Cordey hits the hag with Reaver. Even in its mundane state as a simple (and rather weathered looking) blade in Cordey's hand, it manages to deal the witch a bit of damage. As the blade connects with the hag, something extraordinary happens. The gem embedded in Reaver—the swirling blue-red gem—suddenly flares to life. A pulse of energy surges through the blade, drawing out life force from the hag. The gem swirls aggressively, its colors intensifying as it channels this stolen life force into Admiral’s unconscious form. The energy jumps from the hag into Admiral and the force transfer is visible to all. The hag shrieks violently as Reaver drawns life from her. She attempts to move away, but the sheath of energy forced around her by Regan make a thunderous boom as she moves through it. (Hag 8 damage Reaver, 6 damage Booming Blade)
...
Admiral’s eyes snap open, but instead of seeing the cavern, he finds himself floating in an ethereal void. The void begins to take shape, forming into a dark, desolate but fiery landscape—the Demon Realm. The sky is ablaze with sickly green and crimson hues, and the ground is littered with the remains of forgotten battles. In the distance, through an open portal, Admiral sees the Obsidian Fortress, a massive, foreboding structure of black.
The vision shifts, pulling Admiral inside the fortress. He finds himself in a vast chamber, the depths of the fortress, where a great forge dominates the room. The air is thick with heat and the acrid scent of molten metal. Standing before the forge is Sekkor, the Deep Dragon. His scales are a deep, shimmering black, but his eyes burn with a fierce blue-red light—the same light that now pulses in Reaver’s gem.
Sekkor, commands a servant, a blacksmith, as he with meticulous precision, hammers at a piece of metal—a metal unlike any Admiral has seen before. Sekkor revels at the sight and calls the metal Abyssium, the magical ore gifted to him by the Dark Prince. The metal seems to shift and change, its surface swirling like liquid darkness, reflecting the deceptive nature of demons.
The work continues tirelessly, Sekkor focuses his essence on the gem and the smith fuses the gem to the blade, which channels the dragon's life force through gem that sits at the hilt of Reaver. With each strike of the hammer, the gem glows brighter, absorbing Sekkor’s power, his very soul, until finally, the blade is complete—Reaver is born.
The scene shifts again, and Admiral sees a new figure—Ezber, the dragonborn, but a cultist, not a captain. Ezber stands at a similar portal to the first Admiral saw in his vision. It opens to a shadowy corner of the Demon Realm. Ezber faces a demon general who wields Reaver with a terrifying ferocity. The demon general, drunk on the power of the blade, leads an assault on a group of cultists who seem to be protecting a group of human slaves, brought to the Demon Realm portal. The general seems to be taken by surprise by the revolt that appears to be led by Ezber.
In a cunning and brutal battle, Ezber outwits the demon general, seizing Reaver from his grasp. The blade seems to willingly recognize Ezber’s strength and cunning, and binds to him as its new wielder. At that moment in the vision, Admiral feels Reaver sense of freedom from demon servitude and drive to free Sekkor. As Ezber grips the hilt, he feels the essence of Sekkor pulsing through the gem. The pact is sealed—Ezber becomes a warlock, bound to Reaver and the sentient power within it.
Suddenly, the vision takes a darker turn. The scene shifts to the deepest pits of the Demon Realm, where Sekkor, betrayed and bound by the Dark Prince, is imprisoned. The once-mighty dragon is now a shadow of his former self, shackled in chains forged from Abyssium, the very metal he once used to create Reaver. The Dark Prince looms over him, a figure of unimaginable evil, relishing in Sekkor’s torment. The dragon’s roars of pain echo through the infernal landscape, each cry reverberating through the gem in Reaver, through Ezber, and now, through Admiral. Admiral feels the pain, the despair, the longing for freedom that Sekkor endures.
The vision fades...
As Reaver finishes transferring the hag’s life force into Admiral. His eyes flutter open, and he gasps for breath as if resurfacing from a deep, dark ocean. The gem in Reaver--the blade still in Cordey's hand--still pulses with energy, but now, it is a calmer, steady glow—a reminder of the ancient power that lies within it.
Admiral is awake in the cavern, held up from water and ice by Regan's grasp. Admiral's strength returning, he feels the weight of the vision, the knowledge of Sekkor, and the history of Ezber weigh heavy on his him. The blade has saved his life, but at a cost—he is now more deeply bound to the fate of Sekkor and the Demon Realm than ever before.
The hag, who took further damage from moving through the thunderous boom sheath while backing away from the encounter with Reaver, remains stunned by Reaver's taking of her life force. She is unable to take action this turn. The water lever seems to stop rising.
