Roleplay thread: The Unidentified Xenos Ship

Reliquant Superior Maria Grace is the leader of The Sisterhood of The Black Rose. It is her job to ensure the sacred relic is cared for and that the mission of The Ecclesiarchy is seen to on Violet Equinox. She looks old, one eye gone a strange milky white and the other a blazing almost fiery blue filled with anger.

"The Governor has asked me kindly to assist at a crash landing of an unidentified Xenos ship. What the Governor failed to mention is that he sent a scouting mission to this ship and they have not responded back. I avoided bringing up my numerous complaints about the status of the local guard deployment and said that I would send a group to investigate."

She looks over your group, "You are that group. I have no further information or knowledge, it is your duty to investigate more from here if you can and then board the Aquila Lander to fly to the crash sight. If there are any hostile Xenos you will eliminate them and as per our mandate save any Imperial forces in danger."

"Are there any questions?" Her tone suggests any questions had best be important and well thought.

Krondo Sigma was looking at his data slate while listening to Reliquant Superior Maria Grace. A picture of Violet Equinox was circling on it giving various topographical, weather, and other myriads of information. He had recently arrived at Violet Equinox to aid the Sisterhood of Black Rose in maintaining, soothing, and retrofitting the various gifts of Omnissiah held in the blessed sanctum of the Sisterhood. Many machinaries were kept in moderate condition, but he didn't like that. Some cogitators should have been soothed properly with binary hymns in proper cycles. Some machinaries required more unguents to ease their friction torques. He didn't like the generator coils kept in such precarious condition. However, all the Sisterhood's wargear was kept in proper order. As properly as they can manage. It is after all the duty of the Priesthood of Mechanicus to alay the Machine spirits and lubricate their function, or else they will make their displeasure known. Some of which he had come to notice and requested the authority of the Sisterhood to change by petitioning through proper channels.

He had been summoned to aid once again, but this time it seemed like a mission outside of the Sisterhood. Either the Sisterhood has been lacking individuals or this mission requires individuals to have specific skills that he may complement. He didn't voice any of his opinions but when questioned, he looked up from his data slate.

"Reverent Sister Superior Maria Grace, I would like to bring this to your attention. It seems the Governer has done something downright heretical in allowing a Xenos ship to crash land in your blessed soil. Such an abomination should have been blasted in the atmosphere. Not only did he fail that, he managed to lose a scout ship crew to investigate this crash site." His eyes looked at her with absolute determination.

"Hypothesis: Planetary defence grid lacks enough firepower to halt xeno advance (probability chance 31%). Xeno ship is advanced and eluded auspex scans due to lack of proper functioning (Probability chance 12%). Governor wanted to know more about this xeno ship and purposefully crashed it without notifying others; when things went out of hand he is calling your help (Probability chance 55%). Finally, he is incompetent at his station (Probability chance 2%). Based on the calculations, I would think he has committed a heretical breach of conduct by not notifying you about his investigation early. I request that you look into him further."

He looked back at his slate, "Any information of where the ship landed? Further information on the scout crew will help us determine more about who was sent and what we should be looking for there? Also, more information on the xenoship signature will help us look into the archives to prepare for the worst. With the current condition, I can extrapolate that the success probability for this mission is 45 %."

He finally stood silent, awaiting the Sister's response to his information dump.

OOC: Tell me if this font is looking bad. I wanted to bring the Admech theme. If it looks bad and difficult to read, I will use normal fonts.

Bigby understand the tone and understand a ratling better keep his mouth shut. He is smiling nevertheless - if the Governor wanted to investigate ship on their own, there must be something of a value to discover.
If the Governor didn't want The Sisterhood to get all the loot I can help with that he thinks to himself

Sister Cassia is uncomfortable. So many of those that walk in the twilight of faith on hallowed ground? Unthinkable. Of course Him on Terra advised forgiveness for the abhuman when useful, but a there had to be a limit to how generous they could be before the spirit became corrupted. After all, was that not how heresy and mutation, like an insidious plague, grew?

She glanced at the tech adept while he spoke, her mouth a thin line. He'd raised a good point, she begrudgingly admitted, about the governor's supposed heresy. That a xenos ship had been allowed to crash on a world of the Emperor pained her without the governor acting without the proper protections. She didn't agree with the idea with giving the governor's incompetence such a low probability though, the man clearly didn't have a clue.

"I do have one question, your grace, why are we sending lives to investigate? Surely it would be better to eradicate the ship from orbit or by focussed bombardment. As we can tell from the archives of the venerable Commissar Cain, no good may come from traipsing around xenos ruins, recent or ancient."
Feb 24, 2024 2:03 pm
The Reliquant Superior listens and says, "If I could prove the Governor was heretical in this case we would be marching in force through the capital. He is a slippery fellow though and evidence is not quite enough to justify that if you can find such evidence bring it to me immediately." She smiles a little bit at the idea, clearly she would very much like to March her forces into the city and remove the Governor.

The smile fades as she looks to Sister Cassia, "As for a bombardment that would also be preferred, but the scouts may still be alive. The Emperor Protects and we are his hand. If we can protect even one scout from these Xenos then we will."
Feb 24, 2024 11:39 pm
The veteran sister of the Seraphim, Sister Sabathica Dominissa, watched with some disdain at the tech-priest who had spoken out of turn. It was typical of the cogheads to forget decorum, but such disgrace should not be so easily tolerated. As for the mission, her mind was clear.
These scouts must be something special to warrant protection. More likely, our Sister Superior wants an account she can trust. But she would not say so with outsiders present.

Instead Sister Sabathica spoke in a commanding voice, filled with zeal.
"It is not for us to question. We serve the God-Emperor of Mankind. There is but one course of action, and that is to purge every last remnant of the foul Xenos that have unhallowed the Emperor's domain by its existence. We will bring the information you seek into the Emperor's Light, Sister Superior, as the first step to bringing the blessing of purgation to these interlopers."
Feb 25, 2024 2:51 am
After Sister Sabathica's pious interjection, Sister Olivia Belli offers her affirmation, "His will be done!". Pausing for a moment, she then raises a hand, as if she were still in the Schola Progenium, "Reliquant Superior, may I ask what chain of command you wish us to adopt for this patrol?"
Feb 25, 2024 5:28 pm
The only sound that came from Sister Retributor Domitia Jurgena was the incredibly soft hum coming from her power armor, and the even softer one coming from the double-barrel of her monstrous multi-melta, now pointed down in a sign of good will and respect for her superior. She was the last one to speak, assessing the situation. She didn't look with too much disdain to the Tech Priest and to the Ratling, too. At least, with palpable less disdain than her Sisters.

Probably, the woman had been beautiful during her youth, but her face was now tempered with grim determination, sour eyes, and sunken lines. She had made sure to steer away as possible from the other bystanders, sparing them from the heat radiating from twin barrels of her multi-melta.

Sister Retributor Domitia Jurgena was old. Not as old as the Reliquant Superior, but old enough to have served alongside her when they were both rank and file Sororitas. She had not been promoted, yet, and that probably spoke volumes about her bitter attitude. There had been talks about it, but the Sister had never cleared the air.

Still, even if the Retributor had grown older than forty, she was still a beast of a woman. She was tall. Not as tall as an Astartes, but tall anyway.
"His Will be done" The old Retributor muttered, chewing out the words and almost spitting them.

"We will try to bring the scouts home. Lest the Governor has something brewing" Sister Domitia Jurgena added, bitter, eyeing both Sister Olivia and Sister Sabathica with a grim look.

The Reliquant Superior looks to Dominita and gives her a nod. "Sister Dominita will be the Sister Superior for this mission." She turns and walks off, there is a great deal to be done.

You pass by cogitators and Vox communicator stations just long enough that, if one of you wanted, you could check the local data net or contact a connection. Soon after you get to the Aquila lander, its engines are hot and the militia pilot salutes as the doors open. It’s barely enough room to fit all of you, but you can see that the Arvis Lighter is currently under repair. Krondo would know that his assistant tech priests were currently trying to sooth its machine spirit after one of the engines had to be replaced.

Also in the vehicle bay is a Thunderhawk which looks like it is warming up. Sister Amalthea gives you a salute and a simple hand sign that basically communicates "Vox call me" and you know that if you need backup you will have it within a few minutes. Then the lander powers up and you’re in the air.

The land around the shrine is pure fortification with decorations only on the path pilgrims might travel. You see a few making the trek, as is usual, before you are high enough that you can’t distinguish people anymore. Then you fly over the vibrant green fields of Violet Equinox. Enough food just along the path you are flying to feed an entire Hive City.

The vibrant green of the fields is ruined by a black trail and smoking husk of a ship. Nearby the ship you can see a Pegasus AVF. The ship is clearly not Imperial and, in the state it is in, it’s hard to make out which Xenos it belongs to. The lander eases down near the Pegasus, which at first glance doesn’t seem to be damaged.
OOC:

Possible rolls to make:
Contact people you know for information: Investigation or Persuasion
Check the local data net for information: Tech
What type of Xenos ship is this: Investigation
How damaged is the Pegasus AVF: Tech
Other details: Appropriate Skill depending on the detail

Don’t forget to separate a d6 for the wrath die.

Cassia sat in silence in her seat. She sat with her jaw set, and her eyes glued to the pages of an old tome. For those more capable in the arts of the Lingua Divinatus, they would read the book as The Narrative of Faith Enduring as written by Archivist Bohaut. Said chronicle depicted the first crusade of the Damocles from the perspective of an administratum serf rather than a soldier. To Cassia, knowledge of how to bolster the spirits of the common man bore as much fruit as inspiring soldiers.

She had given her bit to the beginning of the investigation though. As an Imagifier, and the leader of many sermons and recollections of the faith, Cassia had developed a network in her time. Certainly, she wasn't as old as Domitia, nor as storied in battle as the others, but she had garnered a reputation for compassion in those of the faith and force of will for those without. Her small stature but strength defiant to her size were perfect mirrors of her personality.

She nodded silently while the Canoness decided on the commander for the operation. It didn't feel a slight to her that she hadn't been considered, since her prowess in combat paled compared to any of the others. Instead, she'd already been thinking about other avenues pursuant to the investigation.

In the time the group took to shift over to their transportation, she had dispatched notes, to be couriered by noviates, asking for favours from those sympathetic to the faith yet still with their fingers on the pulse of Equinox. With luck, their on ship vox would have received some messages come their arrival to the crash site.
OOC:
Rolling Persuasion (7) for contacting people. Oof, maybe Cassia isn't as popular as she thinks she is! XD

Krondo Sigma nodded at the Sister Superior and then followed the group towards the armory in order to prepare for the mission. After collecting all his stuff, he checked the information cogitators present in the Sisterhood for more precise knowledge of the place where the Xeno ship had crash-landed.

He collated all the data and copied it on his data slate. In the Thunderhawk he remained seated at his place, occationally sharing information to the Sister Domitia, notifying her about all the necessary topographical details and terrain scans. When the ship finally reached the destination, he came out and observed the crashed Xeno ship along with the Peagasus AVF. He cursed himself for not bringing a scout servo skull for close inspection from a safe distance. However, a scout ship belongs to the Omnissiah and it must be salvaged and repaired for proper functioning again. He watched the damaged Peagasus trying to ascertain how much it had taken and how far it was repairable.

His eyes flashed as he clasped his hands and activated the Omnissiah's blessing of the Augger array in form of advanced augmetics that had been given to him. He looked at the ship to detect any possible heat signatures of life signs.

OOC: Oh Boy! So first of all, I got 2 wrath criticals, so that means 2 glory for the group. I don't know how much DN it is for the information test of the local data net, because I will shift some icons then. The same goes for identifying the Xeno ship and trying to determine the damage of the Peagasus. Total success for the test: 16 success out of which I can shift a lot, 5 success for the Xeno ship test and I can shift upto 2 and lastly, 5 success for the Pegasus test and I can shift once. I just noticed that Auspex range is 50m so, I guess we need to go closer before we can detect life signs.

There is a long moment of silence as the chain of command is rested upon the Veteran Retributor. Sister Retributor Domitia Jurgena hears the orders of her superior, and stays put.

Her eyes glitter for a moment. Rage? Regret? Pain? Bitterness? Surprise? The emotion flares up for just a fraction of a second. Probably surprise. The supposedly level-headed woman looks down to the younger Sisters, the ones that so adamantly believe to be following His will to the letter. Domitia Jurgena studies them, taking a moment to understand who she should be leading.

"As your command" Sister Domitia Jurgena replied, respectfully. The woman, now invested with the authority of command, eyes her sisters, the Admech representative and the abhuman auxiliary. She simply nods, and heads for the hangar.

Onboard of the Aquila lander, Sister Domitia Jurgena sat with her multi-melta on her lap, like a son or a daughter. The Veteran Retributor seemed to pay no mind to the comments of Krondo Sigma, but the tech priest could easily understand that the woman was actually listening, especially given how she asked a couple of clarifying questions.

The silent Retributor studied what her fellow Sisters are doing during the flight. She glared grim at what Sister Cassia is reading, but didn't break her silence.

Until, of course, the Lander actually arrived in sight of the crashed Pegasus. The Retributor stood up, supporting herself with one of the handles.

"Thank you, Krondo Sigma. Please, report to me your next findings" she ordered him.

The grim Retributor looked at the group at her orders. She seemed as if she was about to speak something. Then, Retributor Domitia Jurgena looked at the pilot.

"Bring us around and down" she ordered. "Vox check, vox check" she added, muttering first in the comms of the team and then voxing directly the Thunderhawk.

After confirming that everything is in working order, Sister Retributor Domitia Jurgena addresses directly her fellow sisters.

"There is a time for zealous charges and purges, and a time for discipline, Sisters. Our priority objective IS the scout team and their informations, Sisters. The crashed Xeno ship is our secondary objective". Sister Retributor Domitia Jurgena speaks with harsh, commanding sentences. She clearly expects to be obeyed.

Cassia
Cassia gets a Vox call from Novitiate Lena Hauptmann. The young woman is an offshoot of the local Hauptmann family and she says. "My cousin is telling me that she’s seen some strange tall people going in to talk with the council. I don’t know if that helps but she swears these people might be a weird sort of Abhuman?" Abhuman or Xeno?

Krondo

Krondo took a brief time to get through the local data network and into what the governor might prefer to be kept secret. A Dendrite rocket launcher sends two missiles into the air firing right at the ship and then each rocket explodes before hitting. He figures a .01% chance both rockets actually failed. After this an investigation of the launcher’s cogitators would be prudent.

The Xeno ship is Drukhari, a foul off breed of the Aeldari race, they thrive on the pain and suffering of others.

He approaches the Pegasus AVF and it looks like it has simply stopped. No true damage at all as if the scouts stopped here and just got out.
Feb 26, 2024 6:17 am
Krondo stood there checking and making notes on his data slate and then turned to Sister Domitia Jurgena. "The pattern of the Xeno ship seems to resemble the vile corsair raiding vessels of Drukhari. This is pretty bad, Sister Jurgena. It might answer some questions but raise several others. Records of their raiding activities suggest, they capture people of the Holy Imperium and subject them to torture and experimentation. Hypothesis: This is a Drukhari scout ship trying to gauge the defensive potential of Violet Equinox in order to prepare for further choreographed raids. However, Violet Equinox being under the protection of Holy Sisterhood of Black Rose, I find that it is folly for them to even attempt (Probability chance 29%). The Drukhari have tried to find isolated habitats of Violet Equinox in order to perform lightning raids and leave no survivors, thus it remains undetected. Though I believe that is very unlikely because the Sisterhood would have detected it by now (Probability chance 24%). The Drukhari have someone already working inside the planet's organisation who gives out safe passage or vital information that lets them escape auspex scans and freely enter the planet without alerting anybody. My guess is, of course, the Governor which is downright heretical. This explanation is mostly plausible but then again, why would he contact the Sisterhood knowing that if they investigated, his association would come to limelight (Probability chance 39%). Finally, this might be the first time Drukhari are trying to infiltrate Violet Equinox (Probability chance 8%)." He finished and looked back at the data slate.

After checking something, he started again, "The Peagasus seems to be in normal condition, so that means the AVF is intact. I know it's not priority of the mission but we must retrieve that blessed artifact of Omnissiah lest it get's corrupted by foul Drukhari. We might also use the Pegasus as our extraction vehicle, I am confident I can operate it. We can also try to look into it's storage compartments. Since, it was sent as scout vehicle, we can probably find a scout servo skull there. It might help us to have a servo skull act as our eyes when we enter the Xeno ship. I would also like to add that the Drukhari are going to use their speed and heretical weaponry to oppose us. We should expect foul, underhanded tactics employing stealth. I never doubt the capabilities of a company of battle sisters; in fact, I believe they are more than capable in obliterating the heretical Xenos. I merely want to provide tactical knowledge to increase your efficiency." He finally shut up, giving his entire report and then looked at the party.

Sister Olivia regarded the Tech Priest as he delivered his report and although keen to question the data she remained silent out of respect for the acting Sister Superior.

Olivia's gaze drifted towards the almost comically paried abhumans; one a behemoth that she thought might be reminiscent of an Orc, although she had never seen one, and, of course, the Ogryn wasn't green, and the other a diminutive and, to her eyes, a grotesque creature, like something from a child's cautionary tale. But then the thought hit her - the emperor protects such as these as well! These are no Xenos, and aren't they also offering their lifes in His service?

"Your name is Bigby, isn't it?", she said to the Ratling and before any answer came, she continued, "I'm Sister Olivia. You seem nervous, perhaps you don't like spaceflight?"

Sister Sabathica Dominissa made the sign of the Aquila as the Sister Superior left them. She was not snubbed by not receiving command. After all, it was the duty of the Seraphim to close distance with the enemy and engage in brutal close-combat battle whilst controlling their jump-packs. Such duties did rarely allow for the burden of command to be heaped upon them. That, and the Sister Superior understood the preference of her assault specialists and decided their expertise was not the most suited mindset for the mission. The fact she was included, however, told Sister Sabathica that the need for her specialty was not ruled out either. Such is the wisdom of the Sister Superior.

She went to the armory to commence the rites of armament. Kneeling and praying, she underwent the rites that would clad her in sacred ceramite and plasteel. Servitors made out of blessed petitioners adorned in prayer scrolls locked the complex underlayers and armor plates together as cherubim floated overhead carrying censers from which clouds of incense billowed. Novices sang in choir, beseeching the God-Emperor for protection and damnation to His foes. Clad in her armor, Sister Sabathica inserted the nose and mouth plugs allowing her breath and speech under high inertia and strain before her helmet was lowered over her face. Finally, her wings were lowered down from on high to rest upon her back, clamping in place where normally only a power pack would rest. She rose a Seraphim, looking up to the great statue of the God-Emperor, thanking He Who Sits On Terra for this chance to serve Him. With great reverence two honored novices brought forth the sacred relics she would bear in battle, twin ancient inferno pistols that had been passed down for generations. Sister Sabathica picked up each with a prayer of thanks, honoring her forebears, before holstering the deadly instruments of fiery annihilation. At last, prayer scrolls were attached to her armor with honor seals. Sister Sabathica had chosen prayers admonishing the Xenos and the glory of their destruction. A scouting mission this may be, but there could be but one outcome. Finally the rites were complete, and Sister Sabathica joined her Sisters and the rabble that was blessed to be in their presence on transport ship.

As they flew she paid the presence of the males no mind. Each was ugly and repugnant in their own way. The Tech-Priest that paid homage to his near-blasphemous Omnissiah. The tiny abhuman cradling a sniper pattern, clearly a craven. The Ogryn, whose small mind was blessedly devoid of doubt. That one offended her least. Still, that the Sisterhood had felt need to augment their forces with them was a troubling sign in itself. She decided she would not be held back in carrying out the Emperor's will because of them. Thankfully there were Sisters with her that she could rely on.

The target came into view, and Sister Sabathica's helmet augurs gave her a zoomed impression of the Xenos craft. She recognized it not, but this was only proof of her purity. The ship landed and she jumped forwards, scanning the site for enemy presence. As she found none, the Tech-Priest began rattling off his babble.
"Speak not of the failings of the God-Emperor's servants, Tech-Priest, and shorten your diatribe to something suited to the battlefield."
The tech-priest might be knowledgeable, but she wished they had brought a simple Enginseer. At least those were battle-hardened and kept their comments to what strictly necessary...

"Check your barbs, Sister Sabathica" came the admonishing reply of Sister Retributor Domitia Jurgena, as the commanding Sororita shot a glare to the Seraphim.

"Your suggestions are well received, Krondo Sigma" the Retributor added.

"These foul abominations believe this planet stands undefended. Everything seems to lean in direction of a scouting party, and for that, I would very much wish to confront them with an opinion made of fire today. .. But I would like to know more. I want to extract the servo skull of the Pegasus, yes" Sister Domitia Jurgena added, grim.
"If, of course, it does contain the treasured informations we are seeking" . The Retributor didn't sound too convinced. She was clearly thinking.

Either way, this was the first time she had actually spoken for more than a couple of words.

"Are they? Well received, I mean." Cassia braces her Simulacrum and leans on it a little. The banner's litany scrolls and purity seals flap in the wind. "Is it not in the teachings of Saint Carmillus that the guarded mind preserves sanctity through vigilance, over all?"

Her hand settles on the cover of the sanctified record she keeps chained to her belt. To her, it is as much a safety net in battle as any of her wargear. It represents a very physical aspect of the Emperor's guidance in her life. Satisfied, she indicates the ship with a tilt of her head. "I don't mean to undermine your command, honoured sister, but our orders were to investigate and recover the scouts. I don't see them, but we are aware of the ships origin. Now, we would be more suited to eradication protocols."

Me? I'm a bit, you know... Ratling looks surprised if not afraid sister talks to him, but recover fast and changes theme
well yes I prefer operating in a field, Sister Olivia Belli. But I can be just as useful inside Xenos ship. The talks about abominations did not scare me!

Macho waited with Bigby, eager for combat, he grunts and laughs with him.

"Hahaha, I like you small man, you'll live if you stay with me." He said as he held up his large gun and pretended to fire the thing.

"What comes I'll crush."

"They are, Sister Cassia, unless, of course, you can provide me with a better assessment of the morphology of the land you are about to land over" comes the grizzled reply.

Then, Sister Retributor Domitia Jurgena raises an eyebrow. She furrows her brow even more so.

"I am afraid, Sister Cassia, that Saint Carmillus is not here. However, for the very reason I am not Him, I am open to suggestions" the first sentence is very clearly just a bitter joke made with bitter humour. However, the second sentence sounds truthful. As already shown with the Tech Priest, the Sister Retributor is seemingly open to questions and suggestions.

"We have investigated nothing yet, Sister, and we have recovered nothing yet, Sister. Your zealous suggestion is duly noted, but a scan can only reveal so much. My orders still stand. We shall land, coordon the ship, and extract any survivors. Then, trust me, you shall be free to face Dark Eldar raiders in glorious combat and eradicate them as easily and as perfectly as you are expected to fight in His name, crushing these foul Xenos with your sacred sword and cleansing them with your holy fire". Sister Retributor Domitia Jurgena replies, grim, and bitter.

Sister Retributor Domitia Jurgena looks down at the Pegasus, trying to gauge if there were any traces of a possible ambush set up by the wicked raiders. She knows the slippery bastards are slippery and terrifying, and the last thing she wants is to lead her team into a trap.

The Pegasus AVF sits silently Krondo’s instruments show no life forms and this simple vehicle has no monitoring equipment inside to check. If a servo skull came with the scouting party, then it is still with them.

The Drukhari vessel itself is far larger than the Thunderhawk in the bay, but Krondo was not quite able to determine its model. Just from the piece above ground it is likely to have at least twenty or more and as you approach the Xeno ship the Auspex starts to give out meaningless information. Something inside is still running and preventing detailed scans. What is noticeable to some of you, are the footprints of Imperial scouts heading directly into an open door of the ship.
OOC:

Anyone with a 6+ investigation passively notices the footprints.
Also, if you want or even feel a skill might be useful please roll it. At the very least you can accumulate wrath points…

OK, one roll from me to check if I do it correctly.
Bigby trust his ayes more than scanners - using his rifle's optics he checks if the doors are the only entrance/exit to the ship. Any cracks in the ship during crash landing, any designed secondary exits, ventilation holes, anything. Ratling would prefer not to enter through the main doors, where scouts entered and never returned.

Krondo looked at the ship and said, "The blasphemous Xeno tech is interfering with the blessed technology of Omnissiah. I can't get any precise readings from outside. There may be a signal jammer deep in the ship. With all these footprints, it looks like the scouts entered the Xeno vessel. Sister Jurgena, it looks like in order to locate the scouts, we have to enter the heretical Xeno vessel. I am ready and able to follow you all in infiltrating the ship. How do you wish to proceed?"

Two tentacular arms come out of the back of Krondo, one carrying the galvanic carbine and the other had a combi tool on it. The large staff like Omnissian axe was carried by him in his two biological hands. This sort of augmentation helped the tech priest to quickly swap between the available armaments that he carried to the battlefield.
Feb 27, 2024 5:02 pm
Bigby:
Bigby notes at least one crack that he could fit through due to his size, but no one else could. It might be possible to make it bigger though? He's not sure.

Beyond that the only way in or out is the ominous entrance.
OOC:

Bigby's Passive tech and demolitions isn't high enough to be sure if the alternative entrance can be widened.

"Sister Superior, on your word I'm ready to follow those tracks into the ship"

The Dominion raises her double-barrelled, .75 calibre, Storm Bolter in readiness.
Feb 27, 2024 8:55 pm
Sister Cassia visibly tenses up when Domitia makes the joke about the saint. Thankfully, she has her helmet on because her expression is one of fire. She holds her tongue, though, and waits for her ire to soften into a simmer before following them toward the ship. The idea of going in there doesn't sit well with her, as far as she cares the scouts are dead, but she isn't a combat leader. She knows her place.

"Aye. When we enter, we best be prepared." She checks the slide on her bolter, already knowing it's perfect. She maintains her weapon everyday, cleaning it with the appropriate reverence and unguents. "And let the icon of him on Terra be our guiding light."
Feb 27, 2024 11:57 pm
"There is something here that smells fishy, Sister Olivia. The way is lit and the path is clear. We only require the strength to follow it and spring what feels like a trap" Sister Retributor Domitia Jurgena notes, adamantly.

"Yes, let He guide us..." Sister Domitia Jurgena is about to add something, but stops.

"Land, pilot. I want to see what's inside that ship with my own eyes. Let us march, Sisters!".

The room is large enough to fit the Thunderhawk in. The metallic walls seem a dull lifeless grey and a single rectangular box sits in the middle of the room. As you move in the box lights up with images of the system and its sun. A blue green planet shines and you recognize it as Violet Equinox.

Moments later the remnants of a human drop onto the table from above. It is a male, his skin is mostly flayed from his body, his limbs have been broken at odd angles and yet, somehow this man, or what's left of him, groans with pain. Then the very back wall changes from grey to a vivid scene, a tall male with trangular ears and numerous piercings in his face, stands in front of an Imperial Scout while a different Xeno behind him begins to strip the flesh from the scout's arm making the poor scout scream with pain.

In Low gothic the Xeno, on screen, speaks, "Greetings Mon-Keigh, I am speaking your disgusting language because it pleases me to let you know just how little time you have. This one behind me will be peeled and then we have four more. Can you get here in time Mon-Keigh or will you let them all suffer."

https://i.ibb.co/5jTgxYV/Hormagaunt.jpg
The vid feed cuts out and the wall goes back to grey again before you hear roars of some sort of beast. Then you see them as they smash into the room a small swarm of Hormagants. The vile Tyrannid creatures have been warped and changed by Drukhari sorcery, but the base creatures are still there and, if you don't kill them all they might spawn!

"United we stand, divided we fall. Fight shoulder to shoulder and the Emperor fights with you." Cassia bellows as she lines up a shoot.

She takes it upon herself to open fire, despite the lack of orders forthcoming. She doesn't think that her sister superior is incompetent, more than the need to give the order is unnecessary. It's clear to all of them what they should be doing. She keeps her boltgun on single shot, taking her time to aim each shot.

Sister Sabathica blows two of the Hormagaunts into bloody bits before one reaches her and attacks. Sister Cassia sees the creature attacking Sabathica. She takes careful aim and takes out half of its face. Somehow it manages to live through that attack and then Sister Cassia is attacked by one of the monstrous creatures.

Olivia fires a shot to finish off the creature attacking Sabathica and then her weapon rips the one attacking Sister Cassia into pieces. Sadly each of her weapons jams and she will need to free them up before they can fire again. The last creature standing focuses on Olivia. As she is attacked Macho feels his anger rise, sister Cassia’s words ring in his mind and he loses his terror. How dare these vile creatures attack a Daughter of the Emperor!

Sister Retributor Domitia Jurgena runs into the middle of the room, not bothering to squish the remains of the Hormagaunt.

She stops in front of the door, and checks no one is in the line of fire.

Olivia and Bigby work on unjamming their weapons while Sister Dominita turns the door, that the Hormagaunt came through, into a puddle of slag. Krondo was cowering at one side of the battlefield due to the sudden onslaught of foul xenos and their utterly horrific alien biology. But the sisters made quick work of the aliens, and the battle finally receded.

Cassia frowns at the ratling, not because she believes his action was wrong but more because she's surprised at an abhuman showing such compassion. It leaves her feeling conflicted. She gives him an awkward nod, not offering the usual companionship she would to her fellow sisters, and clears her throat. "You do the Emperor's work, guardsman."

She turns away with a sweep and catches up to Dominita, stowing her bolter on the way so she has a free hand. She catches her by the shoulder, leaning closer to have a word with her where others may not overhear. "I don't mean to undermine your authority here battle sister, but now I must insist. Call in the tyranid presence at once, and let us pray upon His mercy the bug hunters arrive before the horde descends upon us."

Sister Retributor Domitia Jurgena stops right at the side of the dying man, before he is granted the Emperor's peace. The woman holds his hand and mutters a prayer.

The Retributor is the first one to step inside the destroyed doorframe, and there, she stops, hearing for the second time how Sister Cassia is upset at her choice.

"Sister Cassia, for someone that means no undermining, you sure delight yourself with questioning my authority" The Retributor stops, chuckling.

"I am afraid there is no horde here, for you would be already breathing the foul spores of the abominations already. The entire ship would be clogged, and our auxiliares would find an hard time breathing" the Retributor adds.

"These are just playthings of the foul breed we are chasing. Nothing more than foul beasts captured and repurposed for something darker. Are you afraid, Sister Cassia? Would you like to leave the Pegasus, and vox the Thundehwak, and try to eradicate this infestation without understating why our enemy is here? I believe you were assured the Emperor protected" the Retributor continued, chuckling, but there was no trace of humour in her voice save bitter rancour.

"We are here for a mission. I expect you to complete with the bearing of the great Sororita you are, and with the bearing of the even greater Sororita you will be" there is no scorn, not this time.
"That means, following my orders" the Retributor adds, colder.

"Respectable Adpet Krondo Sigma! Can you try to vox our Thundehwak? I would like our beloved Reliquant Superior to know in which hellhole I am leading my Sororitas before we find other Drukhari playthings!" Sister Retributor snaps, her voice thundering in the chamber.

"Surely you can't be that big of a fool?" Cassia squeezes out through gritted teeth. "Or is it age that begets arrogance?"

She lets her hand slip off Domitia's shoulder, and raises her voice a little. Given the challenge to her own faith, she doesn't have any qualms about who overhears the discussion anymore.

"Need I remind you, sister retributor, of my place? Do you bear the sacred relic?" She lets the question hang in the air before continuing. "Much as I'm willing to overlook your sleight, I won't overlook the safety of our order nor the safety of His world. Tell me, in all your reading and study, have you ever heard of a single tyranid? "You are free to outrank me, Sister Cassia. You are free to lead this team, if you so desire" the Retributor replies, seemingly unfazed.

"Or, you can trust my judgment, and understand that as much as He protects, we are the ones have to carry His will. There will be no salvation gained with prayers and fear, Sister. Only the rage against the darkness will save us. There is no one else here, bar us, and the prisoners that these foul raiders are taken. Would you abandon them, Sister Cassia, and hope He will save them, or would you push deeper, and understand that we carry His will through our actions?".

Cassia rolls her eyes, unseen under her helmet, but doesn't reply to Domitia's jabs. As far as she's concerned the prisoners are already dead, or worse. It wouldn't be abandoning them but giving them what they deserve to immolate them along with anything else on the hostile vessel. Regardless, she takes a step back for Domitia to continue.

She reaches up and toggles her frequency, using the command net to vox back to the thunderhawk on her microbead. "This is the advance team. Reporting contact, xenos. Potential tyranid threat. The sister superior is pressing on, let it be on record that I advised her to make this report."

Sister Olivia is struck dumb by the interchange between Sister Domitia and Sister Cassia. We're here to do His work, not to fight like cats on heat.

"Sister's, our weapons are functioning again by the grace of the .... Omnissiah", Sister Olivia dart's an appreciative glance at the party's Tech Priest before continuing, "Let us complete this mission, for the glory of the Sisterhood, for Saint Kodachi, and our father."

Without waiting for an order to do so, Sister Olivia stealthily heads towards the infernal darkness.

"Guards, do you have a source of illumination on you?"
Mar 1, 2024 9:40 pm
Up ahead, Sister Sabathica stood, aiming her inferno pistols into the darkness ahead, scanning for targets as her fellow sisters squabbled. It was disappointing to see such dissent. She had expected it to come from outside of the holy order. Moreover, this was hardly the place for it. Thankfully it seemed over for the moment and the group began to move, and so did she..

The Novices in the Thunderhawk reply back, "Reading you Sister. Reporting Tyrannid threat protocols. If we see anything other than you exiting the Xeno ship we will release promethium bombs…"

The room lights up under the glare of helmet lights. Five empty cages with doors open and ten with creatures that are dead. You are not quite sure if the ten died from the crash or from the foul Xeno experiments. Krondo exchanged glances between Sister Cassia and Sister Domitia's heated exchange. He never liked internal strife. Cogs and wheels should complement and aid itself rather than apply resistance and break their sacred function. He sighed, hoping that other sisters will deescalate this and bring normal coordination back. For an elite group of warriors, the sisters are surprisingly fiery headed when compared to well organised Skitarii cohort and Corpuscarii Priest ranks.

So, when the sisters advanced and got hit by unseen snipers, Krondo was not prepared for it. As the shot hit Sister Jurgena, Krondo screamed, "Enemy contact. Possible snipers; be careful, Sisters." He then saw 3 more Drukhari jump out to assault them. The situation was going out of hand. Krondo activated his Auger array with a binary chant and tried to see if the Auspex reading showed the enemy locations.

He then targeted one of the Drukhari that raised it's weapon to attack the Sister with his Galvanic carbine and fired.

OOC: Damn! I rolled a complication on my attack roll. Ballistic skill test has 3 successes. Awareness test has 4 successes. However, I am spending wrath to reroll the other dice. Great, I am glad that I rerolled, Awareness test has 11 Successes now. I know that Auspex scans was jammed outside the ship, but I don't know whether it is jammed inside also. There is a moment when everyone is sure the Drukhari sniper ought to have hit Sister Dominita. Instead the shot ricochets off her holy ceramite armor. She proceeds to turn one of the melee combatants into a pile of ash.

One of the melee combatants reaches her though, his needle thin sword dripping with a greenish poison.

Krondo looks through his sights and sees both of the foul Xenos trying to hide. His carbine fires perfectly causing the Xeno to bleed, but the sight goes dark. He will not be as accurate until he repairs the sight.

Round 2
Dominita Jurgena turns one of the snipers into another pile of ash along with melting a portion of wall behind him. The second Xeno shows themselves to be a coward and flees out the door and down the hallway in a full out panic. He jukes left and right as if purposefully avoiding something in the hallway more than attempting to avoid your weapon fire.

He nearly makes it through the door, but not quite.
OOC:

- Dominita and Bigby have gone in round 2 as well as the Xenos threat
- Still up Olivia, Cassia, Krondo, and Macho
- One Xeno scout alive at 20 meters down the hall
- Anyone heading into the hallway with passive awareness 4 will notice the three traps the fleeing Drukhari avoided
—Tech or demolition DC 8 for each trap failure by 2 means no danger. Failure by 3 or a 1 on the ruin die means you will take 12 damage from mono molecular wire traps. You may only disable one trap per round.

Combat Over
Olivia rips the last Xeno apart with her storm bolter as it clicks through the last shot the mechanisms jam again. Perhaps the machine spirit is dissatisfied for some reason?

A quiet settles in the room as combat comes to an end. The hallway the enemy went down leads to a closed door and, now that things are less hectic it is clear that the hallway is trapped.

You also note two doors on either sides of the hallway that the Xeno did not go through despite them being closer. Each of them have something written in their foul language which may, or may not explain why.
OOC:

Sister Olivia walks over to Krondo Sigma and holds out her Storm Bolter, "Brother Tech Priest, this weapon seems to rejoice in smiting the enemies of our imperium, and yet her machine spirit has some complaint once more. Would you commune with her spirit and find out what ails here?"
Mar 7, 2024 3:23 pm
Krondo was checking his own Galvanic carbine as it's scope had to be adjusted. He tried a binary chant and then modulated the sights to fix the issue. At the voice of Sister Olivia, he looked up, "Absolutely Sister, I am always ready to hear the machine spirit and aid you all in this mission." Unlike other Sisters, Olivia seemed to at least accept his skills and presence, like Sister Domitia. After checking the Storm Bolter and easing the cogs with a binary prayer, he gave it back to Sister Olivia.

He turned to look at all the Sisters while realising that the battle had ended. "I apologise if I was not so much effective in battle but I can aid you by providing any medical care if necessary. Is anyone of you in need of medical care?"

While moving around and surveying the room, he went close to the hallway and detected the trap like contraptions. "Foul xenos have carefully laid traps in this hallway. Monomolecular wire ensnaring traps; this will hurt a lot. Let me see if I can do something about these."

Krondo used his mechadendrites and tentacular arm extensions to finely cut all the snares while constantly chanting the blessed hymn of binary litanies. Once it was done, he breathed out, "Nothing can stand in front of the superiority of blessed Omnissiah. Emperor's judgement won't easily be denied. The way is clear and safe, Sisters."

Ooc: Damn, rolled a wrath complication but two wrath criticals. Krondo can fix everyone's gear but not his own Galvanic carbine. 2 glory for the party. Also, is there like ant cogitator here in the room, where Krondo can try to get information?

Krondo works to fix his galvanic carbine and the scope snaps off entirely. Somewhere along the line it had been stored somewhere too damp and corrosion set in. He’s going to need to entirely replace the scope fittings when he returns. For now he uses some ship tape and makes do.

In removing the traps Krondo locates a Xeno cogitator and is able to get additional information. The rooms on the sides of the hallway lead to promethium storage tanks. Clearly the reason the Xeno didn’t enter was the highly volatile nature of promethium.

He can also, if he wants, attempt to commune with the alien cogitator.
OOC:

OOC: I fear that mere asking of this potential heretical thought might cause the Sisters to think of Krondo in other aspects. And then will come the cleansing flames of Promethium. But hey, let's do it anyways.

Krondo looked at the alien cogitator with vile disgust and others could see that he was conflicted but clearly hated such alien technology. He turned to Sister Domitia while looking around to the other Sisters, "Here lies an alien Xeno tech reeking of heresy. The obvious protocol needs no explanation that we should burn and destroy this thing so that it's vileness doesn't corrupt our blessed soul. However, from a tactical point of view, it might contain information about the ship and probably give us a look at how it avoided the planetary defence grid or whether it harbours any past information about visiting Violet Equinox before. I am willing to sacrifice my sanctity in order to prod and scour their vile tech for answers, but if you wish, we can entirely destroy it and move on. I wait for your counsel regarding this matter. On the other hand, I detect reservoirs of Promethium across the hallway. Could it be that the Xenos are stealing Promethium from the planet? We can jury-rig controlled catastrophic explosions focusing on the reservoirs if we want to destroy the ship entirely." He completed waiting for a response from the Sister.

Krondo nodded at Sister Domitia and then proceeded towards the xeno cogitator. He uttered a litany of binary hymn in order to fortify his mind against the vile technology of the Xenos. Activating his mind impulse unit, he sent a sharp cable from his head to attach it to the cogitator and, uttering a prayer to the Omnissiah, tried to converse with the cogitator.

Krondo is able to pull up feeds and data showing this same ship landing on the planet time and again. As if someone on planet has been giving the Drukhari a welcome playground where they might slaughter humans at their whim.

In addition to the evidence of foul heresy the tech priest is able to get a layout and some simple design of the ship.
- Front area: The front area you just came through was where the forces would rush out and attack. Missing from the area are eight hover bikes.
- Xeno pets: You just came from where they would keep the Tyrannid ‘pets’
- Promethium exchangers: The promethium stored here is pumped into the engines
- Play room: This is the room just beyond. It is filled with cages and various devices of torment
- Flight deck: Just beyond the so called ‘Play room’ is where the flight controls can be found
- Warp Convertor: Under the play room and flight deck this device allows the Drukhari ship to enter the webway

Krondo is mere moments from finding out just where the webway gate is when he feels a toxic dump of information into his brain. Impossible ideas and mathematical concepts send him reeling to the ground. He manages to get up, to rid himself of the here-tech, but it is a close thing and when he is done the cogitator has shorted out and begins to smoke.

"If life is the Emperor's currency, then I am seeing that currency very poorly respected. Delay that order, Macho. Wait" Sister Retributor Domitia Jurgena snaps back, immediately stepping closer to the tech priest.

However, even if she stays the hand of the ogre, everyone can see how she grabs the handle of her own bolter. Good trigger discipline means that she won't ever squeeze that finger, and everyone there should understand that this is no threat, but, rather, just a precaution.

"Adept Krondo Sigma. What happened? Speak to me!" Sister Retributor Domitia Jurgena asks.
"See if he can step up to his feet, Macho"
Mar 8, 2024 6:52 am
Krondo slowly stood up and corrects himself while rubbing his temple, his metallic tentacle probe slowly receding into the backside of his brain. "I am alright, Sister Jurgena. I had to face Xeno tech countermeasures that tried to scramble the blessed mind of Omnissiah. A momentary obstruction that can easily be confronted and subdued."

He took out his data slate, and another cable came out of his brain to attach to it in order to transfer data. "Foul xenos tech has destroyed itself in order to prevent my probing, but I am sure we can get more cogitators here in the ship to run a thorough inquiry."

Once the data slate had the full data copied, he retraced the cable and slowly walked towards Sister Jurgena, "However my probing into the cogitator has borne fruit. We have the schematic of this xeno ship. Take a look, Sister. (He showed the map of the alien ship) It seems that there were hover bikes kept in the hanger bay which we found empty when we entered here. Could they have been used to scout out? Are the Drukhari already out and raiding the planet? Look at this room, it is probably used to create these foul xenos in this vat pools. And this room seems to be the one where they keep their captives and torture them. It is probable that the scouts are held here. This one is probably the control bridge, and here are the promethium reservoirs. This....this is confusing, someplace these xenos protect with the utmost care. Probing this room resulted in that countermeasure activating. I haven't heard about much, but archives hold heretical technology of the Aeldari race and their mastery of warp travel. How they don't use navigators and the holy light of Astronomicon to traverse the chaotic immaterium. This enigmatic but heretical 'Web ways' as they are called is probably controlled here. But, what's most interesting and downright heretical, but a paramount part of the whole information that I gathered is this one. Log reports of the Xeno ship. Looks like there have been previous reports of this ship landing on Violet Equinox without meeting any form of resistance in the past. How is that possible? It is unlikely that auspex scans won't detect a ship of this size entering the planet's atmosphere. Could it really be that they were purposefully ignored or given permission to land? More questions, but valuable information that we must report to the Reliquant Superior Maria Grace." He finally completed the report and looked at Siste ar Domitia for a response.

Bigby only casually listed tech priest words. Investigating the sniper weapons out of curiosity Bigby talks to himself They either underestimate us. Or scarified. Aeldari are no fools.

When tech priest suggest "Drukhari already out and raiding the planet" he looks at Krondo and nods in an agreement. This is but a decoy. Keep us busy here. he whispers and don't pay attention to the rest of Krondo's monologue.

Rattling double checks his weapon impatiently waiting for group to proceed.

So what did searching the xenos cogitator do? It told them what they'd already theorised. Sure, the mechanicum adept would suggest that it confirmed a hypothesis, but they had no need to do so. Surely their faith in Him on Terra would be enough to carry the day. And it had been as far as Cassia cared. She'd already thought there'd be no recovering the scouts, and a potential threat to the planet. Any xenos ship was enough to know that.

More than that though, the adept had been tempted by tech heresy. She wasn't surprised, in fact she didn't blame the unit himself. More she blamed their insatiable thirst for knowledge. They knew no better, and couldn't follow the teachings of Zouche the Forgefather; 'knowledge is a secret best kept far from the mind, ignorance therefore is bliss.'

"Where to next, sister?" Cassia addressed Domitia while checking her ammo count. "The less time we spend in this cursed place the better."

In the bowels of the ship the party waits as they decide on their next move. Perhaps they will throw grenades into the next room or perhaps attempt some sabotage of the promethium fuel tanks. Macho follows the rest of the group, his weapon ready.
Mar 15, 2024 11:04 pm
The door opens into a room of horrors, heretical symbols, decorate the black walls and numerous blinking devices. Three PDF scouts are in thorn covered cages their flack armor ripped by the jagged thorns and clear stains on their trousers. One PDF scout is being forced to stand while a Drukhari male slowly brings a machine down his arm, the skin peeling off to show the muscle underneath. You would think such a process might send them into unconsciousness from the pain and yet, somehow, he is still awake and screaming.

Another scout is in a cage where someone has fused his top half with some sort of primitive haired animal, you think it might be a relative to the animal of sacred Terra known as an Ape. The rest of the scouts are likely in a clear tube which is filled with blood and body parts. Three feminine looking Drukhari are filling glasses from the tube and drinking from them as if it is the finest amasec.

Finally, taking up the center of the room, is a counter to the horror a beautiful and elegant thing made with smooth lines and careful craft. Compared to the horrors of the room this giant robot stands out as almost pristine. The only mar to the creature are red glyphs that have clearly been added on, these glyphs mar the white bone like armor almost as if they are an infection. You note that around the robot is some sort of air distortion perhaps some sort of shield?

Macho and Bigby take out the two female Drukhari. The male torturing the scout turns at the last moment and most of the shots ping off of his alien armor. Bleeding from spots he injects himself with some and then he gives a vile smile saying, "I have been waiting for you Mon-Keigh. Let's see if you can survive against the tormented soul of an Asuryani"

The wraith bone machine fully comes to life and fire explodes all around the entrance to the room.

Krondo watched the sickly scene where the scouts were tortured and made into experimental plaything by the vile Drukharis. His emotional cogitator spiked as rage filled up to see such obscenity. In moments as the xenos realised that there were enemies in the room, combat and the exchange of weapon fire commenced, leaving two Drukhari dead but also hitting the ratling operative. Watching Bigby fall down due to weapon fire brought Krondo back to his senses as he rushed to check on him. "Hmm, a dislocated jaw bone. Don't scream; it will worsen your injury. Injecting some hemocogulant, pain relaxant, and anti-inflammatory stim. Let's fix that jaw and realign your digastric and masseter." He grabbed the jaw of the ratling and pushed it up to bring it together with the upper jaw, while a tentacular arm came from the back that peirced the neck skin of Bigby and injected a cocktail of dose inside his jugular vein.

OOC: What a bad roll. Using wrath to reroll. This is my last Wrath. @Ysolde How do you plan to award Wrath points? Are we using the Objectives? So, after rerolling, I have 4 successes with an exalted icon. I am shifting the exalted icon to restore 1 more wound.

Sister Olivia feels the rage surge inside her but calling upon her training she steadies her feverish pulse and calmy aims at the obscenity before them and unleashes the wrath of her Storm Bolter at it.

Round 1 end Round 2 starts

Domitia watches as the shield on the thing crackles with the power of her attack but, it clearly doesn’t go down despite the horrific power of her multi melta. Olivia’s shots are even more accurate and yet the shield withstands them as well. The pure white machine with red runes begins to aim again while the male Drukhari just laughs at the situation.

The male Drukari dodges the bullets almost, almost, perfectly except, at the very end of his mad dodging, Bigby aims a single perfectly aimed shot right into the black heart of the Drukari. The xeno scum puts his hand to his heart comes away with blood and looks at the bleeding hand with a look of utter surprise. Then, he falls to the ground dead.

The white automaton whirrs and begins the process of aiming its disintegration weapon.

After the hail of weapon fire exchange, Krondo peeked out from his position to see if any foul xenos Drukhari remained. When he observes that the combat is over, he will move towards the torturing device that held the scout prisoner. Operating the device, Krondo will attempt to disable it and release it's subject.

Once the device is disabled and the scout is released, Krondo will inject a mixture of pain relievers and sedatives before trying to patch up the flayed portion of the scout's body.

OOC: If the combat is over, Krondo will try to disable the torturing device to release the scout from it and heal it in anyway possible. I rolled tech test and got 5 successes with two shifts. If it needs more successes then I will utilize the exalted icons.

"Blessed Krak in the air!" Cassia calls, unclipping a krak grenade from her belt with the intention of hurling it at the Wraithguard. She's aware her bolter won't do much to the creature, but little is protection against krak grenades.
OOC:

As far as I can tell, a grenade uses DN 3 Ballistic Skill rather than a standard attack test, correct me if I'm wrong! Oof, that was close XD!

So the Wraithguard would (after it's turn because I don't think we seized initiative?) take 17 damage, Ap-2.

Battle End

Domitia’s weapon hits the shield reflecting without doing damage or so it seems until Olivia’s weapon passes through the area where the shield would have been and shatters the pure white surface of the Wraith Guard. The deadly weapon turns and is about to fire but, perhaps the emperor does indeed protect, because Sister Cassia manages to throw her grenade just before the weapon fires and the explosion seems to disable the powerful Aeldari machine.

Krondo, sensing battle is over, disables the disintegration machine. He also heals the PDF Scout but, it is likely the man will need a new hand. Luckily augmetics will solve that issue.
OOC:

No enemies remain.
Battle is ended.

Krondo moved over to Sister Olivia and diligently took the bolter from her hand. He started working on it with various tentacular mechadendrite. There was something wrong with the bolter or may be the bearer. He wanted to voice his opinion, but so much cold glare and hot tempered Sisterhood caused him to ponder such action.

"The Emperor delivers, through faith and through fire, as by the words of Saint Immulous."

Cassia makes the sign of the hammer, before making her way over to the corpses to fire finishing shots into their heads. She doesn't think any of her teammates would have failed to bring death to the xenos, but at the same time there's no reason not to make sure. When she's done, she turns back to the group with her tongue held. She sees no need to repeat the same issues she's mentioned before.

sorry, I was busy
Sister Retributor Domitia Jurgena examines the battlefield. The multi-melta's tip is red, scalding hot, and the Retributor purges the heat with a hiss of air. She turns around.
"The Emperor protects, and so does my multi-melta" she mutters.

"Bigby! Can you fight? Most importantly, Krondo Sigma. Can he fight? Is his mind whole? Does he need the Emperor's peace?" the tall Retributor asks, loudly advancing to meet the saved prisoner. She grins at the last sentence.

"I think we've seen enough. You got the datas, I've got the man. We should go now, tho, truth be told, I suppose even this wretched ship of disgusting xenos can have a comm log. Could you access it, Venerable Tech Adept?"
Apr 3, 2024 11:35 am
The final bullet barked from the bolters signalling the assured death of the Xenos. Krondo watched the sisters do their jobs, and once the Sister Retributor spoke up, he nodded. "I can access the ship's comm log but I think I will need to access their main terminal on the bridge. Regarding the scout, he will live, though we will have to amputate the arm." He turned to the prisoner and spoke, "Greetings soldier, how did you end up in this miserable place?"

My ability to fight just reduced by 7.3 percents putting me at only 3.72 times better than an average scout. Bigby try copy Krondo voice (without effort to do it properly). He may have lost some of the blood and a few teeth, but not his strange sense of humor.

Rattling is looking forward to hear what the saved scout could share.

Sister Retributor Domitia Jurgena snickered, and then shook her head.
"Don't do that again" she scoffed, although it was clear she was somewhat entertained.

The PDF scout attempts to salute but, that’s the hand that is half disintegrated. He looks at the bones staring a few moments at his own skeleton before he finally snaps out of it. "Scout Specialist First class Reynold Jaamson ma’am. We arrived at the ship , the doors were wide open and nobody looked to be inside. Standard scout around the ship and placement of krak mines then we began the sweep into the interior. Next thing I know I am waking up in this Warp dammed place. Best guess is the xenos gassed the entry area when we walked in, something odorless and tasteless that worked fast."

He gives a nod and says, "I have no words that can thank you and yours nearly enough. Even with the hand gone I have no doubt of the horrors we might have continued to face if you had not come.".

Assuming Sister Retributor Domitia Jurgena want party to assault to the flight deck (now wounded) Bigby dare to point out lack of combat tactics:
May I request to stay behind. I'm used to Ogryn being front-line, snipers covering from behind

Krondo looked at every part of Reynold's body, trying to figure out if there was any hidden xenotech implanted as a failsafe.

Cassia stares long and hard at Bigby, though he wouldn't have known her expression due to her helmet. When she turns away, she addresses the scout.

"You didn't investigate for footprints? If the doors were open, there's no telling how many xenos left the ship before you arrived. More to the point, PDF first class where are your sentries? And reserves? Your operation seems haphazard at best, and you've yet to tell us how big your scouting contingent even was."
Apr 4, 2024 6:42 pm
There is no Xenotech implanted in the scout. The Scout Specialist First Class responds to the questioning as is appropriate to a senior officer. "We were eleven. Seargent Gillain was in charge and I took Alpha team. That’s me Private Delain, Serunal, Ravenna, and Salustaa to do the scout around the ship and plant charges. No footprints were seen and so we reported. Sergeant Gillain kept two of Bravo team with him at the vehicle to man the turret and sent Alpha team in with the rest of Bravo waiting outside las rifles ready. Looks like Scout Specialist Second Class Smith, who was outside, is well….

He shivers looking over at the man with an ape lower torso, "Whatever that furred creature is in that cage…it’s not for me to say ma’am but, mutated like that he’s not going to survive long." He shrugs and adds, "Can’t say what happened outside or to the rest of Bravo team. Best guess is nothing good." He looks over at the tube filled with blood and body parts and then looks away.

If the door is opened you note that the cockpit area, along with the cogitator in there is empty. Additionally the area below, where the weird item that activates web way gates and ship service areas are, is also free of Xenos.
Apr 5, 2024 6:15 am
Krondo reported back to Sister Jurgena, "I don't see any xenotech implants so I think he is atleast free from any xenotech heresy." When Krondo noticed the empty cockpit and the cogitator, he spoke to the Sisters, "I will try to unravel their communication from that cogitator. Please provide me cover and sweep the cockpit while I investigate the cogitator."

Krondo entered the cockpit and approached the cogitator with caution. He then uttered binary hymn of self protection and machine spirit interference to weaken the xenotech's protection barriers. Finally satisfied he tried to operate the cogitator in order to find it's mysteries.

"We move forward now. Grant the Emperor's peace to that monster if he cannot be saved" The Retributor ordered, reaching the tech adept.

"What did you find?"
Apr 8, 2024 10:57 pm
Krondo scours the cogitator and finds some more evidence of previous incursions. Sadly nothing seems to indicate a specific person. You have some leads but, nothing fully concrete. Beyond that the Xenos have thoroughly scrubbed the data.

You can easily free the rest of Alpha team and grant peace to the poor man who has ape legs. Beyond that there’s not much left here beyond ensuring the ship is turned to scrap.
Apr 9, 2024 11:47 am
Cassia walks over to where the ape man stands, and raises her bolter. She doesn't say a prayer for the man's soul, the abhorrence of mutation an unfortunate step beyond salvation whether intentional or not. Still, she grants him eternal peace in the form of a bolter shell to the man's head, before turning ready to depart the ship at a moment's notice.
Apr 10, 2024 5:27 am
Krondo furrowed his eyebrows, "Hmm, either the xenos are intelligent enough that they have erased the records of their activities or they are protected beyond my expertise. I am not getting any noteworthy communication. All I can see is some previous attempt at planetary incursion, but nothing concrete. It is highly likely that they have erased any noteworthy information." He took his data slate, created a copy of the data, and transferred it for future reference.

He turned to Sister Jurgena, "Sister, I can try to overload their fuel reservoir and blow up the ship. Your orders?"

"There is something rotten here, and I want to know more. You are free to go out, Bigby. I don't know if there are other foul Xenos around".

The veteran shook her head. "We are moving. Let's get out of here"

Krondo looked at the cogitator of the command terminal and started operating it. He tried to block the promethean valves and sabotaged their control mechanism.
