it takes no actions. Humanoids of 5 or more HD are not affected.

Waiting for Harrison, then I'll make the post.

OOC:
Harrison is waiting to attack with his flail. Let's go crazy though, he'll charge one of the guards once their in view.

OOC:
Go ahead and roll your attack
Sep 20, 2016 5:15 pm
"You don't even deserve as good as this..." grunts Harrison

SURPRISE ROUND

The guard that walked into the block to check on Grumblejack is completely oblivious...and very drunk. As he's starting to say something to the "noisy" ogre, Xharin steps out and hits him with a Daze spell as Magoldor steps up, his warhammer burning with a violet flame, landing a solid blow in the dazed and confused guard's back. At the same time, Alyndra steps out in front of the door, loosing her Color Spray in the startled man's face right before he falls to the ground unconscious. Harrison charges the first guard, finishing him off with a swing of the flail, as Grumblejack moves forward to slam the second guard's head into the ground repeatedly until there's not much left that's recognizable there (an Ogre's coup de grace, so to speak).

100 xp ea. for this combat
Sep 20, 2016 7:02 pm
Smiling at the ease with which they dispatched their jailers, Alyndra peers into the room that the guards came through, dagger in hand, to make sure there is no danger in there.

The room beyond is currently empty. It would appear that these were the only two guards assigned to watch your cell block.

Each guard is also carrying a longbow with 20 arrows, a long sword, a chain shirt, a heavy steel shield, a leather club, and a key to some sort of chest.
Sep 20, 2016 7:59 pm
I pocket the key. "Which way?"
Sep 20, 2016 8:23 pm
OOC:
Going by what's on the map right now. Looks like a room to the east and stairs down to the south?
Alyndra ignores the chain shirts, knowing that they'd be more of a dress on her slender frame. She walks over to the eastern door, "Maybe a supply closet?" she asks, then attempts to pick the lock on the door.
OOC:
Would like to take 10, which would give me a 21, but if that ain't enough, I'll roll below

Rolls

Disable Device - (1d20+11)

(18) + 11 = 29

Sep 20, 2016 8:30 pm
As Alyndra picks the lock, I reluctantly take one of the clubs off of the bodies.
Sep 20, 2016 9:00 pm
Alyndra, the door is unlocked before you even start, and you remember this as the room that they took you to meet Tiadora in
