Out of Character Special Creation

Welcome to a new circus, I hope we will all have fun. I try to keep 1 post a day if possible, if you can't try to warn us we may adjust.

I'm ok with that posting rate. Looking forward to playing.

Well lets get started by creating a character, do you have a concept in mind ? A race to start ?

So, before we start I want to say that I will follow the remaster core book. It's quite big and I haven't fully completed it yet. I want to follow it and I don't want to start reading the old book again. One of the primary changes is in spells. There is no spell school trait, like no Divination, Abjuration, etc in PF2e remaster.

Sorry, I do follow the book I have, as I said I am pretty sure it is not remaster. If you prefer following your rules it will not be in the campaign I am afraid.

I'd love to have an admin character that sits in back checking spreadsheets and profit margins, but that doesn't play well, lol
Not sure what the party balance needs to be for a game like this, but the concepts I first thought of were a Goblin inventor that does maintenance and such for the show, or a strongman type that shows off with feats of strength and challenges spectators to wrestling matches, or a knife thrower/acrobat

I like the idea of my character being a Human with a touch of Elemental. A Gem Soul Crytsal Oread.

With scintillating personalities to match their captivating appearances, gemsoul oreads command attention—and prefer it that way. Gemsouls tend to have large egos and are flashy in their relationships. They gravitate towards artistic pursuits, most frequently of a performative nature, though they also have a strong tradition of symmetric poetry.

I envision him to be drawn to the animals and perhaps a keeper, sleeping with them, and a performer as well. This is just a preliminary idea with room to adjust to the group but I do like the concept.

Ok, I see now the character creation rules etc. I missed those as they were made before I joined the game and I found them on my page 2!

I am asking the GM to consider my Oread concept, please?

Oread are planar sions from the ooze plane, if I'm not mistaken

For those who use character builders know that pathbuilder has flipped to remastered rules. While Archives of Nethys has not switched to remasted

I was mistaken :)
Planar Scions are Aasimar, Duskwalker and Tieflings

I'm currently considering a changeling witch, who rides big animals.

When thinking of prepared spells I have started to consider them complex matters that are prepared and it then takes a few actions to "trigger". Her prepared spells are laid down as henna tattoos.

Something like this AI art

Heya everybody. I'm of a mind to make a monk with the tiefling versatile heritage, which in terms of combat will probably act as part of the frontline. Character-wise, I see him as somebody who's rather unassuming and shy of attention, in contrast to the performers. This ties into his role as a handyman who does odd jobs for the circus in the background, like setting up tents and cleaning up after a show.

That sounds kind of fitting with the investigator class if you're keen on the idea. Besides, every circus needs a ticket seller, right?

Oh, good point. I think I will play an investigator. Let me look over the Advanced Players handbook

The investigator is an awesome class, but it has some broken feats. The auto-find-all-the-clues feats should be avoided as they can hamper the trill of mystery solving

@Testlum. A Tiefling Monk seems a little far fetch, fighting against the evil nature will not help them to have the require calm en discipline to make a fighting monk; I don't know what the other players think of that.

Ideally I would prefer characters from different horizons, not only Scions but it is not a requirement.

@runekyndig. A Changeling Witch seems interesting, I create a private part to talk about it.

@crazybirdman. Investigator and Oracle may be a nice choice if you want someone helping with finances and possibly advertisement.

@Windyridge. Oread would be an Aasimar ? What class are you thinking taking ?

I was thinking Druid would fit nicely.
Feb 14, 2024 9:37 pm
Druid seems the less fitting. From the description it seems they are people loving and helping people despised what they suffer from others. Druid is entirely turned toward nature; what the intake of other players ?

I'm still relatively new to Pathfinder, but it seems if the goal is to be circus folk, then we should pick the ancestry and class that best fits the character concept we have in mind. I don't know how important it is that an Investigator actually 'investigates'. But for a character that wants to advertise, schedule gigs, and manage the finances, Investigator seems to work best.
I guess they were investigating the corruption in the previous circus, and the new circus liked what they say and offered the a job.

Ok Investigator is a good class, what would be your race ?
