Sorry if it was not clear, you're not actually looking for large/heavy ship parts like the drive core. You're looking for Elders parts like the ones used for modding gear. It takes 1-2 encumbrance each, 5 total, to carry it back. There will be an In Character post with the patron to explain this, I was waiting for the crew setup to do it together with the hirelings.

It won't be a completely blind search as well, there's tips, terrain limits and other stuff scattered around. Moreover, if you search the correct grid, you don't need to roll for the parts. The dice will be used in all other squares (there are threats and other optional bonuses scattered around for you to find)
We will move to mission briefing with the patron after crew+gear.

There's some less than 80 squares, and maybe hints... Ok..

Now we have the spread out purchases
Now that we understand the timetable more, do we want more than 12 filters @arthur12320, we currently have 3 hours of searching. If so we'll replace the ? With filters and then we'll head in?
Can we return unused boxes @htech. Also... Do we need to rest beforehand? I'd like to head right in but don't know if there will be mechanical repercussions.

It will have if you need to do something strenuous the day after and you also won't be able to recover System Strain. You will be sleepy after 1AM (its 20:30 now)
Edit: Gear now checks ✅️ But please notice that it takes 2 rounds to have the Lazarus patch ready the way you packed them.
Rulebook pg 61 says:
If a character needs to get out
a Stowed item in a hurry, they must use their Main
Action to dig it out of their pack or pockets. (...) Other small items
can be packed together into bundles to simplify their
carriage, though getting at them then takes an additional round of fumbling with the packaging.

I think it’s a good idea to go with the extras, and specially because I think it would make sense they can be returned if not used. For you would make even more sense, giving Song the extra one and grabbing from him when needed

P.S. @arthur12320 Want to cover the 480 creds for the 6 more, I'm good with covering the 960 for the ones from before .
Do you want your Stun Baton Readied, or something else. I think it's good to have a melee option, but you dont have a Stab skill so you may want something more ready? I dont know. Also do you want a Stun Baton or something like a Suit Ripper?
Also, I think we rest and head to search early? (aka sleep for 8 hours and then start searching with our hires @ 06:00?

@PhoenixScientist We can divide it 720/720, I will keep the stun batons, the suit ripper would be a good option, but it is strictly illegal according to the book, so since we are not taking rifles to not have a problem with authorities I don’t think it would be good to take one and be stopped.

It should appear in the Characters section (Far Traders: Status) and also under the "Add new roll" button. Any issues, please let me know, the GM has access to more stuff in their games, so it looks different for me.

Celestial Voyager, orbit of Zyronis

Back to the Celestial Voyager, Mercer and Peter stood before a holoprojector, waiting for the transmission to connect. The projector flickered to life, and the image of Talia, their harried engineer, appeared. Her usually sharp eyes were tired, and her face was smudged with grease, but there was a spark of excitement in her voice as she addressed them.

"Thank you for accepting this mission," Talia began, adjusting her goggles. "As you know, I’ve discovered something extraordinary. It’s a partially-complete schematic for an ancient refinery unit, capable of producing vast amounts of edible compounds."

Mercer, considering the recent events with VIREN, wanted to be sure. "How ancient are we talking here?"

Talia pointed to a holographic projection on her end, showing a complex blueprint. "Elders' tech. We’re talking millennia old. But here’s the thing: the schematic isn’t complete. We need four crucial parts to finish the device. And I’ve found clues about where we can find them."

Peter, younger and always eager for a challenge, interjected. "Where do we start?"

Talia’s projection shifted to a map of the planet, highlighting the underways. "You need to navigate these underways. They’re inter-continental subterranean tunnels filled with hazards and possibly hostile creatures. But these tunnels are also where we’ll find the parts."

She brought up an image of the first part. "The first part is a Quantum Catalyzer Core. It’s a cylindrical device, about the size of a human forearm, with intricate patterns that shimmer and shift. It emits a faint blue glow and is cold to the touch. Areas where it’s found might have unusually lush vegetation or strange, luminescent fungi due to the residual energy it emits."

Peter nodded, absorbing the details. "So, we look for lush vegetation or glowing fungi."

This will be visible for the players in the map, even if you just move nearby, without searching the square where the part is located. The "search" action is necessary just to confirm and extract the part.
"Exactly," Talia said, then switched to the next image. "The second part is a Neutron Flux Regulator. It’s a large, hexagonal prism with various wires and tubes, made of a mix of polished metal and an unknown crystalline substance. It gives off a low hum and slight vibration. Nearby metallic objects might have a slight magnetic pull towards it, and you might see minor electromagnetic interference affecting electronic devices."

Mercer frowned. "That sounds tricky. We’ll need to be careful with our equipment."

This will also be visible for the players. As soon as you enter the same grid, electronic devices will suffer from this interference.
Talia nodded. "Indeed. Now, the third part: the Plasma Infusion Module." She displayed a rectangular device with a sleek, black exterior interspersed with glowing red lines. "One side has a transparent panel through which you can see swirling plasma. The area might feel warmer, and you could see occasional sparks or static discharges nearby."

Talia continued, "The last part is the Nano-Assembler Array. It’s a sleek, metallic panel about the size of a large book, with multiple ports and connectors on one side and a reflective, mirror-like surface on the other. It feels unexpectedly heavy for its size, and the ports and connectors won’t match any known contemporary technology. Scanning it will show incredibly complex internal structures."

Mercer raised an eyebrow. "How do we identify it?"

Talia tapped her display, causing a detailed schematic to appear on their end. "Its smooth, almost frictionless surface is a giveaway. Its also part of an exceptionally advanced 3D printer device. Trust me, you’ll know it when you see it."

Talia’s image flickered as she handed them a set of schematics and told them where they could get a pair of advanced scanners that she bought for them in Zyronis. "These schematics will give you detailed information about each part, and the scanners will confirm when you’ve found the right components. They’re calibrated to detect the unique energy signatures of the parts or other Elders' tech from Zyronis. Unfortunately nobody has a detailed up to date map for the underways, but I can give you the coordinates for one of its entrances. Any questions?"

Timeline-wise, is this right before we planned to head into the underways? If not, I'm sure there's someone interested in maps of the underways, if I can I'd love to sell them a map of the area we explore, assumig they provide the Navcomp, or at least include price of obtaining one in the map payment.
Not really looking for major creds, but Mercer is always looking to make a bit extra.
On the note of making a bit extra, our manager will be instructed to use backup funds, and part of the reinvestment funds (I expect us to have 10-20% of our profit being reinvested) to buy any part of the manufacturing shares that become available.
Just adding the roll here, to keep it all to one post.... Hopefully we get it now, but we'll add the sale to backup funds either way.

Good idea. Roll Connect DC8 and you can find someone interested. Otherwise, you can borrow a Navcomp from the CV and leave the map with the manager to sell later.

PS: Make sure to update the loadout.
