Morik looked down to inspect what the others were inspecting, his face already scrunched. "Don't like the look of this, Jeffery."
OOC:
Morik is supposed to be at the front or near the front, not the back. He's got too much HP and should take the hits for the others.

"Mara is a wonderful name for our most impressive metal friend." Eozindra smiles as the conversation between the pairs of siblings unveils the fact that despite the vastly different upbringings, both sets of kin were able to find very similar bonds among their blood.

As the group slows their path to inspect some finding along the walkway, the bard peers curiously down with the rest. "What do you suppose…?"

Honestly, even if she did roll it well, there was zero percent chance Zin would be able to identify anything in nature. Unless she read about it, it’s all pretty new to her still.

While Ishi stays vigilant watching the tunnel ahead, Elowin stops to confer with her colleagues. She uses her rapier to scrape one of the strange slips off of the gritty floor. Eozindra uncovers the gear briefly, so the group can get a better look, but dazzles her own eyes in the process. "It's not droppings..." Morik, Adran, and Elowin realize that what they're looking at are the molted casings of some kind of invertebrate creature...or rather, many invertebrate creatures. With that, they pause to listen for a long moment. Above the soft gurgle of the sewage flow, there is a slight sound: a rustling, skittering noise...

The party is currently in a long tunnel, with a 5' walkway to the "left" of a sewage channel maybe 6' wide. Morik can tell that there is a very slight slope heading down in the direction the party is heading, further evidenced by the fact that the sewage water is flowing more quickly here. There are narrower side tunnels feeding into this one: 50' ahead is a tunnel, and 30' behind is another tunnel. I'll endeavor to post a map later this morning. Edit: here's the map.

Everyone, roll initiative and describe what you're doing. @Kilikina, you may still roll your WIS (Nature) check, also.

Snakes and reptiles also mulch, right? This is a bit outside her area of expertise, but she readies Lunas light (Fairy Fire) as she might gonna need it soon.

"Ooh, this looks like a terrible place for this to happen." Eozindra pulls her crossbow from its holster and loads up her first bolt. With the weapon ready and a second piece of ammunition prepped in her hand, the bard looks around the space to try and identify the source of movement.
OOC:
Can we surmise how deep the sewage river is? And how quickly it’s flowing? Trying to figure out if getting knocked into it is going to be a bigger problem than just being super gross.

Surprised by the weird things underfoot, she tries to take a closer look before hearing the skittering. Unsheathing her rapier, she keeps her head on a swivel to make sure nothing sneaks up behind them. "Please don’t let this be another creature in my mind," she mutters concerned.
OOC:
She did grow up in the city to be fair… I feel this is accurate of her nature skills lol

Redamancy says:

OOC:
Three feet deep, and it's flowing like a gentle stream: it's not going to sweep anyone off their feet, but it is perceptibly moving.
grifter730 says:

OOC:
Yes: grey is the walkway (pretty dry) and the yellow-brown is the channel (pretty wet). The little horizontal yellow-brown lines are chutes where the sewage slides down from somewhere in the city far above you: still easily stepped over as the party continues down the tunnels. The space does not prevent Morik from using Wild Shape to turn into any of the animals in his repertoire, including the bear. It may be gross, but having two paws in three feet of slime is not going to slow down a bear.

Similarly, the members of the party can rearrange themselves if they wish.

OOC:
The party is alert enough to not be surprised by the appearance of these hidden creatures.

Elysia stops to examine the traces and doesn't notice the movement near her in the channel. Eozindra sees the movement and cries out, alerting Elysia, Adran, and Morik to the presence of something in the flow. Meanwhile, Ishi and Elowin hear her, but their attention is on what they see: a wriggling mass scurrying out of the drain chute in the ceiling above Ishi, dropping towards the barbarian. It is a swarm of centipedes that is crawling over Ishi. At the same time, Morik (who was already looking back because of Eozindra's warning) is the first to notice a second wriggling mass dropping from the channel. Jeffery perks up; will these be good to eat? No...they're too big.
[ +- ] Ravenous, round one
There are three potential antagonists: one swarm crawling on Ishi, one back down the tunnel behind Elysia, and something in the sewage.

What do each of you do for round one?
OOC:
@runekyndig, you've prepared a casting of faerie fire for Elowin. Where do you want the cube to appear? Which creature(s) do you want to be in the area of effect?

@MaJunior, I realized I hadn't included your Steel Defender in the first map, so here I put him in front of you.

16 - Swarm1

Finding the group surrounded, Eozindra takes note of the two visible threats and the one yet-to-be-seen. Like a nervous fidget, she brings her offhand bolt to her mouth. Instead of chewing a fingernail, she quickly slips the sharp edge against her lower lip to draw the bead of blood required as sacrifice for hopefully handicapping these foul things. She licks the wound and tastes the iron, wincing slightly as she does, and begins dancing the unloaded bolt between her fingers as she pulls the invisible strings of her magic in the air. "Not today," she whispers.
