Scene 1: Evening at the Museum

King Triston
"Ah, thank you for arriving. I would like you to meet Kaladan. He is the curator of this museum, and he has graciously allowed us to see everything before it is open to the public."
Kaladan, Dragonborn Curator
Before you stands a black dragonborn. He is wearing very nice clothing, like that of a noble, and holds himself with extreme poise. When he talks, he sounds like something that is very knowledgeable, yet not snobbishly so. "Welcome, fine heroes. I heard of your exploits and was excited to hear the king thought to invite you. Tonight should be a peaceful event let me show you around."
Kaladan shows you around. You recall a pair of stone lion statues out front, expertly carved. At the front is a desk, presumably someone to confirm you have paid for entry when it is opened later and to answer questions, though no such person is here now. Behind the desk are rows of display cabinets, each displaying items that do not appear magical but are nonetheless valuable for their historical importance. To the left and right of the front desk are stairs that lead 10 feet up to a balcony that overlooks the earlier area on both sides. Each of these balconies display more vertical items, such as clothing of important people and dioramas of depicting events of the past. On the balcony to the right are also two big items on display. The first is a dragon's skull and the second appears to be the exoskeleton of a rare giant beetle. Both balconies lead to a stairway in the back that joins on the first floor to the far side of the building, but also have another stairway that appear to lead to a 3rd floor.
"You are welcome to look around and ask any questions you like. I only ask you do not go to the third floor. It is not ready to be viewed by anyone as of yet, and I prefer to show finished work over work in progress."
At some point, please tell me where you would want to stand when things happen. You can say a specific square like F14, or something vague like "in front of the statue on the left balcony". If you are vague, though, I will put you somewhere and the vagueness means you don't care where as long as it matches what you said, so no "one square down please" if you don't say a specific square.
Rising, the tinkle of golden bells rang out pure and true. Her namesake was wrapped around her calves with a fine filament. Much to the horror of Bells more sneaky companions, music always announced the location of the bard. The blame rested upon her father who started the tradition of adding a bell every year on the day of her birth as a celebration of when his life was filled with song. The ol' softie!
Standing back studying the image reflecting in the mirror, Bells nods as she decided on the feathers for her grand entrance. "Encore" is breathed out transforming the studded leather armor the bard wore into a stunning evening gown replete with a several tiered necklace nestled against her bosom. After all what cake is ready to serve without frosting? Perhaps it was all an illusion but the bard intended to shine like she was gold.
xha moves close to the King and addresses him
YOUR Majesty, pardon me for being so close to you. but I believe it is the best way to protect you from threat or harm and you know I will throw my life between you and any enemy.
King Triston
The king chuckles. "I appreciate your dedication. Tonight is an opportunity to relax. We are the only ones here. Enjoy the history."
The party did not have long to wait after they assembled waiting for the king. Bells was taken aback at the lack of formality as the king wasn't even announced as he entered the room. Not following protocol was of course the prerogative of the monarchy but since she was not of that level, the well dressed performer bowed low with a rare grace, "Your majesty, we are only here to serve and your continued gratitude humbles us. Thank you for this opportunity."
As the event progressed into the museum, Bells collected a flute of champagne from the counter to sip as the king introduced Kaldan. As the bubbles tickled her nose, Bells arched a fine eyebrow over the instructions that the party was welcomed everywhere but the third floor. Subtly Bells' eyes found the thief's as she shook her head slowly from side to side knowing that as soon as he heard the third floor was off limits then that was exactly where he would want to be. Hopefully such impulses would be controlled!

Bells is absolutely in her element. Xcha is acting as expected. Crow wandered off. There isn't too much here that interests the shifter, but the weapons in a case caught his eye. Those he understands.
Without meaning to, he catches himself eyeing the locking mechanism and immediately pushes the impulse out of his mind. That isn't why they were in the museum tonight. These valuable things will stay right where they are.
A glass of the same champagne Bells enjoyed levitated over to float beside Travail's head as he looked around the museum.
"Are you a student of history, sire? Apart from consulting oracles, knowing the past is the best way to shape the future."
"Cheating death?" Says Crow with a chuckle "Even Gods die."
Enhaling deeply the bard's clear voice rose filling the space reverberating off the stone surfaces as Bells put on a performance.
**Title: The Ballad of the Blue Dragon**
*(Verse 1)*
In the skies where the storm clouds gather,
Lived a dragon, fierce and bold,
With scales of sapphire, shimmering light,
A tale of glory and woe unfolds.
*(Chorus)*
Oh, mighty blue dragon, ruler of the skies,
You soared through the tempest, defying the cries.
But fate has its whispers, and time will not bend,
In your quest to cheat death, you met your end.
*(Verse 2)*
With a heart full of power, a spirit untamed,
You sought the dark secrets, a gamble unclaimed.
In the caverns of shadows, where lost spirits dwell,
You danced with the echoes of a forbidden spell.
*(Chorus)*
Oh, mighty blue dragon, ruler of the skies,
You soared through the tempest, defying the cries.
But fate has its whispers, and time will not bend,
In your quest to cheat death, you met your end.
*(Bridge)*
But legends are born from ashes and flame,
Though your body lies still, your spirit will reign.
In the hearts of the brave, your memory flies,
A guardian of dreams, beneath starry skies.
*(Verse 3)*
With thunderous roars and lightning’s embrace,
You challenged the reaper, a desperate chase.
Yet the hourglass shattered, your fate was sealed tight,
In a clash of the titans, you fell from the light.
*(Chorus)*
Oh, mighty blue dragon, ruler of the skies,
You soared through the tempest, defying the cries.
But fate has its whispers, and time will not bend,
In your quest to cheat death, you met your end.
By no means had the bard remained static. The first chorus, Bells had circled the massive skull drawing power from its presence twirling around Crow emphasized by the feathers shimmering before making her way to the balcony to serenade those below. Bells ended her performance with her arms stretched wide leaning against the balustrade. Yes, dragons weren't the only ones that wanted to be remembered.

Bone Knight
As Bells finishes her song, you all start to hear a commotion outside. It sounds like some of the guards stationed outside are yelling at someone, and then suddenly silenced. Before any of you can go to investigate, the sounds of doors slamming opened and multiple windows shattering rings as multiple people burst into the museum. On the far north and south are individuals masked in armor that appears to be infused with bones, but with no glowing eyes you suspect they are not undead. Each of these knights seem to be accompanied by a mastiff, but these hounds are black as knight and drooling smoke. On the balconies, 2 figures leap through each side's windows, 4 total, as if they had jumped out of trees. These individuals are clearly skeleton warriors, though their armor has seen better days. They all wield a greataxe that almost looks too big for them to wield, but they seem to hold just fine.
One of the knights by the door yells, "Look who it is. It's the king. Weren't expecting you here, but two birds, one stone, as they say."

Should one of the attackers also find the pretty lights uninteresting, a writhing globular protuberance forced its way into the mortal realm from somewhere other to lash it into terror!
Options, Xcha? Make a break for it outside or stand and fight here? Travail asked the dragonborn warrior mentally.
Spending a sorcery point for Careful Spell: up to 5 creatures (me and all allies, naturally) automatically succeed on the saving throw of a spell you cast.
If any of the (in order of importance) knights or the hounds aren't fascinated, can I choose which one must make a DC 20 CHA saving throw or take the psychic damage below and become frightened of Travail until the start of my next turn? I was hoping not to have to get in melee range but I'll put this Far Realm Shard to good use!

The shard says "you can cause a slimy tentacle to rip through the fabric of reality and strike one creature you can see within 30 feet of you". It doesn't really say "that can you can choose" but also doesn't make it seem random, so I'll say you choose the target, yes.
Only 2 make the save. BK2 and SM1. You are pretty sure on their next turn that they are going to slap people out of the stuper, who can then do the same for others. So essentially most of the enemies on the lower floor will lose their turn, and this will last only 1 round. Enemies of the same name go all at once like players who aren't separated by enemies, so they go in the order that is most convenient just like players can go in the order they like each round if no enemies interrupt.

The skeleton brutes march forward, eyes glowing and heavy looking great axes dragging along the ground scratching the nice floor. the ones on the east actually seem to go for Crow and Bells, while the ones on the west spring towards the stairs. The ones that attack seem to use some kind of technique that doesn't help them land their hit but increase the momentum of the swing for a potentially deadlier cut.

And the theme "Undead"? Really? Cliche! So in addition to bad timing and taste, the "skeleton" had shown little judgement attacking what must appear to be the entertainment over a dragonborn? In most cases a bad call but in this instance the least bonehead thing he could have done. If the bard had not found herself knocked to the ground, Bells would have slipped over the balcony to reach the king to escape to safety but now?
It had been a reflexive reaction to throw her arm up to protect her head as that large blade threatened removal of arguably one of her best features but now blood soaked what use to be a beautiful illusion as the bard laid crumpled on the ground. It had been a hard blow to take for someone that tried not to break a nail during combat. But bless... Crow? It must have been Crow that just pushed away the brute so Bells could pull herself to her feet using the railing as support.
The view between the columns did not soothe the bard as she regained her footing. The king along with her troupe were surrounded, with reinforcments from the far balcony fast approaching to bolster numbers that already favored the enemy. Something was needed to even the odds! With a museum of items to pull from the next song out of her lips did nothing less than breathe life into the relics on display as she cast Animate Objects.
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 120 feet
Components: V S
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute
Classes: Bard, Sorcerer, Wizard
Objects come to life at your command. Choose up to ten nonmagical objects within range that are not being worn or carried. Medium targets count as two objects, Large targets count as four objects, Huge targets count as eight objects. You can't animate any object larger than Huge. Each target animates and becomes a creature under your control until the spell ends or until reduced to 0 hit points.
As a bonus action, you can mentally command any creature you made with this spell if the creature is within 500 feet of you (if you control multiple creatures, you can command any or all of them at the same time, issuing the same command to each one). You decide what action the creature will take and where it will move during its next turn, or you can issue a general command, such as to guard a particular chamber or corridor. If you issue no commands, the creature only defends itself against hostile creatures. Once given an order, the creature continues to follow it until its task is complete.

An animated object is a construct with AC, hit points, attacks, Strength, and Dexterity determine by its size. Its Constitution is 10 and its Intelligence and Wisdom are 3, and its Charisma is 1. Its speed is 30 feet, if the objects lack legs or other appendages it can use for locomotion, it instead has a flying speed of 30 feet and can hover. If the object is securely attached to a surface or larger object, such as a chain bolted to a wall, its speed is 0. It has blindsight with a radius of 30 feet and is blind beyond that distance. When the animated object drops to 0 hit points, it reverts to its original object form, and any remaining damage carries over to its original object form.
If you command an object to attack, it can make a single melee attack against a creature within 5 feet of it. It makes a slam attack with an attack bonus and bludgeoning damage determine by its size. The DM might rule that a specific object inflicts slashing or piercing damage based on its form.
At Higher Levels. If you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, you can animate two additional objects for each slot level above 5th."]

When you join the College of Glamour at 3rd level, you gain the ability to weave a song of fey magic that imbues your allies with vigor and speed.
As a bonus action, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to grant yourself a wondrous appearance. When you do so, choose a number of creatures you can see and who can see you within 60 feet of you, up to a number equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of one). Each of them gains 5 temporary hit points. When a creature gains these temporary hit points, it can immediately use its reaction to move up to its speed, without provoking opportunity attacks.
The number of temporary hit points increases when you reach certain levels in this class, increasing to 8 at 5th level, 11 at 10th level, and 14 at 15th level."]

From my understanding, everyone including the king can add 14 temporary hit points and may immediately move 6 spaces without activating opportunity attacks.

For the record, his rolls were:
12 for 7 dmg
23 for 7 dmg
25 for 10 dmg
Three was a 4th damage roll, but there were only 3 attacks so I think that was a mistake.
He repeated his wisdom save against the frightened condition, but rolled a 4 and is still frightened of SM1
As he was frightened, the attacks should be at disadvantage, but as the shadow mastiffs' AC is 12 only a nat 1 will miss so I will roll 3d20 below any for every 1 the corresponding attack will miss instead.

Bone Knight
Originally BK1/3/4 and SM2/3/4 were affected. BK4 and SM4 took damage, so they are snapped out of it, leaving BK1/3 and SM2/3 still affected.
SM1 will get SM2 free, who will then get BK3 free too, who will use their turn to attack Travail for doing that.
SM4 will take an opportunity attack to move to SM3 and get him free (i'll assume he takes the attack, since he is having computer issues), and SM3 will free BK1, who will attack Travail.
BK2 will attack Xha, and BK4 will attack Hunt.
Few, that was complicated to track, hahaha.

His options were limited: teleport with the king somewhere safer or try to fascinate the bastards again. Travail called up the eldritch energies within him to once more befuddle his foes, spared himself and his allies again, and sent another otherworldly tentacle to lash any who resisted!
Crowd control... GO!
Again casting
Spending a sorcery point for Careful Spell: up to 5 creatures (me and all allies, naturally) automatically succeed on the saving throw of a spell you cast.
If any of the (in order of importance) knights or the hounds aren't fascinated, I'll choose which one must make a DC 20 CHA saving throw or take the psychic damage below and become frightened of Travail until the start of my next turn.

2nd-level enchantment
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 120 feet
Components: V, S
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute
One humanoid of your choice that you can see within range must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become charmed by you for the duration. While the target is charmed in this way, a twisted crown of jagged iron appears on its head, and a madness glows in its eyes.
The charmed target must use its action before moving on each of its turns to make a melee attack against a creature other than itself that you mentally choose. The target can act normally on its turn if you choose no creature or if none are within its reach.
On your subsequent turns, you must use your action to maintain control over the target, or the spell ends. Also, the target can make a Wisdom saving throw at the end of each of its turns. On a success, the spell ends.
Spell Lists. Bard, Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard
The bone knight had spoken true stating Travail was a crucial member of their party thus Bells needed to stop the arc of the weapon currently meant to crush past Travail's defenses causing his concentration to break. The power released from the spell, Silvery Barbs, Bells would then be redirected back to the warlock for him to use as he best saw fit.
Casting Time: 1 reaction, which you take when a creature you can see within 60 feet of yourself succeeds on an attack roll, an ability check, or a saving throw
Range: 60 feet
Components: V
Duration: Instantaneous
You magically distract the triggering creature and turn its momentary uncertainty into encouragement for another creature. The triggering creature must reroll the d20 and use the lower roll.
You can then choose a different creature you can see within range (you can choose yourself). The chosen creature has advantage on the next attack roll, ability check, or saving throw it makes within 1 minute. A creature can be empowered by only one use of this spell at a time.
"]
I actually rolled the rerolls already and hid it, but didn't want to just assume you would cast it. The rerolls is a 23 so it still hits but no crit. As such, the damage was 31, not 56, for a DC or 15, which Travail passed. Hypnotic pattern is still active. @annex please update accordingly. I will reflect this in the next battle info post.
The clatter did not cover the sounds below that resumed as another round of attacks started. The larger whirlwind of destruction moved past the mastiff that now looked like a big puppy as it gazed upward with its tongue hanging out to the side to attack the newly arrived Skeleton brute (SB1). The smaller number of items attacked the limping Skeleton brute (SB4) behind them that had landed hard on that ankle.
Bells still had a small trick up her sleeve and she was saving it for that brute who had dared to cause her to bleed. The monster had spoiled her look and THAT was unforgivable! But in the moment of casting, the bard adjusted the spell causing it to land several feet away on the Bone knight (BK2). Being a part of a team meant your partners came first and Travail needed every bit of help he could get.

Also, Bells went to the trouble to shame and arm the museum curator, is he not picking up the rapier and helping Crow?
I don't think you can choose to sneak attack on attack 2. If this was a live game, you would have had to decide when attack 1 hit if you would sneak attack before rolling attack 2, and you wouldn't know have known to hold sneak attack because 2 would have crit. I am not trying to sound mean, but I think the above logic is fair as to sneak attack would have been on attack 1 since 21 hits and that one was not a crit. If attack 1 had missed or was the crit, I would have had nothing to say. As such, I will ignore the last 4 dice rolled on that damage roll, as everything else is right so I'll go in order of rolled. As such, that damage roll is 28 not 43. still a lot, though.
It's the entire reason most rogues use two-weapon fighting (the mechanic, not the style), because they're increasing the chance to hit or crit.
By RAW, you can choose to NOT apply Sneak Attack yet when you land a hit, in hopes that maybe whichever other attack you'll make later in the turn will be a crit, but you cannot take it back if you never hit again. So that said if you want me to roll individually from here on out I will.
You really roll attacks one at a time around a table? Combat is the slowest part of the game. At my table, if you aren't rolling your attacks and getting everything handled while the person before you goes you're wrong.
But I see option 1 as the only real option that you listed.

Crow twin casts crown on madness on BK3 and SB2. BK3 succeeds but SB2 fails and is told to attack SM3.
Bells casts vicious mockery on BK2 and commands the larger group of animated museum objects to attack SB1 while the smaller attacks SB4. BK2 fails its wisdom save and takes 8 psychic damage. SB 1 takes 29 damage from 4 of the 6 attacks and SB4 takes 24 damage from all 4 attacks. SB4 is destroyed.

BK2 casts hellish rebuke when Xha hits him.
SM4 shakes SM3, who then shakes BK1, who shakes BK3. BK3 elects not to shake the hounds, as they have been less than useful aside from shaking people awake. BK3 casts a bonus action spell and then swings twice at Travail with their greatsword. BK2, frightened, elects to cast Darkness after BK3 attacks.
Xha takes 11 fire damage.
Reminder: Unless you can see through magical darkness, you are blinded while in the area. You cannot see creatures inside nore can they see you. Attack are made with both advantage and disadvantage, so just a normal roll, and unless you take the hide action people can still hear where you are as you can them.

I try to go RAW as much as I can here. For example, I think what is happening with the darkness is odd, that you shouldn't have advantage attacking an enemy that can't see you if you also can't see them but Raw that is how it is designed to work
What I don't know is about commanding them. If you say "attack BK2" but you can't see BK2, will they know who you are talking about?
"Come, sire!" he shouted, followed by another string of arcane words. Travail couldn't see the doorway but he knew it was there, and he visualized the staircase in the north-west corner of the first level as their destination.
Once there, Travail formed a claw with one hand to warp magic and manifest a ghostly, skeletal hand which clawed at the skeletal brute he saw!

Also, in the future, it seems harsh but any skill check is an action unless something says otherwise, so casting minor illusion and intimidating are both actions. I do try to make skills somewhat useful in combat, if players are creative, but dropping a weapon is a big deal compared to being shaken and nervous. There is also the chance that a zealous enemy may not feel intimidated if they are willing to die and thus being eaten by a dragon skull is perfectly acceptable to them.

In the darkness, you all hear, "Alright, to me!" You hear the sound of some kind of magic humming in the air and the voice seems to say something that resembles more a command word than a spell's verbal component. Suddenly, the skeleton brute on the eastern balcony starts to blacken and turn to dust that seems to blow away as if there were wind and disappears. Then, the darkness ends and none of the enemies, alive or dead, that were in there before remain. Not a scrap of armor or even a weapon.
King Triston
The king collects himself and looks around. "I have no clue what this was about, but you seem to have driven them off. Good work. I am in your debt yet again so soon. Is anyone hurt?"
Kaladan, Dragonborn Curator
Kaladan checks his body for harm and sighs in relief. "I am unharmed. Thank the gods. Now, if you would so kindly return my historical items before they are damaged, I would be even more grateful. Do not worry, I hold no animosity, but my heart could barely take seeing them slam into people."
Turning to the curator "Besides these pieces of history, what could possibly interest a powerful group like we just saw to strike and then leave as quickly as they came?"
"Disagree. I think their man was being straight. They were here for something, grabbed it, left." Hunt huffs a bit, looking this way and that before facing the curator.
"What's missing? Find it."
Kaladan, Dragonborn Curator
Kaladan ponders for a minute, and then gets a very sullen look as he murmurs, "It can't be..." he then takes the stairs to the upper floor from the balcony, the one he asked you all to refrain from. A wail can be heard echo down the stairs. If any of you run upstairs, you see Kaladan on his knees and a variety of glass cabinets with gemstones in them, but the one in the middle is shattered and the stand that would be holding something empty.
"Let it not be said that they didn't know how to make an exit." Hanging her head momentarily the bard whispers to her self, "I should have anticipated it!" But self-reproach could come later as other pressing matters needed her attention.
Glancing up at Kaladan as Bells retrieves her rapier from the veined marble floor. The bard mask her inner thoughts that the curator was more kobold than dragonborn with a reassuring smile, "I'm pleased you are whole as I trust all of the objects put into service to protect the king. I have deposited the lot on the the display case below for your inspection." Eyes flickering over to Crow as he stated his fear of a missing item before encouraging the curator toward the steps, "Master Kaladan, you best take a quick inventory of the area that was cast in darkness because I think something is missing and we need to know what."
"Crow, I think it is going to be a while before you get a hot meal but I will serve you up a song! It looks like Travail could use it too!"
Beginning at 2nd level, you can use soothing music or oration to help revitalize your wounded allies during a short rest. If you or any friendly creatures who can hear your performance regain hit points at the end of the short rest by spending one or more Hit Dice, each of those creatures regains an extra 1d6 hit points.
The extra Hit Points increase when you reach certain levels in this class: to 1d8 at 9th level, to 1d10 at 13th level, and to 1d12 at 17th level."
"Are you hurt?! What’s wrong?"
Kaladan, Dragonborn Curator
Kaladan says, without turning his head and knees to the ground stunned, "The prize item of the collection, the midnight pearl, is gone. The glass... it is shattered. Someone... someone must have come during the fight.... and took it." Crow notices that this one display is the only display that was damaged and there appears to be no broken windows like downstairs.
King Triston
The king nods at Xcha and waves him to relax. "Thank you for drawing their attention to me. After they failed to harm me before, they seemed to focus on you all. Perhaps that was them acknowledging the danger you imposed on them over simply attacking me." Xcha is not sure if the king didn't notice, or if he is being nice and not bringing it up.

"To be honest, I feel like we failed here. The gods be praised the king is whole but five of the kingdom's heros had a valuable item stolen right in front of them with everyone getting away. How embarrassing! So does anyone know why this pearl is specifically valuable?"
Striding over to the window opening with shards of glass still hanging precariously, Bells looks out searching for any rope the intruders may have used to swing into the room. "We know they used magic to escape but that's not how they arrived. Those brutes busted through the windows perhaps the roof holds clues if they first assembled there.

Kaladan, Dragonborn Curator
Bells looks out the window and does see ropes dangling from the roof where there are broken windows. How they managed this is unknown.
Kaladan looks at the party, still in shock, "I don't know anything of the black pearl beyond what is commonly known. It is a very rare gemstone, despite being called a pearl. It is rumored that it grows only near where the veil between the shadowfell and material plan is thinnest, but many people believe that is made up to explain how its black color is so dark it looks impossibly so. Valna, your elven diviner friend, told me to give it to her instead of displaying it, but I denied her request. I thought only she and I knew it was here, so when it became public knowledge tomorrow I would have much more security than I did tonight. Some diviner must have found out I had it."
Kaladan mentioned Valna. She is a high elf wizard who helped you all in your travels. When you would not know what to do, she would charge a free to use divination magic to help you go in the right direction. All of you are on at least friendly terms with her.
Hunt turns away, muttering. "Need to get your nose out of all the books and live in the real world some."
"Now, now the evening has tempers running high. It is well known what a scholary individual you are, Master Kaldan but no one can be an expert in every field. Some items have multiple layers of value....magic likes to hold its own secrets close so how could you expected to properly assess the risk? Mmm, Wizard Valna....I don't suppose she told you the why of her interest? No matter, it is a place to start as we are on familiar terms with her."
I would still like to do three things with haste being a priority 1) make sure the king has guards before we leave 2) cast aid 3) check the roof quickly to see if something was left behind. I got the feeling that was a dead end but I would hate to miss a valuable clue due to a wrong assumption
King Triston
"Thank you everyone for your hard work. I will make for the castle with most haste. I will admit the theft has me worried. If this foe had only need for wealth, they would have stolen much more. As they stole one thing and one thing only, that either means it is so valuable it is worth being the only thing they steal, or they have a purpose for it. Being as they appear to be a group of necromancers, or necromancers adjacent, are are willing to attack people with the undead they make, i fear ignoring this will have dire consequences. If you all would, please find the black pearl." The king then waits for whoever offers to escort him to the castle and makes for the castle at a good pace. Not far away is a carriage he came in. It appears it was spared any harm, and will use it to head back if no one insists on an alternative.
When you go to the roof, you find the ropes dangling at the windows attached to segments of the roof to allow for the swing that they performed earlier. As for how they got on the roof, those of you who are magically inclined feel the reverberations of magic in the air, as if it was used here recently, but the reverberations are too faint to tell what they were from this feeling alone. There does not appear to be any sign of manual climbing onto the roof.
King Triston
His shifted state lasts for 1 minute, so I assume the one from combat ended. He will shift again to investigate the roof. (Let me know if the investigation happens in the first minute and I don't need to shift again, so I can save the use.)

What kind of cost would you think is appropriate? Here are some suggestions, but you can propose one that is similar to these.
- Unbeknownst to you, the thing you find is something one of them was coming back for. They see you found it first and retreat, but now they know you know who they are and are coming.
- You find something, but it is cursed. A minor curse is given to you for touching it without being a member of their group.
- You find something, but only if you are willing to spend a lot longer than originally planned searching. As such, more of the enemy's plan will be finished when you arrive.
The only hint at a "baseline or floor" is this line in passive checks as a whole.
I feel that it was a bit harsh to both have the assailant to know we found the talisman AND we don't know they know we are coming. I do, however, think it reasonable that he knows he lost it and that it had to be at the museum. So does admit his folly because it might not have been found and his leaders aren't the most understanding of guys? We don't know but someone is definitely more vigilant.
- Crow will cast phantom stead as a ritual 3 times, once for himself, once for the king, once for Xcha. I don't know if Travail was intending to also come along, which would be 40 minutes to get that many horses up.
- Bells and Hunt went to the roof together and from the looks of it the attackers were pretty efficient and didn't drop anything. This means either they got lucky that nothing dropped or snagged or they are experienced in doing this kind of thing and are professionals.
I don't know if the party plans to meet up at the tower of Valna the elven diviner or if they are going to meet somewhere else and go together, but eventually that is the agreed to be the next step.
If anything above is incorrect, please varify before I jump ahead to meeting Valna.

"My dears, please before the night finds us embroidered in any more chaos, let me give you a boon." Warm notes of Aid circled the bard and her companions giving literal strength to both body and soul. For some the music seemed to extend a bit longer than others but none were left untouched by the sweet melody.
Bells found herself on the roof after bidding the king farewell and coordinating with her companions on their plans for to reunite. The wind caught her hair as it tossed the loose auburn tresses around. If the bard had thought the evening would be full of skeletons then she would have put her hair up but now it was in the way. Perhaps her search of the roof was affected but the bard wasn't the only eyes and Hunt was the best. Unfortunately the skeletons just didn't leave any clues behind.
Valna, Elf Diviner
At some point, you all reconvene at the tower of Valna, the elven diviner you have worked with in the past. When she hears you knock on the door, she is as poised as you remember. She has a cup in her hand, and she moves like her body has no weight. "Ah, I see your marry band has returned to me. I don't suppose you are here to share a cup of tea, not with that serious look on your faces."
Valna, Elf Diviner
"You need information, as always. What do you need this time? A long lost tomb? The location of a dragon? What is known about a long lost god?"
But what was this development? Travail seemed overly familiar with the attractive diviner. Ohhhh, was it Valna now? Funny but Bells didn't recall the woman telling her to call her Valna. Elven protocol being what it was relations had always had a formal edge but fine...if Travail had formed a more intimate relationship then the bard would sit back while he questioned the wizard.

"Midnight pearl... Don't tell me the fool didn't take my advice. I had hoped he would reconsider when I had left, as he is prideful like that but sometimes secretly goes with correction. I should be able to locate it, as I was able to see it when the dragonborn and I talked." She turns to the dragonborn currently in front of her. "Tell me, did the enemy steal anything else than the midnight pearl? If no, the king is not likely in immediate danger, but depending on what they plan we may all be in danger soon." She beckons everyone inside. After you all enter her study, she continues. "I actually found something this morning that troubled me, but had planned to see Kalanan in the morning. It appears the pearl is not magical by itself, but it is partially made of shadow stuff from the shadowfell. As such, if someone tried to use magic that connected the material plane and the shadowfell, the connection would be much stronger than if it was performed using anything else. I was going to insist that he give the pearl to me so that I might keep it safe in a demiplane, but perhaps I should have gone this afternoon. I appear to be too late now. Let me divine its location."
After about 10 minutes, she returns with a map. "It appears it is here, about 4 miles outside of the city. It is a cemetery that has not been used for years as it is so far out of the city lines. If you take a carriage you can rest on the way there."
Crow looks around at the assembled heroes and gives little pep talk. If you got a familiar they might want to listen in as well!
"Friends, the foolishness of our enemies know no bounds and we are tested yet again. The enemy has stolen the Midnight Pearl and dared to insult our king and crown. They think they can hide in the shadows? NAY! They underestimate our resolve! We’ve fought countless battles side by side, and our bond is forged in the fires of war. Together, we will reclaim the pearl, restore honor to the crown, and show the enemy the true meaning of fear. For the king, for the crown, and for our unbreakable brotherhood, onward to victory!"
You can spend 10 minutes inspiring your companions, shoring up their resolve to fight. When you do so, choose up to six friendly creatures (which can include yourself) within 30 feet of you who can see or hear you and who can understand you. Each creature can gain temporary hit points equal to your level + your Charisma modifier. A creature can't gain temporary hit points from this feat again until it has finished a short or long rest.
Crow's stance stated he was in control while the timbre of his voice spoke of confidence evoking a rawness that just plain worked to inspire. Giving credit where credit was due, Bells bows her head in a salute, "Nicely done."
Does anyone do anything either in the card or upon entering the graveyard? I assume Bells uses song of rest to give a little extra go those that spend at least 1 hit die.
