assuming the summary info was shared
Upon learning about the plaque Nyx suggests The section stating "The ring is a path to another tomb" may apply to the pool of water. It may take me back to where I came from but I doubt it will be that easy.

As for "dead abhorring sunlight", perhaps the door is opened by shining sunlight onto the undead in the door?

I'll take up a hovering position out in the open area, about 20' from the door with the chained undead. I'll ascend enough to get an angle on the creatures when/if my companions are engaged with them. I'll be ready to attack with spells.

Wait one moment please.

Tante Lude carefully examines this hallway and the doors leading into it, being careful not to get too close to the rotting creatures. She is looking for notches, niches, levers, or other ways to possibly open a skylight or the like upon the area. She pays particular attention to the ceiling as we have a flying creature with us.

@Psybermagi @badbaron if you are simply "looking" for concealed mechanisms, there are visually none. If you however would try to invest time trying to concealed mechanisms that are not immediately visual, I would like to ask you to pick an object (i.e. pool) or up to 5x5 feet of a wall/ceiling/floor and roll perception check. I will narrate your PC spending significant amount of time and address your roll. For details and consequences of failure see OOC chat.
P.S. Sorry for doing it the way you are probably not used to, but that's how I want it to happen in this particular game

No worries, just feeling the waters, as it were. Basically looking around then moving on to stay with the group before investigating in detail. Investigation guidelines noted for future.

Everyone is very carefully approaching door looking into all directions looking at every step they make while keeping one aye on the zombies. They stop near doors afraid to reach zombie heads. Zombie eyeless heads randomly turn from flying Tinkara to Lude and back. As if sniffing the air with they empty noses or watching the live flesh with their empty aye holes.

You realize the three holes in the doors match zombie heads, so they can't reach you unless decide to put heads out the holes, but they seem too hungry for your flesh to avert.

It's just too obvious a setup. We all know this is a trap of some kind with the zombies as bait. What's the trap?

"So you think just cutting off their heads now that they are sticking out like that, will not be a good idea?" - Zean asks curious with a visible hint about disgust towards everything undead.

Do we still have those mask that we got at the beginning of this dungeon?

to new players and anyone who forgot - Pedrop refers to from here there were six undead each wearing a mask made of papier-mâché and feathers

I don't see it noted you would pick them with you in my records , but we can assume so. Adding to my DM charsheet

Nyx sends his familiar to investigate the door. Looking through it's eyes he tries to determine if anything can be seen through the holes around the zombie heads. If the room beyond can be seen at all and a safe location is available then perhaps he can dismiss his familiar then resummon it within the room. This should let him examine the room to get an idea of it's potential threat.

Please note that flying monkey has no dark vision at least the one that is printed in the book I'm running this adventure from. If you summon it into the room it will see mostly nothing in there.
Zombie heads almost perfectly fit the holes and it is hard to see anything past them more over they are not allowing enough light into the room behind, but you could grasp an impression of a larger room being behind the doors, but the rool is covered in darkness

"Bow as the dead god intoned." - Zean cited out loud, thinking about the zombies. AND: checking if they behave in any specific way? Are there anything more significant futures about them? Are those human-before heads?

Humans before. Chultian locals.
Behave typical for a zombie

If any of you can produce light within the room I can send my familiar within to look for any additional dangers or means to open the door Nyx explains his plan to the other
Oct 28, 2024 3:00 pm
"I have a cantrip that produces light, but I have to touch the object. If you can work out how to get it into the room, I could cast the spell on a copper piece or something."

Pulling one of the seeds from his pouch Nyx sends it floating through the air to the faerie with a few muttered words.
[ +- ] Mage Hand (+1act@30'=1min*VS)
Once the seeds is flowing he guides it around the undead heads and into the room. If all goes well he will then send his familiar into it's soul space then resummon it within the room where it will fly above the reach of the undead.

GreyWord says:

Zombie heads almost perfectly fit the holes and it is hard to see anything past them more over they are not allowing enough light into the room behind, but you could grasp an impression of a larger room being behind the doors, but the roof is covered in darkness
Tante Lude trains her darkvision up toward that darkened roof.

I'm sorry if it was not clear the first time. You can't see much into the room mostly because skeleton heads block the vision. Not because of the lack of light. I only noted the lack of light inside because one player wanted to send the only creature that would suffer of it.

Nyx manage to get the seed into the room and take risk summoning flying monkey in the space he don't see lucky enough monkey is alive and zombies don't care about it. Through your familiar ayes you see that The gnashing heads belong to three zombies that are chained to a pulley bolted to the ceiling on the south side of the door. (you can't know what that pulley would do when turned, but it's obvious zombie moving south would trigger pulley rotation)

You can also observer the rest of the room: Six glass cauldrons brimming with humanoid bones line the walls of this tomb, at the center of which stands an ancient chariot bearing a bronze sarcophagus with treasure strewn atop it. Paintings on the chariot's body show a tall bird with a long, sharp beak. On the south wall, a bronze shield bears the embossed image of a Chultan warrior carrying a spear, below an inscription that reads, "Bow before no one." Four bronze statues stand on pedestals to either side of the shield. They depict Chultan warriors: one holding a sword, two with spears, and one missing its face.

Ceilings in the room are 12 feet high

After ensuring the monkey has the light source and is relatively safe he relays to the others the information he has gleened. If we can get the zombies to retreat then the door may open. Acorrding to the clue the undead fear the sun. Have you found any symbols of the sun or is it perhaps as simple as a torch?

With a word and gesture Nyx cups his hand which now holds a magical flame. He aproaches and holds the flame
