Thad lets himself down the rope, using his own rope as well if it makes the job even easier. Then, he does what he can to steady the rope for Vatoris - or to at least catch him if he falls!

Ixion felt like he'd been in another world since the cave in but he shook himself out of it. The quest, he remembered, and the money and songs to follow. As much as he enjoyed swordplay, he was never a fan of having to climb up and down rope during exercise sessions.

"It's all prepared me for this," he joked to himself as, sword sheathed and shield stowed, he began his descent.
OOC:
Yeah, I deserved that.

Athletics - (1d20-1)

(1) - 1 = 0

GreyWord says:
The slab reduces and not fitting into it's place any more it falls
OOC:
OK time's up, "door" enlarge back. Please not quotation marks I use when call the slab a door, because these are no mechanically doors with hinges or something. Both "doors" where just big stone pieces and the first ones magically ascended into the ceilings.
The slab enlarges until it hits the side walls. You can guess it was a little bit bigger nut the magic can't break the walls. So the slab is currently 10x10 feet and stucked between walls, still standing almost vertically. It's up can actually be used as a step allowing anyone who climb up to rest (advantage on the roll to climb up this way).

Meanwhile, encouraged my how easy other made their way down Ixion start descending, putting his foot into the same tiny gap in the wall everyone else were using, but it just so happens that the gap cracks bigger and the food falls. Ixion still try to hold his wight with his arms, but weather is hot and humid in Chult (continent you are on right now) and Ixion's palms are all wet and slippery. So are the rope after few climbers.
OOC:
Either Throgin or Thaddeus can make a DC 13 STR saving throw if you try to catch Ixion (on failure you will both fall on the spikes). Your modifiers are 8 and 9 accordingly, so it doesn't much differ.

Going forward: if Throgin want to pull on the rope tied to any individual, Thaddeus can roll Athletics instead of a person he is pulling. More over if they work together with Thaddeus the roll will rolled with advantage. Obviously - they need to get up first

Throgin happily holds the rope for anyone going further

Strength save - (1d20+8)

(19) + 8 = 27

I would bet you could alley oop someone to the step formed by the former door, and then do the same to the passage floor, after which rope would be available. Again, if someone has a spike or something, I'm glad to hammer that in.

Throgin catch falling Ixion and put him on the ground gently.
OOC:
No damage to Ixion.
What do you all do next?

@Smiley does Vatoris you stay there?
Apr 4, 2024 5:55 pm
Hey Tink, throw down a rope first then I will climb up and help everyone else Throgin yells at her before walking toward the slab
Apr 4, 2024 6:35 pm
You're going to climb up?!? You mean you'll pull me in! I'm 2'7" in my best heels! That's why I've been asking for a spike or something! I've got rope, but I can't hold you!
Apr 4, 2024 6:41 pm
Throgin grunts a little and hammer and chisel from his mason's tools kit.

Would these do? Or would you prefer to stake in a Javelin?
Apr 4, 2024 7:25 pm
If you don't mind putting your chisel at risk, I'm up for it. I'll drop my rope, tie them up in it.

When Throgin has tied the equipment in, I'll pull the rope up and look for a convenient but solid crack. I'll hammer the chisel in, tie the rope to it, and toss the rope back down.

Thad helps to the off the rope and steadying it towards helping kind companions.

As the others cleared the path, Vatoris gracefully retreated a few steps. With a determined gaze, he sprinted towards the looming wall and gaping pit. With a mighty leap, he scaled the wall, running effortlessly along its surface before launching himself onto the fallen door below. In a display of sheer agility, he propelled off the door, landing in perfect synchronization next to the rest of the party, exuding an aura of cool confidence.
OOC:
Hopefully you allow this. Rolled with Acrobatics instead.
If you want Athletics it would be a 13 instead of a 22.

Acrobatics (advantage) - (2d20H1+8)

(141) + 8 = 22

Thankful that only his pride was hurt, Ixion said, "Thanks, Fist. And bravo, Bunte. Excellent form."

He hesitated a bit before he added, "If we come across any impediments that brawn cannot crush, I can create a dimensional doorway for myself and one of you. That might have been helpful before..."

OOC:
@Smiley it is your choice, but I hope you chose to use rope instead. let me know if you still choose to jump into 20 feet pit lined with spikes and I will roll fall damage + spike damage (your acrobatics will allow taking less spike damage but not prevent it).
[ +- ] Detailed reason
I love your idea with chisel, but I'm afraid it's not good enough to fix a Hempen Rope. Piton is: A piton is a steel spike with an eye through which you can loop a rope
It's a pity none got any pitons with you, let me help you here - granting you some rusted pitons (one time use, so make them count)
You remember that some pitons are in the bag of holdings - a rusted pitons you found in an abandoned city workshop. They are not sharp enough and would most probably break if you hammer them and then try to get out, but they should work for one time use.
OOC:

Since the space in the tunnel is limited I'd like to know:
Tinkara, where are you hammering the piton? Could you describe the exact spot it may or may not be of importance
Who is climbing up first? Who second. I'd like exact order if we can.
Everyone climbing - roll athletics with advantage. Everyone who has poor athletics - I suggest you let someone stronger pull you up (they roll Athletics instead and still with advantage.)
[ +- ] Map update

Rolls

Pitons you found in Omu - (4d4)

(3434) = 14

Apr 5, 2024 9:34 am
I look for a seam between the floor blocks, hopefully ~10 feet back from the edge of the pit. I will hammer in one of the pitons into the seam, driving it as deep as I can. Then I will thread my silk rope through the eye and tie it securely.. Once that's done, I'll toss the rope down to the rest of the party.
Apr 5, 2024 9:51 am
OOC:
I think we could use roots to tie the rope to, too? But pitons is more elegant way I must say:) So now we will be down to 13?
Zean will climb as second after Throgin - as I think he wanted go first? Then he will be helping Throgin secure others - probably mostly giving them a helping hand when they will be almost at the top.

Rolls

Athletics (advantage) - (2d20H1+7)

(151) + 7 = 22

Apr 5, 2024 10:19 am
OOC:
Root would have a change to break under your weight or rope slip off it.
@Tinkara: you hammer it into floor, right?

Yes, into the floor.

OOC:
I will use the rope then. Was just trying to be a little stylish.

I do have Pitons in my Burglar's pack. Plus a Hammer and Crowbar...
