@WhiteDwarf to help your PC with motivation helping party I can recommend this:
a person close to you (relative, beloved, your mentor, ... - choose any) is affected by so called death curse ( persons previously raised from dead by means of revivify, resurrect and similar spells to wither and die over period of time).

Party goal is to stop death curse by finding destroying ungodly necromantic device called the Soulmonger, which is believed to be the cause. Once your PC ask party what are they doing in the dungeon, you will immediately have reason to support them.

Awesome. Working hard just the same to get her ready.

Most everything is ready to look at except background. Be working on that soon.

A silver weapon isn't in PHB list. May I purchase such? It is 100gp extra each weapon. So, she can only afford one. "Cornus" would look so good silvered.

Feel free to magically poof her in. She likes magic.

Criella. Most noticeably she has reddish skin, forked tail, & small horns. Obviously, she is a female Tiefling. She is a bit husky as well and a bit better looking than most. A better eye might note her folded bat wings. She tends to be wearing a breast plate & has a pair of jewel handle scimitars knows as "Cornus" & "Lee". Prefers to have a lavender scent about her. She known to be a ruins & cave explorer. Goes by the names "Lady Tiefling Slayer" and/or "Holy Tiefling Slayer" to those that have heard of her and trademark by those pair of jewel handle scimitars. And utterly hates undead.

Well then, "Cornus" is now a silver scimitar and poor Criella is 100 gp poorer in coin. She still has a fair amount of coin to her name.

She has some background done, should she have something specific written about the ToA? She is anxious already to meet Nyx, Tante, Tinkara, Vesuvius, & Zean. Any of them have notable names for themselves?

Yeah, silver weapons aren't known to do much against undead but make a great status symbol for Tiefling Criella. Also does well to distinguish the difference between the two paired scimitars "Cornus" & "Lee"



Are the character's resources documented well enough for you?

Criella has ranger spell from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. Is that fine? Not all her spells are core ranger spells. Every spell she does have is fully noted on the character are rather common spells, just some are not core ranger spells, but rather the ones Tasha expanded to allow rangers to have.

Treat Tasha's just as PHB in this game. Spells, optional features - all available in your character creation process.

Also may I ask - how would you like me to call your PC in a narrative? I can go with either Criella or just Tiefling. Or we can ask other players to figure out her a short nickname.

I believe we are close to discuss how your PC find herself in the Tomb of 9 gods. This is rough idea/proposal let me know what you think about it. We will only stick to it if you like it:
- Your PC background is the reason to leave the city and the region she calls her home. That is after she have plundered every ruin and cave nearby. My luck she got abroad a ship sailing to land rumored to be full of ruins people would dare to plunder due to undead...
- Upon arrival in Chult she learn about the most promising location - abandoned forbidden city and with party of other brave adventurers reach the city, solve the puzzles to open gates into the Tomb beneath the city. You fight through the Tomb until ... was imprisoned inside a magical carving on a wall (where current party will find and release you from)

'Criella' is preferred but people still like 'Tiefling' because they don't care for her race. She prefers adventuring party people. They tend to overlook race differences. Although you still have to keep an eye on them as it is always her way. She hates being cheated and takes it poorly.

The proposal/idea looks fine. Good possibility Criella exploits probably haven't spread here. Well, some heavy ruins exploring people might have heard of her. She does a fine job of cleaning. She probably has done one job or two already before she started Toa. Warmup you could say. She tends to leave her mark.

Better than getting poof someplace. She really dislikes the brimstone suffer smell that aways comes with it. Why do people always use brimstone transporting! It so clashes with her lavender scent she prefers.

She is rather good not starve as she lives on goodberry. Does make it hard to put on any weight and keeps her rather trim. She doesn't even travel with rations. Those hateful tasting things. She does keep a wineskin, but it frequently isn't filled with water. Usually, a selection of wine and she does prefer honey mead.

Curious cat'ness always gets the better of her. She isn't a library on magic although she does do well on silver. She actually prefers it over gold, but gold does spend better. She always has some silver jewelry on her. She does cast lower-level spells and cantrips. Curses herself for not getting a wand of detect magic as she can't spot any.

She can't see magic aura or such, but she can see invisible objects if she is closer to them. And of course, she has that standard 60' of darkvison that lacks any color. She keeps a natural dislike of invisible stuff. Not nearly as much as she hates undead.

She gets bored. You can only toss the ole dice some many times before it too gets boring. Should get some cards. That might last longer. Wizards are so mean! Tired of banging on walls.

Oh wow. I didn't get the time thought earlier. Okay we can go with the tomb centuries ago. She is much a nobody now. LOL. Yeah. Frozen does keep the boredom away. Still have to hate wizards.

You can be sure she is not a newbie. Adventuring is in her blood. She is full blooded level 10 adventurer. And is going to be surprised when she finds how more she hates wizards.

I adjusted Criella's background to account for TOA. I bet her clothing hasn't kept up with style after many centuries. She is so out of place and a bit short on relatives or really anyone she knows.

Criella is a female Tiefling with small horns, playful forked tail, reddish blend skin, & bat-like wings sprouting from shoulders which are normally folded. She is slightly comely and appears to be in her twenties.

She is wearing breast plate over a simple shirt with trousers & low soft boots. All of the clothing and armor is of strange make. She sports silver ring on her right hand with dragon wrapped around it, a fine linked silver chain necklace, pair of teardrop silver earrings, silver bracelet on her right arm with dolphins swimming around it. This is accompanied with a leather wineskin & a narrow leather weapon girdle.

She also has a dagger in her right boot sleave. On her narrow leather weapon girdle is a pair of scimitars. One on her right side is silver. She also has a leather component pouch, yen wand in holder, & a leather pouch too. She has leather backpack sporting heavy wool bedroll, longbow wrapped in a leather bag & 2 full leather quivers with arrows that are white shaft & blood red feathering.

GM: I'm guessing that Criella can't actually fly short of at least 15' wingspan area and at least 10' ceiling. Hovering in rooms is very possible. She is man-size. 10' walking corridors are a no no for flying and would be very reckless with a high chance of wing injury.
