Jabes.plays.RPG says:
Zig decides to help This One's ballista crew.

"Adjust your aim by this much. That's it, baby!"
OOC:
Help action for This One. Hopefully applicable to that last shot.

All PCs should still have 5 THP from when Ziggy used Mantle of Inspiration.
Thx Ziggy. I'm to short to aim properly. Must compensate

The robed elf, curled up on the ground already, takes a massive ballista bolt right to the chest.

This one directs his crew to fire again, but his bolt misses

The mangonel releases, a rock crushing one of the armored warriors beneath its weight.

The two ballistae on the other ship fire, but they are clearly shaken by your last attacks and miss by a wide margin.
Nat 1 and 2

The ships move closer together and begin to slow. The remaining enemies leap across the expanse onto the deck of your ship, ready to fight!

OOC:
Targets have disadvantage on their saves thanks to Ziggy's cittern:
Quote:
You can play the instrument while casting a spell that causes any of its targets to be charmed on a failed saving throw, thereby imposing disadvantage on the save. This effect applies only if the spell has a somatic or a material component.

This One claps his lads on each shoulder and the dragon crystal in him flairs up. Both men exhale, one dripping cold and the other sparking electricity.
A Plasmoid Explorer bords the ship just next to the auto gnome and is touched by his shocking grasp
OOC:
Bonus Action: Twin cast Dragon Breath on the two men
Action: Shocking grasp
[ +- ] 2. Dragon's Breath (C)
@Naatkinson Will you pilot the two commoners with Dragon breath or should I?

Imti retreats from the ballista to put some distance between herself and the nearest pirate, whether plasmoid or astral elf. "Why're you called star elves if you don't have stars?" she asks rhetorically, uncaring about any technical details. She swings her club like an atlatl, launching a glittering bolt of radiance at one of the elf warriors.

"This is a star elf!" she continues, imbuing her limbs with connective lines of light with glowing orbs at her shoulders and elbows. She draws her hand back like using a bow, and sends a starry arrow at the same warrior. "I remember, Ziggy! Over our heads!"
OOC:

The elves were undeterred, despite the fact that they had taken down two of their number. Quaxiver assumed that if they continued to press the attack against them, the plasmoids would back away without the elves to lead them. He abandoned the mangonel to the rest of the crew, leaping into the fray, summoning the spirits of the astral dead to surround him.
OOC:
Attack action with Green Flame Blade. Bonus action casting Spirit Shroud. Looks like 16hp to Warrior 2, 6hp to Warrior 3.

Ziggy's spell goes off, a hypnotizing pattern of swirling lights and color surrounds the invading force. One of the elves and fully two-thirds of the ooze-creatures stop moving. The remaining warriors fight for several seconds before realizing that most of their attack force is incapacitated and throw up their hands in surrender.
[ +- ] Plasmoid
OOC:
Fight over already. That spell was VERY effective
Aug 15, 2024 5:16 am
Imti remains ready in an archer's pose, her limbs ready to launch another star should the invaders make any hostile move. She waits for Captain Sartell to give an order.
Aug 15, 2024 6:13 am
Lads, make a breath up, away from anyone. Just to show them how screwed they are. The two men makes a cone of frost and electricity. Its almost a shame that they didn't get a chance to unleash it on the enemy.
Captain, what are your orders?
Aug 15, 2024 10:57 am
"We now have our own ship!" Quaxiver turned to the plasmoids, both the ones who surrendered, as well as the one's under Ziggy's spell, "It's time to determine where your loyalties lie. Serve as our crew, and you can still fly the Star Moth as you've been doing so. Refuse, and you'll been stranded as a crew without a ship."

He then indicated for help to take captive the remaining astral elf. "We'll want this one for questioning. Why they attacked us, for starters, and more so, why they are destroying worlds!"
Aug 15, 2024 11:08 am
Interesting... Lets question one of the surviving elfs about their role in the planting of the crystal plant
OOC:
He will not be gentle. He will rip the information from their heads if they try to resist with a combination of mind sliver (lower save) and detect thoughs

Elaina Sartell
Captain Sartell steps forward, her features more grim than you've seen them before now, "Disarm them, bind them, and throw them in the brig," she says to the sailors, who hasten to obey.

Plasmoids
The plasmoids have already disarmed themselves and listen to Quaxiver's offer, "That is not a good idea," one of them says, "They astral elves have ways of tracking their ships. They will never allow you to hold it for long."

Elaina Sartell
Captain Sartell listens to their reasoning and nods, "I think they are probably correct," she says to you. "I won't stop you from taking it, but I highly discourage it. We can at least take this opportunity to question them. I have to check on the damage to the ship. Go ahead and start the interrogation without me. I will be back shortly."
OOC:
You have a chance to ask the elves and the plasmoids questions
Aug 15, 2024 8:29 pm
"Sounds good. If we're not taking her, I'll go and check on the 'damage' to the other ship before we abandon it," says Imti, eagerly crossing over to the moth ship for a thorough investigation. She is positive that This One and Quaxiver can handle the prisoners, plus Ziggy has a way with words so there's bound to be useful information.

Should she manage to board the other vessel, she will look around for items of importance.

"Can we do the reverse? Use the ship to track them instead? Look for something that will allow us to do so Imti. It goes both ways. And take the helm, the ship can't fly without it. Finally, we should scuttle it so it can't be used against us in future."
Aug 16, 2024 5:38 am
"Okay!" says Imti as she heads across. Her reply is perhaps a little too quick; maybe she didn't catch all of that.
Aug 16, 2024 8:59 am
This One sits down with one of the elven prisoners.
Hello lad. I have been designed to fight the mindflayers and know their mental abilities. I'm going to ask you some questions about your attack on this ship and on the planet below. Once I'm happy with the answers I am perpaired to let you go.
If you don't answer truthfully and to the best of your abilities, I will take the information from your mind, without regards to your mental health or any lasting damage.

He gives the elf a moment to let this sink in. Then he cast his spell and ask about the attack on their ship and the planet.
OOC:
If the elf resist he will Mind Sliver him until he failes his save or dies
[ +- ] Mind Sliver Twin
[ +- ] 2. Detect Thoughts (C)
As an afterthought he ask the elf if he knows how they track their ships. Is it a device on the ship that can be removed or do they have some connection the the helm. Basically is there a safe way to grab their ship?

Intimidation - (1d20+4)

(15) + 4 = 19

Aug 16, 2024 2:43 pm
Ziggy stands apart from the interrogation. He finds This One's methods distasteful albeit undeniably effective.
Aug 17, 2024 12:19 am
Imti makes her way over to the star moth ship, looking around for anything interesting or of value. She finds a number of weapons, the starjamming helm, and something in the cargo hold that looks like a giant seed the size of a coffin, but it's cracked and appears to be crumbling before her eyes. The cargo hold is also loaded with food and water enough for weeks for the full crew of the ship.
Elaina Sartell
Captain Sartell shakes her head, "Not unless you are an expert on the mechanics of spelljamming and divination magic," she responds to Quaxiver.
Down in the brig, This One and Ziggy work on getting information from the captive elf. He doesn't really try to avoid answering, seeming proud of what they've done, "Our planet's star is dying," he explains, "Has been for centuries. We travel the stars, dropping seeds onto unsuspecting planets. They sprout, absorb the life energy of everything there, and transfer it back to our star to keep it alive and our home planet safe."

His expression turns a bit sadistic, "Unfortunately for the planet, the process can't be reversed once it starts."
Aug 19, 2024 5:47 pm
Imti looks at the chair and wonders aloud, "How am I supposed to take that?" She makes a bare-minimum effort to see if she can tip the chair over, at least. Should she be successful in that, she might deign to drag the thing out onto the main deck, at least after her search of the rest of the ship.

When she discovers the cracked crystal, she hums to herself with curiosity. Imti taps the giant structure with her club to test its apparent fragility, and any shards that fall (or have fallen) are inspected to see if they match the one she got from the surface of Oerth. If the shards do match, Imti tosses one more into her pouch and ignores the rest.

The rest of her time is spent inspecting the quality of the food in the hold, testing them for taste and/or spiciness. She also looks for any hidden caches of alcohol.
