"Yes, let's move quickly, before they wake up!" Alyndra says, hurrying everyone away from the dogs.

Harrison strides over to the dogs, and one by one beheads them. Picking the leaking heads up off the floor Harrison returns to the group. "We will break these fools the way the weren't able to break us," he says to anyone listening.
OOC:
Harrison is going to engage in a little psychological warfare and use the dog heads as improvised missible weapons when we get to the where the soldiers are. Expect an Intimidate roll to follow the surprise "attack".

I step away from the bloody dog heads. Really, I should cease being surprised by the depravity of fools. Letting emotions and need for vengeance cloud all semblance of reason. There's a time and place for such a thing, but here and now is not one of them! I impassively turn towards Alyndra and raise an eyebrow.

Alyndra wrinkles her nose in disgust and takes a step away. Seeing Xharin look at her she rolls her eyes and shrugs as if to say, What can you do?

Ready to get this excursion over and done with, I step towards the front of the group and continue on, listening for any signs of detection.

Looking around the courtyard, as you make your way to the western gatehouse, you can see that there are two guards patrolling the walls; one on the western wall, one on the eastern wall. Their lanterns light up around them, and they don't appear to be paying too much attention to their surroundings. In fact, you aren't completely certain, but it almost appears that they are...staggering?

OOC:
How far are we from them?
Oct 19, 2016 3:51 pm
OOC:
As long as you do not run along the walls, you'll be fairly safe from detection. Right now, you are about 150' from each guard. The only reason any of you saw them was the fact that they have lanterns.

"Let's worry about them later and get this over with. They'll not see us in the darkness," Alyndra says, urging the others on.

I ignore the guards and keep moving.

Indeed, agrees Harrison. We have more important matters to attend to, but there is a lack of discipline in this place that is revolting. Clearly, proper authority is needed. He stalks of with the others in search of their intended quarry.

The five of you easily make it into the Western Gatehouse (room 3b). There is no lock on the door, and it opens easily to reveal an empty room with three arrow slits in the eastern wall pointing into the entry way. A team of prepared archers could easily take down a group of escaped prisoners from this point.

There is a ladder that leads to the room above, just as the serving girl described.

OOC:
Is there a trap door leading to the room above, or just an opening?
Oct 20, 2016 8:53 pm
There is a trap door there. It does not appear to be locked.
Oct 20, 2016 8:56 pm
I shove whatever dirty rags I have left into the arrow slits. No use bringing the rags out with me.

"Who wants to go up first?" Alyndra whispers to the others.
Oct 20, 2016 9:14 pm
"I'll do it." I trust myself more than this lot.

The room above is empty, and it is apparent to Xharin that a skilled and well equipped archer could control the entire courtyard from this room. Two other trap doors lie closed on the floor, one in the center and one to the east. Two ladders appear to serve as the entry to walk the walls or stand atop the gatehouse.
