Casanova's training kicks in as soon as the warning comes. She turns and takes stock of the situation, her hand flicking the protective strap of her phaser gun. She always has it switched to stun just in case anyway, but with these were-dogs more than ever she won't even think of switching the setting. Even still, as she watches Kurumi dancing across the room to try and calm them an idea comes to her mind.

Excitable dogs tend to like a certain game. She looks around for the closest ball or stick shaped object she can find, and settles on breaking a stool leg which she promises to repay later. With a roll she puts herself between Kurumi, in case the plan doesn't work, and the momentarily mesmerized dogs. She holds the stick up and shakes it around for them to follow before throwing it out the window and pointing after it dramatically.

RICHAEL PACKSON’S
RUNE ROCKER

Would the were-dogs have actually harmed Kurumi? It’s hard to say as she easily evades their blitz. Her graceful dance lights up their doggy-eyes.

And before the alpha can start literally barking orders, Casanova breaks the leg off a stool!

"Ray," Bart Ender growls, "roo rake it, roo gotta ray fo—"

Casanova hurls the stool leg out an open window!

"—ROH ROY!!" the bartender yips gleefully! He and the other males all leap through closed windows to chase the leg!

Only Chatty Cathy, Johnny Piano and the mysterious alpha remain.

Cathy is clearly impressed with our heroines and she doesn’t think much of the alpha. "Roo should rust rivv up, Rike," she says to the alpha. "Rhen Absinthe riddint have roo rarrested, rat was roar recond rance. Rrow she’s gone and roa’re trying to rut? Rart a new rang or rumthing?"

RICHAEL PACKSON
ALPHA OF THE PACKSON FIVE

Richael replies, "Not a gang, Cathy. A pack!" Four loyal were-dogs peer out from behind the bad alpha. He calls to the were-dog seated at the piano, "Hit it, Johnny!"

The Packson Five dance in synch and let out a howl that blasts the roof off of Pub! The full moon is bright red, centered in the sky, and magnified twenty times the size the moon normally appears in the land that Kurumi had known. (Casanova has seen stranger skies.)

As the pub walls topple over, more were-dogs from the village dance into the scene. Two of the were-dogs are teenage girls in tennis outfits. One girl drops her tennis ball. It rolls toward Casanova. She looks at the space commander with puppy-dog eyes…
OOC:
Well played, Kurumi and Casanova! The 3D actions still apply for the remainder of this scene! You are not in danger of getting hurt, but you do need to out-perform the Packson Five!
• Roll 3D Sprite to out-dance the Packson Five and win over the village were-dogs!
• Roll 3D Hero to throw a tennis ball, barstool leg or other fetchable object!

Casanova blinks, taken aback by the situation. Sure she'd seen weirder skies, but dance parties weren't exactly a common place in Space Command. She really didn't have dancing shoes either, for that matter. She could make a ship dance around plasma bolts if that's what the situation called for, but actual dancing was another case entirely.

But the ball bumping into her boots distracts her, along with the puppy-dog eyed tennis girls. Casanova has never played tennis, but she can recognise the outfits at least. It reminded her of one of those special edition situations she'd been in now and then, but usually they ended up as some kind of beach sport instead. Well, not that tennis was what the girl wants, but... yeah.

Nodding, Casanova flicks the ball up into her hand with impressive football skills before readying herself to pitch it far away from the dance fight!

"In the name of Four-Headed Sage, this thing is metal! We don't even need to get the Hero Sword Guy - with all this fire going on around, the dude's roasted!" Pira, completely ignoring all the persuasion effort around her, points at the hut and laughs. "He's gonna be real toasty after this ordeal! And these chickens inside must all also be metal if they're still clucking; which is very weird biologically, but cyborg birds are not much weirder than cyborg kangaroos..."

She looks pensively upon the charging building, then shrugs and unenthusiastically yells: "Yeah, be a cool chicken or something! Eat a trademarked protein bar and take a break!" Pira then scoffs and crosses her arms. "Sorry, gals, diplomacy's not my thing."

While diplomacy is not Pira’s thing, she and Thundra fully support the Princess. And it seems Princess Diamond’s words are… somewhat effective.

The giant chicken remains gigantic. And—

"🔥BA🔥GAWK🔥"

—she still breathes fire, but at least has the courtesy to aim it well over our heroines’ heads.

But the egg-laying suggestion? The giant chicken takes that suggestion to heart, albeit an oversized metal heart that pumps fire. Anyway, she takes the suggestion to furnace, and…

"🔥BA🔥GAWK🔥"
🥚

…she lays an enormous metal egg. And then she flies away, chicken coop and all.

As for the egg…

💥

It explodes, of course. And once the smoke clears, our heroines find themselves peering down into some sort of underground lair.

Pira leans over the edge of the newly created underground passage. "That lady must be some sort of a pottery fiend! Family craft and all, but this is a little excessive." She points at the clay pots. "They're not broken, right? Hence, the sword guy hasn't been here and isn't here. So the chicken just kidnapped him."

She straightens up and turns around. Now that the cornwall maze is fully heaps of popcorn on the ground and its inhabitants are awkwardly wandering around, it is a straight line of sight to the house. Piranha puts her hands together and yells towards it: "Yo, Questgiver, your barn ate Hero Sword Guy and blew up your stash! Might wanna do something about it!" She pauses, then adds: "Do you want us to do something about it?!"

Penelope is taken aback by the destruction, and her giant hen flying off.

"Uh… if you don’t mind, yes," she replies to Pira, "Please."
OOC:
Oh wow… not one, but TWO supers.
The Packson Five is down to the Packson ONE, as all four back-up performers drop their jaws at the sight of Kurumi’s super-smooth moves.

Most of the fans have already run off after the tennis ball. The only two left are an elderly couple. The old man likes Casanova’s game, so he throws his cane and tells his wife, "Retch!" She replies, "Ret it roarself!" and the two walk off together hand in hand toward the cane.

Richael Packson turns to Kurumi. "This dance-off is a foregone conclusion. I’m outclassed. If you got a fan club, sign me up!"

The twelve-minute night comes to an end, and while Richael Packson remains a dog-person, the rest of the villagers revert to their normal selves.

Bob Questgiver is looking sheepish (but not sheepdoggish) as he returns with a barstool leg in his mouth. He lets it fall from his mouth as casually and dignified as he can muster, then tells our heroines, "Without Missy Girl, I’m a Questgiver in name only. You might find our little green fairy if you follow the Polygon Trail.

"There’s a large chicken coop on my prop…er…ty…"

He looks up, and notices his chicken coop is flying away, thanks to his oversized chicken.

"Well… there’s a secret door under where the coop was, anyway. From there you can head to The Underworld and hopefully find our beloved green fairy."

Lenny Loserhand gives Bob a look. "Don’t you think you’re being a bit presumptuous? She probably just wanted to join our card game."
OOC:
The Packson Five would need you to make really bad rolls to last to a third round. Let’s get the full party together for the underground lair!

The sun is over the horizon and everything in the Village of Cititon is returning to normal. The corn maze is sprouting up into place, and Bob and Penelope’s giant iron hen is making a U-turn and flying her coop home.

The underground lair is still accessible, but the way days and nights work in this land leads our heroines to believe it won’t be accessible for long.

Sleeve Ace folds his arms as Chatty Cathy wraps up yet another exposition. "C’mon, Cathy. Those ladies woulda figured that out."

"Do they know Hero Sword Guy is down there?"

"The whole village knows, thanks to you."

"You’re welcome."

As Sleeve Ace and Chatty Cathy bicker, several Beardos and Kitty-Caterwauls poke their heads through the corn field and sing The A Capella Underworld Song.

Seemingly endless steps disappear into the darkness below. But once our heroes descend, torches on the wall and candles on the steps light themselves.

Once at the bottom, there are two doors to choose from. On the left, there are several broken clay pots leading to the door. On the right, the clay pots are still intact.
OOC:
Where do you go? Do you split up again, or stay together?
Jul 9, 2024 12:52 pm
"What? Now he is underground?! Make up your mind, narration people!" Pira hisses in frustration and vents it via piercing some of the popcorn with her claws and popping it into her mouth, chewing it fiercely. "Also, what's up with this day cycle? And what do you mean village is back to normal, since when it wasn't? I swear, these omnipotent beings always expect you to know the meta stuff."

Her mood seems to improve slightly when she sees their other companion in the distance, and Pira waves enthusiastically at Kurumi and Casanova. "Hey, Dance Queen, Space Commander, you looking fresh! Did you figure out where to go? Because I'm not listening to the voice from above telling me to climb into a suspicious underground lair, thank you."
Jul 9, 2024 12:58 pm
Kurumi wipes the sweat from her forehead. She had not danced that much since they left the city. She catches her breath, since she came running to the underground lair. "All this dancing and not a drop of water or a power drink!" she complains to the other girls with short breath.
Jul 9, 2024 1:02 pm
Bart Ender immediately hands Kurumi a root beer.

Princess Diamond takes a moment to stare vacantly her eyes crossed and tongue half out, "Bye bye birdie! Bye bye!" She waves to birdie as it runs off. What a nice birdie! She shakes her head, "Oh ugh! I hate those moments a vacant stare my eyes crossed and tongue hanging out. Why would anyone want that anyway?"

She looks over at Pira and says, "Huh, yeah why didn't the chicken just burn him or something? Why send him into the deep foreboding cry...oh...right...never mind. Yep, it was her, her bad luck had clearly rubbed off on this quest. Maybe without her the other two could have saved Sword Guy already. Was she just ruining their mojo by being here?

No, she was here for a reason and that was to help people...and maybe find a pretty...no, no just here to help people. So, what if she never liked Hunky Hunkerson, Randolph Muscles, or Phillip Anaconda. They'd only been around for one quest anyway and she'd properly kissed each one on the cheek when she finally saved them though she hated that moment each time, ugh rough face not soft at all.

Pira, noticing Diamond looking her way, immediately flexes her arms and poses stylishly. It's one of her best poses, the one she does whenever the tournament announcer declares which fighters are going to clash; there is no way the princess will not be impressed! She even winks, for extra effect. Or is that overdoing it? Regardless, the pose is grandiose, and her suit must look especially flattering in the combination of sunlight and torchlight!

"Dancing?" After watching Diamond for a moment, Piranha tilts her head at Kurumi. "Did you just dance yet another boss into submission? You should totally join the tournament, I'm pretty sure we don't have any dancers yet. You'll rock it!"
Jul 10, 2024 9:46 am
"Yes I did, it was a whole kennel too. Thanks for the kind words Pira. So what now? Do we enter the hole? I do feel like a certain Alice..." she says and tries to remember the Alice girl. Was she from another dance club? Kurumi feels refreshed with the root beer she drank at the bar although she would prefer it with some vanilla ice cream.
Jul 10, 2024 10:13 am
"Of course we enter the hole! Onwards!" Thundra declares, leading the way down the steps. Once at the bottom, she looks at both doors. "Let us go the path of the broken vases. Perhaps we will find what broke them, and kick its butt!"

The Pottíman Training Grounds

Our heroines stay together and they follow the trail of broken pottery. The room they enter is plain, rectangular, devoid of any treasure chest or choice of direction—

SLAM!

—thanks to a door slamming shut, blocking off the return trip. It’s a cage door with bars spaced just enough for a fairy to slip through, but the bars are sharply barbed, teeming with rust and filth and little bugs or maybe those are shadow-wisps. Trying to force these doors open seems like a really bad idea.

But the way to the next room remains open, and as our heroines undoubtedly move as carefully as they can so as not to rush into any traps—

—the entire room tilts (or perhaps gravity itself)! Our heroines slide across the room and fall in the dark, landing on their bottoms!

There are some sounds of stone sliding against stone. Then an inferno lights behind the girls! Mirrors about the ceiling reflect the flames and bathe the room in golden light. And the statues about the room? Their glassy eyes reflect the fire as well. They seem drawn to the flame, for a hopeful moment, like moths.

But you know it’s you they’re after.

You get the feeling that these creatures (or mechanisms?) can’t be reasoned with. They’re pointing weapons at you. You have time to act before they use them, but it’s clear that they will.

Take action!
2D Hero = attack, feat of strength, or do something brazenly heroic
2D Sprite = magic, make a move that’s deft, graceful or stealthy, or do something zestfully fey

Casanova had been following along in silence, which in the circumstances wasn't unusual for her. What was unusual was going underground. She never really did on any of her missions; she went into buildings or through spaceships so being inside wasn't a big deal, but descending below earth level didn't sit right with her. She was meant to go upwards to space, not downwards.

Whatever the case, she chewed her gum with consternation and regretted her choice in sunglasses (but was too stubborn to take them off) and no one was surprised when the room tilted and took her by surprise...

The moment she lands, she rolls into a crouched position with her phaser gun in hand. She glances at the newfound enemies and wonders if the phaser blasts will have any affect on earth as she shoots to stun.

When the room floor tilts and coughs them up into the abyss, Pira immediately realigns herself in the air and lands with a flourish. The tournament did this sometimes, for especially fancy battles - area hazards, changes in the terrain, all the good fun stuff. There was even a combatant who dragged opponents into the fiery underground dimension, a little like this one except with more flames. And bones. Cool guy.

"Why must we enter the hole? We always find this," Piranha gestures towards the clay figures as they surround the group, "in the hole! Yes, we only have a sample of like two, but it's a pattern, don't you think? Hey, clay guys, we're looking for a pot-breaking guy, you seen him?!"

As the statues reply with only cracking and stomping and mechanical clicks, she sighs and cracks her knuckles. "Okay then, brawl time, then asking questions!" Pira eyes the walking clay, then grins and takes a running start, leaping right over the pot beings and trying to land on one of their heads! "Fish Leap!"
