I don't think I explained myself clearly, and for that I apologize. You're already on the second level. The center trap door led the central room of the gatehouse 1st level, and serves as a room where a guard can shoot at escapees from above. The trap doors above you lead to the gatehouse ceiling/wall. One ladder has been eliminated.
Xharin, as you climb the ladder and open the trap door above you, you feel a brisk, cold wind blowing off of the coast...the chill is enough to make you gasp loudly for air. Fortunately, the guard stationed on the gatehouse roof doesn't seem to hear you, because he is grumbling about the cold himself.
I never should've bet roof duty...son of a bitch knew I was bluffing...
