Roll initiative?

"Grumblejack, after you." I hold the door open, then make to close it after he enters unless anyone objects.
Sep 26, 2016 1:31 pm
Grumblejack wanders into the room and Xharin shuts the door behind him. The four of you, standing by the door, hear some very terrifying noises...men screaming, the thuds of bodies being thrown against walls, and flesh ripping. No more than 90 seconds later, the noises stop...and the *thud thud thud* of very large footsteps can be heard coming back to the door.
OOC:
...the dice really want you to keep this ogre. Why can't I roll like that when I'm a player?

"Impressive. Either of you wish to search the room, or should we continue?"

"Oi tink da lot of ye should take a look in 'ere," Grumblejack mutters, fresh wounds on his body. "Dere're lots of locked boxes in 'ere."
Sep 26, 2016 3:07 pm
I hand the key I found over to Alyndra. "I'll keep watch. You're handy with locks- I won't be much use in that department."
Sep 26, 2016 3:47 pm
Alyndra takes the key and steps into the room, carefully avoiding stepping into any chunks as she inspects the room, then goes through and attempts to use the key on the locked boxes, and if that doesn't work, she will use her lockpicks.
OOC:
If the key and taking 10 don't work, I'll include some rolls here for you

Rolls

The bodies of the three dead guards in the room have keys on them as well...and there are a dozen locked foot lockers in this room...

With 5 keys and a few minutes per chest, in about 30 minutes or so Alyndra has opened up every footlocker in these barracks. Fortunately, no guards have come patrolling down the hallway or returned to the barracks, and you estimate there is another hour before shift change.

In these chests, Alyndra finds:

Chest 1: A bottle of absolute rot gut whiskey without a label worth 5 GP
Chest 2: A masterwork lute worth 100 GP
Chest 3: A whetstone, cleaning supplies for chain shirts, extra bowstring, and a small book of military regulations
Chest 4: A traveller's outfit, a finely made pipe (5 GP) with a good supply (1 lb.) of high quality shag tobacco (2 GP)
Chest 5: Hidden beneath peasant garb are two decks of cards (one regular, one marked) and a bag of 12 GP worth of mixed coinage)
Chest 6: A small coin pouch with 3 GP of mixed coins
Chest 7: A map of the nearby town of Varyston including the Old Moor Road
Chest 8: A small bottle with a hand written note: "In case of trouble - Love, Mom!" (potion of cure light wounds)
Chest 9: A collection of cheap, tawdry, crudely printed "penny dreadfuls" about dashing heroes, daring do, and amply bosomed damsels prone to fainting and outdoor bathing (no value)
Chest 10: Ink, quill, and a personal journal that reveals this week's password "Hesterfield" - the Warden's home town - and the details of Blackerly's illicit gambling sessions, including exactly when the next game will be...ironically enough, it's tonight in the Eastern Gate House (3C on the map)
Chest 11: A set of peasant clothes and a short sword
Chest 12: A pouch with 1 GP in various coinage

Magoldor has no interest in the cheap change and the personal items. His eyes do light up when the location of Blackerly's next gambling session is revealed. Murmuring a dark prayer over the room, he claims the healing potion for himself.

Casting Detect Magic
Sep 26, 2016 7:06 pm
Alyndra, cursing that she doesn't have a sack to carry this stuff in, looks around for anything that would help her carry some of this stuff out. If she can get a sack, she will take all of the coins, the outfit, pipe, tobacco, lute, decks of cards, the map, the journal and the short sword.

If she can't find a sack, she will take the sword and divvy out the coins evenly among her companions.

I grab the book of military regulations, the ink and quill, and one of the tawdry novels. Preferably when no one is paying attention.
Sep 26, 2016 7:20 pm
Nothing in the room holds any magic to it at all, save the one potion.

There is a sack there, and each of the coinpouches can easily hold a divided amount of coinage among them.

Xharin can attempt a Dex check, if he wishes, to obtain one of the books without anyone noticing (it's gonna be vs. their passive perception)
Sep 26, 2016 7:25 pm
Once I've grabbed everything else I want from the room, I have a moment of hesitation before I grab one of the tawdry novels. I look around briefly to see if anyone noticed. If they do I will shrug. "Let's keep moving. If we're lucky we have approximately one hour before anyone notices the dead bodies."

Rolls

Dex (-2 since I'm Meticulous) - (1d20+2)

(7) + 2 = 9

Sep 26, 2016 7:28 pm
OOC:
That'll be 4 GP each, as I assume we're not giving any to Grumblejack
Sep 26, 2016 7:34 pm
OOC:
Everyone also notices that Xharin, though trying to be sneaky about it, grabs one of the novels.

For an idea of how terrible these things are, Moofs, think of the cheesiest fantasy story you've ever heard, then add in voluptuous vixens that bathe in the river...and that are prone to being kidnapped and rescued, so that the "hero" can receive the proper reward...giggity.

If it's just the same, I'd like that map and the journal," says Harrison while continuing to rummage through the items. "Perhaps we can put of these things to use. Maybe some disguises?"
Sep 26, 2016 8:21 pm
OOC:
I'm sure I have no idea what you mean. In any case, the book can be used as kindling for all the fires that Harrison wants to set.

OOC:
What wasn't clear? I was mostly referring to the clothes that were found, but the other stuff, i.e. the lute would make a good prop for a disguise. Just an idea.

Moof's referring to my comment about the smut that Xharin grabbed. :) ;)
