"Why are you still here? You shouldn't be." Derv says, followed by a quick "Well? Get!" before Oswin responds.

"Heh, of course young paladin. I was getting my party drinks before my life ended, celebrating the upcoming reward of hot wings and gold. Just answering the four questions left."

Oswin smiles sadly at his successors as the arm that held the warhammer fades. The warhammer he dropped blowing away with Derv’s last words.

"Who send you to Cinderhowl's lair?" Brickowsky asks his questions. Maybe the group was send by someone that planned this from the beginning?

"As I said, the new proprietor of this fine establishment, Inn Plain Sight. ‘Muppet’ or ‘Fairly’ or something like that. Big dragon amulet around his neck? Must love dragons as he wanted us to get the egg before it froze to death. Three questions left."

He slowly stands up and the leg he pushes off of vanishes like his arm.

what is Merry's deal? I saw him teleport out of his kitchen.

OOC:
Heh, so we don’t have a situation like the D&D movie, is Merton’s question to the group or to Oswin?
Jun 24, 2024 2:30 am
Oswin cocks his head to the side as he considers Merton's question.

"Merry...? Sounds familiar. Not sure what he was doing in the kitchen, but if he teleported, he probably used a mid-level spell and may have other spells to watch out for. If he teleported, he must have been in a hurry or gone far away. Why not just walk?"

Oswin ironically gestures down with the arm that is left at his remaining leg that now slowly fades away as well.

What do you know about the goals of the dragon cult?

Oswin looks thoughtful at Leana's question.

"Hrm hrm, dragon cult. I remember Althea and I researching the area and came across something like that. They worship that dragon god...'Tammy' or 'Mattie,' something like that. Trying to release her on the world, the usual. They were actually some of the first settlers in this area. I'm sure their detritus is scattered about this very valley."

Oswin's body now fully fades away and his disembodied head turns to Hindle for the last question.
Jun 25, 2024 1:47 am
Flustered by the ghosts seemingly unerring preternatural stare at him through the darkness, Hindle drops his invisiblity and step forwards. "I'm assuming a dragon's den is the best place to keep a Red Dragon's egg warm, so where exactly is Cinderhowl's lair?"
Jun 25, 2024 5:40 pm
Oswin looks in the direction of the barrels in the corner, presumably also the direction of where Cinderhowl's lair must be.

"Ah, I guess it doesn't matter now to disclose its location. It is up in the mountain range, past this Inn as we are on the edge of the trail down into the valley. It is easy to find, following that dragon's destruction to a large cave opening. I don't think she expects visitors so she doesn't really hide it."

Oswin sighs and takes one last look at his body.

"Please, find who did this and if any of the Hard Way need assistance. The church in the village will see to my bones. As fellow adventurers, feel free to use what you need..."

As Oswin utters the last sentence, he smiles serenely and closes his eyes. A white flash and his spirit is gone.

Leana signs a druidic symbol on one of the bones. Oswin has deserved his rest. She gives herself a moment of stillness, then gets up and goes in the direction of the rat that has disappeared. If there is more to this cellar still, she is determined to find it. Her fox accompanies her towards the last wine rack and sniffs the air.

"Just so you know, we have to clear the upstairs of this inn as well. There is a kitten still missing." she states while searching for the passage.

"Uhm, yes.", Hindle says as he picks up the earing from where he dropped it. "We should also look for clues as to who that 'Merry Rumwell' was. He wanted us out of here fast for some reason and I doubt it was", waving his hand abscently at Oswin's pile of bones and remaing detritus, "just this."

Calling Miet back from the aether, he shoos her up the stairs. "Have a look around upstairs for any surprises. Stay unseen, though." As Miet fades from sight, Hindle heads back to the stairs, presumably following behind her. Just as he places his hand on the railing he hurries up, calling out annoyedly, "Yes, I'll open the door for you."
OOC:
Hindle has another cursory glance around the kitchen before opening the door to allow Miet access to the common room and hopefully upstairs. He's looking for any closed pantry doors and such, and will have a look see before heading back out to the Common Room.

Leana is able to deftly move around and climb over the barrels to a small open space in the corner. Her fox swiftly moves ahead of her, sniffing at the wine racks. By the time she joins the fox, she can see its white tail tip whipping away as it tries to sniff further into the small hole the rats must have disappeared into.

Please make another perception check.

Hindle takes a quick look about the kitchen for anything that could have been missed before their adventure in the cellar. Most items seem to have a thin layer of dust and appear undisturbed. The only items of interest appear to be the barrel that Merry got the chicken wings from, a cupboard above the barrel, and a small canvas bag under the counter. After noting this, Hindle swiftly opens the swinging door for Miet who zooms back out into the dining room. He is aware that Miet sees no dangers in the dining room and seems excited about something sparkly up the stairs.

Briefly concentrating on the pixie, Hindle thinks at her, "Yes, I like sparkles too. Have a look see what it is."

Hindle sends his words down to Merton, "I'm just having a look around in the kitchen for anything... suspicious. Well, more of anything suspicious."
OOC:
Hindle checks the bag first, feeling at its contents through the material before looking inside and dumpting it out (if solid objects are contained). He then inspects the cupboard above the barrel, before having a look inside the barrel itself and having a final sniff of the tangy sauce.
