Hi all

New to this forum, but been roleplaying for more than 40 years now, and PBPing elsewhere for a good 20-odd of those. I'll spend a bit of time nosing around before applying for games, if any take my fancy, and consider running a game at some point. My interests are pretty varied, I like old school games, new school stuff, and those that mix the two. Always a fan of Lovecraftian games (I might eventually see if anyone's interested in playing Trail of Cthulhu / Eternal Lies if I stick around), as well as various fantasy and sci-fi games. Not interested in sports games, supers, mecha games I'm afraid, or 5e or PF.

I tend to prefer rules light games, and have a soft spot for Year Zero games, PbtA games (I'm considering a homebrew PbtA rules set for the Arden Vul megadungeon), Shadowdark (I was running a Stonehell campaign elsewhere, and with my meatgroup), and more than a few of Pelgrane's Gumshoe-based games.

Where'd you do PbP before coming here?

I'd rather not give them the advertising. :)

I started out on rpg.net all those years ago, I think, and have been to various fora since then. Plus did some waaaay back on newsgroups when they were a thing back in the 90s.

You might also be interested in looking through some public games as well to get a feel for the site.
If you have any questions about how to use the site, you can put them into our Questions and Help subforum.

To join a game, keep your eyes on the Games Tavern, where GMs advertise their games and look for players.

That sounds perfect, please sign me up! I'm particularly interested in learning how to effectively use the site's resources, codes, etc, so this looks like a great opportunity to learn about the site's mechanics. What do I need to do to sign up, other than let you know I'm interested?

One of our users, Qralloq, has an entire YouTube playlist of tutorials on GamersPlane's useful features & how to use them. I highly recommend reviewing them and reaching out with any questions you might have.

I've found that 'doing' is the best way to really get a handle on the systems & features! Nobody's judgy around here about things and often can point you in the right direction. The GP Discord is also great for that.
