"Unless we have a way to coordinate our attacks I suggest we stay together. You very well may arrive at the throne room long before us, or encounter a threat. We would have no way to know, or be able to help."

"If we are in agreement, I will take the lead and move forward"

Chironides drinks a healing potion bringing him to full. He then activates the defensive field on his armor giving him 10 temp hp and activates his starry cloak which forces attacks against him to have disadvantage.
Lastly he cast haste on himself

Slamming his hammer against his shield the massive Centaur readies himself for battle.

Kelnes drinks his own healing potion as well.

(43) + 2 = 9

Reminder: I use the house rule that potions of healing are always an action but you don't roll, you just get the max, so a potion of healing is 10 hp, greater is 20, etc.
Jul 3, 2024 5:23 pm
Kelnes then pumps himself with lay on hands to max
OOC:
leaves me with 1hp of Lay on Hands for an emergency revive of someone

Isaiah also drinks one.
Follow the leader attack the queen he instructs his summoned elemental and takes position behind the doors - spell caster don't plan to move in immediately, but will follow rest of the party with a delay.

Kadmos nods. "I'm about as ready as I can hope to be. I have a few tricks up my sleeve, but I will say the fog cloud worked very well for me. If things get bad, perhaps the concealment would be worth it? Just something to keep in mind."

You enter through the double doors and find yourself in an expansive room. There is water deep on the left and right, and you see statues of what appear to be people worshiping someone up ahead. Towering statues of snake heads are before you, and you see areas on either side where one could easily get in or out of the water. Stairs ahead of you take you about 10 feet up to a place you think is 20 feet above the water. the Ceilings appears to be 50 feet above the water level, thus 40 feet above you now, 30 feet above the section ahead, 20 feet above the section above that, and 10 feet above the section in back. Due to the higher elevation, you can't see past the section where people are worshiping. To do so, you would have to be in the next section. Despite the ritual that should be going on, the area is oddly quiet save for the sounds of water flooding in from the left and right.

What do you each do?

Kadmos will simply begin making his way forward.

OOC:
Does it look like I could get in and out of the water from any point on the bridge or only certain points of it?

Anxious to locate an enemy, Chironides trots over to R33 and then straight up the wall onto the ceiling before trotting over to R22.

You can enter the water from anywhere as long as you are at end edge. I will point out that I forgot to mention one thing about the water. Nothing seems on the surface, but when you breathed in the water in order to breath underwater, you got the sense there was something foul in the water that you narrowly resisted.

Earth Elemental follows Kadmos while Isaiah switches to Dragon Constellation and rise 10 feet up hovering in the air to get a better look at the first section and see the front line characters. Isaiah will follow Kadmos at a 30-40 feet distance

OOC:
I'm going to move Omeros up, as I think it is safe to assume he would rather be with the party than by himself.
As you enter the room, you clearly see a throne that is high up above where you are. Surprisingly, the throne is empty, though you see it is surrounded by statues of people that appear to be in heroic poses, like trophies of the heroes she is most proud to have defeated due to their fame or how cockey they were. On the farthest wall, those who are flying or on the ceiling notice a woman chained to the wall. She appears to be unconscious, and there is some sort of light shining on her from a snake head above her.

Hythonia

Suddenly, you hear the sound of water shifting, followed by a voice that seems to bounce off of the walls and thus be too difficult to pinpoint the origin. "Another group of heroes. More statues for my collection. With I smash you to pieces, or keep you as trophies? Only time will tell. I would tell you to bring a message to the princess's father, but he will get that message soon enough when she becomes a Gorgon at midnight during the full moon. Now, who wishes to look deeply into my eyes first? I promise they are the most beautiful thing you will see, hahahahaha!" She then climbs out of the water and over the walls with ease in front of her throne.
OOC:
I will roll initiative for you all now. There will be 2 groups: those that go after Hythonia's lair actions but before Hythonia, and those that go after Hythonia. On round 1, there might be some people who go before the lair action, but those that do will then join group 2 in those that go after Hythonia.

I will update the battle information, but it will be:

Hythonia

Hythonia takes a lair action centered on N23, getting everyone but Chironides and Isaiah.

I'm going to go ahead and roll the confusion affects now. Chironides and Kadmos are up, and they are not affected, so this won't come into effect until after, but I will add it to the battle information.

It seems that the ranger will be allowed to act normally, and Omeros and Kelnes will effectively skip their turns as they can't take actions or move.

Rolls

Omeros Confusion Effect - (1d10)

(4) = 4

Kelnes Confusion Effect - (1d10)

(6) = 6

Ranger Confusion Effect - (1d10)

(10) = 10

Big reminder: anyone who starts their turn within 30 feet (6 squares, no extra cost for diagonals) MUST declare if they are looking away or not. If you do not look away or fail to mention if you look away, you must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw. On a 14, 15, 16, or 17, you start turning to stone and are restrained. If you moved closer to her, this would occur the moment you are 30 feet from her. If you get an 18 or higher, you are fine for 1 round. if you get a 13 or less, you immediately become petrified and someone will need to use their action to give you one of the potions the king gave you or greater restoration if someone knows it, or you are effectively dead. If you do look away, you have disadvantage on attacks against her and any feature you use that says "that you can see" is not available.

Moving towards the voice, Kadmos runs down potential strategies in his head. Hastily he forms a checklist of sorts, and settles on what he's starting with.

Once he gets close enough to Hythonia, the ground beneath their feet rumbles and a huge hand made of earth and stone erupts, attempting to grab the medusa queen.

OOC:
Double checking -- Are M14 and M15 considered adjacent to Hythonia? Assuming they are, just checking for placement.

Also, based on her circle, I assume she is a large creature?

Unless either previous assumption is wrong... Kadmos moves to M15, and the hand erupts from M14 to catch Hythonia.

OOC:
is the confusion considered a charm effect? it doesn't sound like it but might as well ask
