OOC:
If the objects have blindsight then does that mean advantage on attack?
Aug 28, 2024 8:47 pm
OOC:
I think the objects make the attacks, you just tell them to attack and who.
Aug 28, 2024 9:19 pm
OOC:
But with advantage vs those who can’t see?
Aug 28, 2024 10:24 pm
OOC:
I think that is correct. Blind sight means you can effectively see to a certain range even if blind.

What I don't know is about commanding them. If you say "attack BK2" but you can't see BK2, will they know who you are talking about?
Aug 28, 2024 10:32 pm
OOC:
I would think their knowledge of an enemy would be equivalent to the caster. Since the caster can’t see I would say they need to be very specific if a certain enemy is targeted but in lieu of that general orders can be given. For instance keep attacking the same enemy until it dies and the kill the next closest one.

Keep in mind the objects from the spell have an intelligence of 3 so I take that to mean they can only obey very simple commands, like "attack that guy" or "guard this spot" and not "Attack the guy that matches this description"

Travail had enough of getting slashed. With an arcane word, a force shield deflected the bone knight's greatsword strike but now arcane darkness descended over him.

"Come, sire!" he shouted, followed by another string of arcane words. Travail couldn't see the doorway but he knew it was there, and he visualized the staircase in the north-west corner of the first level as their destination.

Once there, Travail formed a claw with one hand to warp magic and manifest a ghostly, skeletal hand which clawed at the skeletal brute he saw!
OOC:
Reaction: Shield.
Action: Dimension Door with the king ending up at C6 and Travail at C7.
No Action: Metamagic Quicken Spell.
Bonus Action: Chill Touch at SB3.

On a hit, the target takes 3d8 necrotic damage, and it can't regain hit points until the start of my next turn. Until then, the hand clings to the target. If the target is undead, it also has disadvantage on attack rolls against me until the end of my next turn.

Rolls

Chill Touch attack, necrotic damage - (1d20+12, 3d8)

1d20+12 : (6) + 12 = 18

3d8 : (266) = 14

@annex I dont think you can use a both a reaction and bonus action at the same time.

His reaction was when the BK hit him earlier. Also, you can technically cast shield on your turn in the 2014 rules. 2024, he couldn't if he had casted dimension door like he planned on the same turn, but in this situation they were on separate turns.

His reaction was to the previous attsck.

Cool! I still have shield in effect from last turn also

Suddenly Bells vantage point was no vantage point at all as the space below was cast into unnatural darkness where even shadows were lost. However, nothing was as black as losing sight of the king. May her monarch reign! Trust would have to be placed on her team that they would do what was necessary.

Rolls

Perception for new location of king - (1d20+3)

(14) + 3 = 17

Skeleton Brute

Skeleton Brute
OOC:
It's a nit pick, and your turn still goes off as you said, but technically you would need to use quicken spell on dimension door, not chill touch. 2024 makes this less complicated, but long story short if you bonus action a cantrip your action must be a cantrip too if also a spell, but switching the order means your action was a cantrip.
The skeleton brutes take their swings. They seem rather mindless, so they go for easy targets. SB3 attacks crow first, to see if he breaks crows concentration. If it misses, or crows keeps concentration, SB2 will be forced to attack SM3. SB1 no longer hear's travail's movements and didn't hear where he walked to and assumes he is no longer there. It steps into Travail's old space to confirm, then decides to go for the sound of clanking metal it hears (Xha).
OOC:
They all miss, but as expected the one forced to attack it's ally not only hits but crits. You all are being protected by some kind of force, not sure what.
@CherokeeWind,@MaJunior,@Basil you are all up. Reminder: Crow must keep using his action on crown of madness or else the spell ends.

Are you using your action on your turn to make a perception check? or do you have an ability that lets you use your reaction to do so?
Aug 29, 2024 2:13 pm
OOC:
No, I am not using my action. I thought it a fair chance that I would see movement across the room but I didn't want to assume so I thought a dice roll would settle the issue.
Aug 29, 2024 2:25 pm
OOC:
The king didn't want to come with Travail? :P
Aug 29, 2024 2:45 pm
I missed the part about the king. I'll fix that.
[ +- ] Battle Information
As for Bells, perception checks take an action. If you don't hear something that gives a person's location away, you have to make assumptions. This should be a moot point as he is up in the other upper section with Travail now, which you can see

Crow maintains concentration allowing his charmed Skeleton brute to attack the Shadow Mastiff before commanding it to run towards the South Eastern stairs.

Crow moves to W8 and Telekinetically shoves (DC18) the Skeleton Brute into Y10. If successful he then continues his movement to V4 otherwise he stays put.

Telekinetic shove is a Bonus Action.

You don't control the monster's movement, only making it use it's action to attack as the first thing it does and against who.

Save below.
