So we have:
Captain Shortlived McCertaindeath from planet Redshirt (NPC)
XO played by Seuss
Medical Officer played by The_Librarian
Chief Counsellor played by Seck
Science Officer played by Grey Griffin
Security Officer played by Windyridge
Either a pilot or engineer played by Stefron

If everyone agrees, then we can make these characters, but now's the time to make adjustments. I think all of those work really well for both parts of the mission, even if not everyone goes on an away mission.

I am: Public

Happy with this crew and ready to make a character
Want to see changes (outlined in a post below)

I'm going for a pilot. With a medic and a science office, we have got enough brains but need someone who can fly a spaceship.

I'm.... I'm sure that name sounds much better in the original Klingon.

I'm provisionally on board, provided we will have command over our vessel when it becomes important.

But a versatile Operations Manager would really round out the crew, even if it does leave Chief Engineer vacant.

Alright, everyone is cleared to leave stardock and make characters at full impulse power. I've updated the first post in this thread to provide a template character sheet. There is also an online generator that I've used but not extensively, if you'd like to play around with that.

Let me know if you have any questions about the process.

I've used the generator a few times
It's pretty helpful

Oo, that character generator is pretty breezy.

May I present for the Captain's approval, Chief Science Officer Lieutenant Aurin-Ah.

Aurin-Ah is a striking Aurelian, with oil-black plumage, highlighted by streaks of green at his wingtips, and in eyebrow-like highlights over his striking, solid blue eyes. Tall, for a human, he is average height for his people, with a slender, wiry body. Over his shoulders, like a stole of office, he wears an open blue coat, loosely fastened at the waist, a symbol of his role as a scientist.

His service record indicates long but largely uneventful consecutive tours of duty aboard the USS Jane Austen, a vessel that performed deep space exploration near the Neutral Zone. While his studies are, like any good Starfleet scientist, wide-ranging, and the Jane Austen's mission outwardly exploratory, it is easy to see that his specialties in sensory apparatus and subspace theory would be a great strategic asset along the frontier still prowled by the Romulans, where a constant game of technological cat-and-mouse is played around cloaking devices and ever more sophisticated sensor networks.

The length of his service to Starfleet might suggest a higher rank for a competent officer, but he seems to have been passed over for promotion, the Jane Austen's findings published under a series of Chief Science Officers who served above him. A deeper reading of his record would reveal numerous transfer requests that were denied, until the Jane Austen was decommissioned for extensive refit, and its Captain retired from Starfleet service.

Aurin-Ah is generous in spirit, and somewhat garrulous, but is reserved about his own inner life, and is sometimes taken by melancholic moods. To lift his spirits, and those around him, he has a habit of celebrating the more jovial secular alien holidays, of which there are more than enough to fill a calendar year.

I haven't seen a Caitian in game before. Could offer to place a smorgasbord of Betazoid dinner ... um ... guests.

There is no beautiful Trek characters that hath not some strangeness in the proportion.

While I've been bemused by some of the Lower Decks I've seen so far, I think it's important to be able to sit back and take your own character seriously. If the reason to play a Caitian is just the wet fur jokes, I'd lean towards the Vulcan. But if you're really vibing the Caitian for non-punchline reasons, then vibe away.

Yeah, I decided to Caitian. Want to see what I can do with a more serious character. Just need to transfer the pdf to the sheet.

That looks good to me, @Seck.

@seuss, how's it coming along? Need a hand with anything?

@Qralloq, I added my character to the game, I think it just needs your approval :-)

Executive Officer Commander Cole Walker

Cole is as rugged and tough as the mountain terrain he was born and raised in. A rancher whose family's ties to the land went back generations before their planet, and ranch, were ceded to the Cardassians as a part of a series of treaties signed in the late 2360s and early 2370s. With his livlihood and future suddenly in question, Cole was convinced to join and his application to the acadamy sponsored by the Starfleet Captain tasked with assisting in the colonists relocation, who saw the leadership qualities in the Ranch Foreman necessary to make a great officer.

That Captain would later defect to the Maquis, attempting to lure Cole away from Starfleet with the promise of reclaiming his families ranch only to be thwarted by Cole's sense of duty and hard work instilled in him from the hardships of frontier life as he turned his one time mentor in. The incident, despite the loyalty shown to Starfleet and the Federation, stalled his advancement as it seems his superiors could not fully trust that he was not a Maquis agent. With the onset of the Dominion War that outlook would quickly change as Cole distinguished his self time and time again upon the front lines, often time seeing him and his crew through by sheer will and refusal to give in, that made him a highly sought after 'Number 1'.

Cole is a hard worker, no-nonsense, and natural born leader respected (and slightly both inspiring and feared) by every crew he has served with.

So the last thing we should do is pick a ship, name it, and name some officers.

If anyone wants a hand in any of that, go for it. Otherwise, I'll put that together and get a first post ready to go.

Some name suggestions:

Ship: SS Neutron, SS Condor, SS Raven.

Officer name ideas: Nicol Castillon, Brelon Marra, Thari ch'Siri.

My vote is for a Prometheus-class, followed by Magellan-class, the Akira-class.

Ship Names: Eos, Mjolnir, Caliburn ...
