OOC:
Gene, let's say that Regan's last blow put and end to Lurker 3. So there's just Lurker 2 and Lurker 4 left.

oopsylon, I'd say that your Athletics roll allows you to pull Tasya from her grapple and toward Jin for your action, but I don't think you will technically be able to disengage as your action also. So...we'll see if any of the limbs are smart enough to take any opportunity attacks. They’re not too bright.

With Regan knocking off the Kelp Lurker Cordey has been killing on, Cordey now switches to the next nearest one and begins again to slice and dice it.

Admiral grabs Tasya's unconscious frame and deliberately pulls her away from the limb that holds her. In a feat of athletic prowess he breaks her free and retreats, dragging her toward the open chamber near Jin. Limbs flail menacingly as Admiral pulls Tasya across the floor, but they remain oblivious to their evading prey as Admiral cautiously and perceptively navigates away from the most active.

Regan's exasperated resolve is accompanied by his warhammer smashing into a lurker. Its limbs go limp and wither away when the hammer hits their source. The kelp lurker deflates. Its appearance of being a lush moist plant is displaced by dried flaky seaweed that crumbles into dust as it falls off the tunnel wall. (Lurker 3: 13 damage--dead)

Cordey lands an expertly placed slice into a lurker as Admiral move past him, helping clear the way for him. (Lurker 4: 13 damage)

Jin assists Cordey in the effort and sends two blasts of Eldritch force at the same lurker. Both hit (Lurker 4: 19 damage)

...

8 limbs attack Cordey and Regan who still face the remaining lurkers in the heart of fray. The fighter and paladin, basically standing back-to-back, skillfully parry and strike with their weapons. Regan's protective magic glows slightly as they both fend off the aggressive, menacing algae limbs that lash out with supernatural force. Only one manages to get a hold of Cordey. It squeezes, inflicting pain as it tries to keep a hold on the half-elf. (Cordey: 4 damage)

The two remaining lurkers spawn two more limbs (for a total of 10).

Gene, Please make a STR check DC 12 to avoid being grappled by the limb that got Cordey.

One fast STR check DC 12. Woot. Cordey makes it. Give you the reaction swing too.

Cordey attacks Kelp Lurker (4) trying to kill it but spends too much time avoiding the limbs to connect. "Dam these corrupt plants. I will see my Lelay again." as his offhand grips her pendant hard.

And he is out of goodies.

Cordey and Regan just finished off Kelp Lurker 4. There's only Lurker 2 left. (I'll update the last stats block I posted to reflect that)

Cordey still has an attack for the current round.

Although, you both could easily disengage, if you desire, as long as you head toward the chamber where the other three are and not up toward the remaining lurker..

In that one instance I was fast maybe. 😂

The lurker's four limbs lash out...

One of them maneuvers around Cordey's cutlass and gets a constricting hold of him. But the big sea elf doesn't let the plant keep its grip and forces his way out. (Cordey: 4 damage)

The lurker grows another limb.

Regan will swing at their last foe. Out of his periphial, he sees the woman is still down and the Captain isn't helping? After working to pull her free?

"Lay her flat! Check her airway, make sure she's breathing properly!" Regan well yell over the din of battle, his voice reverberating off the walls of the tunnel.
OOC:
At least make a Medicine check. Assuming no house rules I'm forgetting, if you get a 10 or higher she stabilises. Also, buy a Healer's Kit. Lol

As did the other lurkers, the final magically menacing plant deflates under Regan's warhammer as its limbs wither. Like the others, it becomes dried flaky seaweed that crumbles into dust as it falls off the tunnel wall.

Cordey rush over does the best he can to save Tasya. And time he is done with her, she is just cradled in his arms and breathing. He can mix some his blood with hers.

Rolls

Medicince check - (1d20+1)

(15) + 1 = 16

May 22, 2024 4:19 pm
Regan will rush to Tasya and place his hands on her, channeling a spark of divine power into her limp body. After she comes to, he looks at the others.

"Alright, basic first aid lesson. Right now. She needs a minute to get herself together anyway." With that, Regan will give some basic instruction to Admiral, Cordey, Jin, and Tasya herself.
OOC:
Lay On Hands for 5 hp to Tasya.

Regan doesn't have Medicine proficiency, but in-game I assume as a slave for many years they had to deal with their own injuries to some degree. It should justify a Medicine check to stabilize a dying character.
May 22, 2024 4:42 pm
While holding Tasya, "Yes. That does her well. I could only get her breathing again." as he notes that she is waking up.
OOC:
5e. A use off a Healer's Kit is good for automatic stabling. Without a kit, it takes a medicine check DC 10. Everyone usually has at least a base +0 Medicine check. Of course, higher with WIS or proficiency. In 5e, proficiency is just a bonus on the roll. It implies nothing more. Healer's Kit doesn't require tool knowledge or proficiency bonus. So, everyone is just as good anyone else. I can't see justify the fact that your slavery gives more advantage unless it is written in your background that you get such.

OOC:
I didn't say my slavery experience was better than a Medicine check.

I said it served as an in-game justification for knowing to make a medicine check.

Something not all players know their characters can do -- so now we have had an in-game moment to ensure everyone knows it's an option.
