Earlier in round ten...
forkbeard says:
I am your DOOM! Ishi shouts and attacks #3.

BONUS - RAGE
OOC:
Rather than try to reposition all the robbers back to the beginning of the round with you moving to attack Lord Mayor's Man 2 - the only one in view when you stepped out of the blackness, I'm treating this as Ishi having stopped and preparing an attack. This was your prepared attack that was triggered by when the Lord Mayor's Men stepped in range of your axe.
Lord Mayor's Man Six has stepped close enough for Ishi to unleash his anger. "I AM YOUR DOOM!" Ishi yells, his axe lashing out. Lord Mayor's Man Six flinches back, just barely dodging the blow. "Eek!" the robber squeals, then coughs to cover the sound, acting as if he wasn't frightened, adding gruffly. "Looks like this one wants to tussle!"

Round ten, continued
Morik freezes in the empty void. Morik takes 9 cold damage. Eschewing the voices he hears close by, Morik plunges through the freezing darkness toward where he saw the Lord Mayor himself. He comes up against Adran shivering in the darkness, and he can smell Eozindra in front of him, too. He manages to avoid the grasping tentacles in the darkness.

Dammit Ishi! Elowin can hear her ward getting into battle. He was in the southern part of the room when she saw him last. She does her best to remember the layout of the room and how to run to him. She stows her bow and ready her shield.
OOC:
Next round she will dash to his position

Eozindra mutters a phrase in the Celestial tongue, sounding somewhere between a prayer and an expletive. Hoping against hope that she is able to find a miracle in the warmth of Lunea’s embrace as shared by her newfound friend Elowin, the bard flourishes her empty hands one last time. Aiming to disguise her spellcasting under dramatic gestures and foreign language, she begs the Mayor for one last chance at diplomacy.

"Please, sir! Let us speak calmly. I know we can resolve this peaceably." She curtseys low, not quite dropping to a knee entirely but perhaps enough to appease the Lord Mayor and calm his agitation. "I beg you, release us from this darkness and let us discuss as the gentlefolk I know we both are."
OOC:
Trying to sneaky cast Charm Person. I know it probably won’t work but it’s my version of a Hail Mary at this point. DC13 WIS

Also, I know I had declared intent to cast Bane earlier. Asking because I’ve been in games that rule differently: was the spell slot consumed for the held action or do you homebrew over that mechanic and only use the slot once spell is released? I’m fine either way, I just need to know if I should mark it off my sheet.
[ +- ] Charm Person

Morik nuzzled the person in front of him, as if to say mooove, shove the idiot if you have tooooo.
OOC:
I think Morik should’ve had 9 Temp HP instead of 5? That should take care of the 9 dmg he just took, unless I missed him taking 4 dmg somewhere.

Round ten, continued

Lord Mayor's Man Two whirls around, his jaw agape at the sight of Ishi behind him. He's never seen Ishi before, but he was expecting that the intruders were where he'd left them: back in the Library. "Where did YOU come from?" he wonders, as he draws his bow back to his cheek and releases the arrow. Then he pulls, nocks, draws, and releases again. The first arrow hits, the second misses. Ishi takes 2 damage (reduced from 4 by Rage).
Lord Mayor's Men Four and Seven, furthest away from this room, have to dash to get back into view. The begin to nock arrows, but they're out of actions for this turn.
Her lungs freezing, Elysia takes 7 cold damage. In the dark, she hears more and more voices of the enemy. Not particularly wanting to rush toward the spellcaster, she pushes through the void (using her Cunning Action to Dash), emerging from the darkness at Ishi's side. Immediately assessing the situation, she lunges with her rapier at Lord Mayor's Man Six. He grunts as her blade digs into him; Lord Mayor's Man Six takes 11 damage.

You had prepared to cast the spell, but then you did not cast the spell. No spell slot was expended. To me, "ready" is not the same as "go."

Round ten, close to the end

Face to face with the fallen noble, Eozindra begins to exhort, "Please, sir! Let us speak calmly. I know we can resolve this peaceably..." but the Lord Mayor interjects, his own dialogue continuing:
"We told her to kneel, didn't we, Dweller?"
"We did indeed."
"If she won't kneel, then she must FALL!"

The Lord Mayor puts forth his hand and a gust of toxic fumes jets forth.
OOC:
@redamancy - make a DC13 CON save for Eozindra as the poison washes over her. I'll resolve the effect of the Charm Person spell right after this on your turn, but I have to see whether Zin is still up to cast it first. And, to the previous point: if she takes enough damage to fall unconscious, she won't cast Charm Person on her turn and won't have expended the spell slot.

OOC:
You're right, but the posting is also correct. I think you were looking at the post from the end of round nine, when Morik still had the 5 temp HP. The post for round ten correctly shows that Morik currently has no temp HP, because he got 9 from Eozindra on her turn and then took 9 damage from the cold on his turn.
There's a lot of jumping around! I will try to do better at posting a running tally of HP in each post, as well as with the master post for each round.

The poison sprays in Eozindra's face. Eozindra takes 7 poison damage. She continues her plea, "I beg you, release us from this darkness and let us discuss as the gentlefolk I know we both are," casting Charm Person on the Lord Mayor as she does so. He resists the pull of the magic, saying "But the darkness...the darkness is so beautiful."

At the beginning of their turns, Adran and Mara try to withstand the chill of the depths of space.
Adran takes 8 cold damage.
Mara takes 5 cold damage.
OOC:
Adran and Mara take their turns now.

Ishi can also start round eleven now.

Having felt their ursine companion nuzzle up behind him, Adran will reach back in the darkness. "Morik, follow me!" With his shield up, the elf pushes past Zin and attempts to bowl through the Lord Mayor.
OOC:
You can move through a companion's square as difficult terrain, so Adran will attempt to shove the Mayor. Hopefully Morik will provide the help action. (Bears are big, if he pushes against Adran, who pushes against the Lord Mayor, then hopefully the extra weight can shove the man back.)

Rolling with advantage under the assumption Morik helps.

Also, bonus action to keep Mara coming closer.

EDIT: Oh GP dice roller... I hate you. I mean, it's contested, the Lord Mayor could roll a 3, but really...

Morik snorts and as the elf pushed, the bear roared and leant his full weight into the shove attempt.
OOC:
Will help Adran shove. Does Morik get a strength roll as well?
Oct 16, 2024 5:49 am
The Lord Mayor attempts to resist the bear-backed shove. Adran and Eozindra are awkward in the narrow hallway, and the Lord Mayor shoves Adran back as hard as Adran pushes him. Unable to get past the enemy and unable to stay in Eozindra's personal space, Adran has to step back into the darkness.
OOC:
Adran, please roll a DEX save to avoid the acid tentacles.

Rolls

Athletics DC5 - (1d20)

OOC:
No, not as part of Adran's attempt. What can happen is that you use you reaction to Help (unconventional, I know), giving Adran the ADV he rolled. He failed, and has to step back into the magic field. But on Morik's turn, he can shove, too, presumably to better effect.

"My approach didn’t work, Adran. Let’s try this the other way?" Eyes watering from the onslaught of cold, darkness, and poison, Eozindra calls to her nearer companions. With the confusion as the group tries to push further into the passage, the bard presses against the wall then realizes that there just isn’t enough space for them all. She drops to the floor and frantically crawls around the legs of their assailant. "Morik! Try now!"
OOC:
Help action. Hoping I can be the footstool the mayor is trip-shoved over, lol
Bonus action: inspire Morik

OOC:
OK, I allowed it once so I'm committed now (I'll update the rules thread). Eozindra will use her reaction to Help Morik on his round eleven turn. But does Eozindra have Bardic Inspiration to give still? She could also do that as a bonus action on her round ten turn, if you wish.
Oct 16, 2024 2:02 pm
Round ten, end.

Rebuffed by the unexpectedly burly resistance of the Lord Mayor, Adran ends up back in the darkness, but he blindly avoids being grasped by the unseen acidic tentacles in the void between the stars. Mara scuttles forward, and ends its turn once again by Adran's side. The tentacles grab it, however, and Mara takes 9 acid damage.
