Bells animated objects and how many are there
Aug 29, 2024 3:18 pm
OOC:
If a person has their attention focus on activity below then they may not notice the spot someone is teleported especially when they didn't know to look but the human eye is good at picking up movement. I simply was trying to be fair if Bells had noticed. Since you say it is a moot point then I will simply act as if she knows.
Aug 29, 2024 3:30 pm
Despite the bard's own inability to see the activity taking place on the floor below, Bells knew the objects she had animated did not suffer such a deficit but would be reliant on her command. Thus, simple was best. The order to the larger group of items, "Continue to attack same target." (SB1) The smaller group that had dealt a death blow on its last victim was ordered to return to the original subject (BK2).

OOC:
I noticed the map still had Hunt at T13?
His last action he had moved to R15 and attacked BK2. I guess I'll treat it like Hunt didn't move?
Growling quietly at the darkness, Hunt nevertheless looks for something new to attack.
OOC:
Moving to R15 and attacking BK2 this turn I guess.

Tearing her gaze from the inky blackness below, the bard dramatically twirls to confront the Skeleton brute behind her. With eyes glowing as if powered by an inner fire, "YOU!" punctuated with enough force that it almost constituted a physical blow. "Drop your weapon! You heard the curator. He doesn't like me using his displays to kill you!" Casting Minor Illusion, Bells has smoke curl in a whisper from the nostrils of the dragon head as if it's ancient fire was still burning within.

Bells looks at the skeleton brute and sees a lack of soul and a lack of will. it can probably feel fear if magically compelled, but any verbal command not from its master may as well be spoken by a mute person.
OOC:
If that was against one of the knights, perhaps I would give them disadvantage on their attacks as if they were frightened for 1 round, as to not invalidate spells that cost a resource like cause fear, but the skeleton bute is unphased as it is too single minded and thus only obeys its master, which you are not.
Also, in the future, it seems harsh but any skill check is an action unless something says otherwise, so casting minor illusion and intimidating are both actions. I do try to make skills somewhat useful in combat, if players are creative, but dropping a weapon is a big deal compared to being shaken and nervous. There is also the chance that a zealous enemy may not feel intimidated if they are willing to die and thus being eaten by a dragon skull is perfectly acceptable to them.

You killed the guy you were fighting last turn, so you could have moved but could not have attacked BK2 last turn as it was your attack last turn that killed BK4. Please be patient with me as this is a lot to track and it is possible I missed it. When running in person i use fantasy grounds that automates things for me so it can be easy to miss.

Crows manages to push the brute away and give another mental order to the skeleton brute.

Bells kills another skeleton bute while making smoke appear from the dragon skull's nostrils.

Hunt gets some hits in on the nearly dead bone knight.

Over all of this, you hear one of the bone knights yell, "That should be enough! We got what we came for!"
OOC:
@forkbeard you are up. reminder you are still frightened, though because of the darkness you attacks are not at disadvantage. roll normally and give me a new wisdom save DC 11 at the end.

Xcha makes two good swings, each connecting with hard armor, and then hears a thud as if someone fell over. In the dark, he makes a third swing that seems to no go for anyone.

In the darkness, you all hear, "Alright, to me!" You hear the sound of some kind of magic humming in the air and the voice seems to say something that resembles more a command word than a spell's verbal component. Suddenly, the skeleton brute on the eastern balcony starts to blacken and turn to dust that seems to blow away as if there were wind and disappears. Then, the darkness ends and none of the enemies, alive or dead, that were in there before remain. Not a scrap of armor or even a weapon.

King Triston

The king collects himself and looks around. "I have no clue what this was about, but you seem to have driven them off. Good work. I am in your debt yet again so soon. Is anyone hurt?"

Kaladan, Dragonborn Curator

Kaladan checks his body for harm and sighs in relief. "I am unharmed. Thank the gods. Now, if you would so kindly return my historical items before they are damaged, I would be even more grateful. Do not worry, I hold no animosity, but my heart could barely take seeing them slam into people."
Aug 30, 2024 6:30 pm
"Nothing a few bandages and a hot meal won’t fix" Says Crow, "Your highness I do believe you were being used as a distraction. They were here for something else."

Turning to the curator "Besides these pieces of history, what could possibly interest a powerful group like we just saw to strike and then leave as quickly as they came?"
Aug 30, 2024 6:43 pm
"Quite hurt," Travail replied after coughing up a spattering of blood. "Regicide as distraction? Still, we'd best get you to safety, sire. They were powerful but they had the stink of foot soldiers. Far worse may teleport in to replace those who teleported out."

Hunt looks around, sniffing the air to make sure they're really gone.

"Disagree. I think their man was being straight. They were here for something, grabbed it, left." Hunt huffs a bit, looking this way and that before facing the curator.

"What's missing? Find it."

Kaladan, Dragonborn Curator

Kaladan ponders for a minute, and then gets a very sullen look as he murmurs, "It can't be..." he then takes the stairs to the upper floor from the balcony, the one he asked you all to refrain from. A wail can be heard echo down the stairs. If any of you run upstairs, you see Kaladan on his knees and a variety of glass cabinets with gemstones in them, but the one in the middle is shattered and the stand that would be holding something empty.

As the brute skeleton turned to ash only to be carried away by the wind, the bard reached out an arm with fingers fully extended as if by force of will her hand could reach the enemies essence snatching it from the air to hold blocking his escape. "Nooooo!" Bells growled in frustration before turning to slam her palms on the railing as her eyes confirmed that every enemy below had also made an escape ...even the dead.

"Let it not be said that they didn't know how to make an exit." Hanging her head momentarily the bard whispers to her self, "I should have anticipated it!" But self-reproach could come later as other pressing matters needed her attention.

Glancing up at Kaladan as Bells retrieves her rapier from the veined marble floor. The bard mask her inner thoughts that the curator was more kobold than dragonborn with a reassuring smile, "I'm pleased you are whole as I trust all of the objects put into service to protect the king. I have deposited the lot on the the display case below for your inspection." Eyes flickering over to Crow as he stated his fear of a missing item before encouraging the curator toward the steps, "Master Kaladan, you best take a quick inventory of the area that was cast in darkness because I think something is missing and we need to know what."

"Crow, I think it is going to be a while before you get a hot meal but I will serve you up a song! It looks like Travail could use it too!"

Crow quickly heads up the stairs the beginning of a spell already on his lips…pausing and seeing no enemies he looks around frantically

"Are you hurt?! What’s wrong?"

Xha moves to the side of the king and bows. "Your majesty" He hopes no one notices he was afraid of a dog even if it was really big with huge jaws and pointy teeth.
