Adran, realizing that his companions are in worse shape (at least physically) than he is, will find distraction in purpose. He will haul the bodies of the Lord Mayor and his men out of the room they were in, scavenging anything of value from their corpses before throwing them in the pool of water by where they had entered.
Once general clean up is finished, the elf will begin securing their room... scavenging bedding from the chamber the men stayed in and dragging extra wood into the Lord Mayor's room before shutting and locking (or otherwise barricading) the door. After starting a fire for warmth, he then works on clearing benches to make room for proper bedding so that everyone can rest as long as needed.

Beautiful scene, indeed.Eozindra follows Adran with her gaze and nods minutely. She exhales a heavy sigh. He is right, after all. She concludes putting Elowin in as peaceful a placement as she is able before standing and beginning a slow, exhausted examination of the space around them. "Let us be sure this space is secure. And then we rest."
She glances to the debris of battle and wrinkles her nose, indicating the Lord Mayor and his henchmen. "I’d prefer we not share a space with the likes of them, though."
OOC:
I’m pretty burnt for spells so long rest wouldn’t go amiss. Really want to make sure we’ve got a defensible position, however, and take alternating watches. Don’t like this area at all. Also, can we look the bodies as we chuck them out of our resting site?! Not Elowin’s obviously.

I'm not inviting you to loot Elowins corps, but its worth noting that she has 8 glimmerberries and GP: 63 SP: 9 CP: 460 Healing potion: 1[ +- ] 8x glimmerberries.
Each glimmerberry functions like a goodberry (as per the spell), but unlike goodberries, glimmerberries do not expire. Alternatively, Elowin knows that she can use six glimmerberries to reduce the cost of crafting a healing potion to one quarter the usual cost.

Eozindra up there just had to mention Elowin clasping hands, even though the poor woman has a stump bleeding out on one arm now. Sorry, just had to mention that cause it cracked me up, poor Elowin.Nov 13, 2024 8:18 am

Well. She put the arm back like it is in the right place. Week 4 of bronchitis recovery! My poor brain has been a little too oxygen deprived for too long. Second round of meds, please save me!I am out of town with family until Thursday evening. May be slow to reply. Please make any applicable rolls for me. I don’t want to slow this down.
@spaceseeker19 Is it possible to retrieve the Drow crossbow bolt that she fired and didn’t hit with?

The party grieves and begins to process their loss. It is hard to believe that at most ten minutes have passed since the party first entered the Forgotten Abbey, and less than 24 hours have passed since Elysia picked the lock and the heroes first stepped through the gate from the Market District in Grayhaven. Why did they come here, anyway? They were following Tykus' map to this Abbey, looking to find an artifact that he believed was indicated on the map. The map that drow assassins had literally killed to find. Where was this artifact, then? After Eozindra gives her moving prayer and eulogy over Elowin, Adran, Morik, and Ishi begin lugging the dead bodies to the pool with an idea to dumping them there. But Morik notes that the bodies will just float on the surface if they don't find something to weigh them down. The party begins to look around: to see what's there, to see what else there might be to explore, to see what the Lord Mayor's Men were doing, to see any trace of an artifact, to find some cobbles or something to weigh down corpses, to secure against further attack, intrustion, or the return of more of the Lord Mayor's Men, to keep their minds off of their grief. There's an assortment of old junk in the room where Ishi is (the "Nursery" where the party entered the Abbey from the tunnels), but no loose stone nor any metal bits large enough to sink a body.
There are a bunch of tools for burglary and theft in the Library where Elysia is, looking down on the pile of dead bodies by the pool, but it would take a lot of any of the iron spikes, grapnels, lockpicks, or any of the other tools to weigh down even one of the bodies (though there's plenty of rope available).
The Entry Hall, where Morik is, has an unopened door at one end (the west, on the left of the map) and three unopened doors on the south wall. The far eastern end of the Entry Hall is filled with collapsed masonry; at some point that part of the buried Abbey collapsed from the pressure of tons of earth and stone of the city above it. Of all the party members, Morik is the least uncomfortable with the sensation of the vast earth above them pressing down on them...but he's still not entirely happy about it.
The Great Room, where Eozindra is, is filled with the detritus of the gang using it as their communal living space. The huge unopened door with the two bas-relief characters touching hands above it still awaits inspection in the east wall.
The Chapel, where Adran stands vigil over his sister's body, was clearly used as the Lord Mayor's bedroom. A desk and bed sit at the far end of the room, and an unopened door stands behind the altar.
OOC:
At the most liberal accounting, it is about 9 PM on the 22nd day since the party left Mara. So the party will get a long rest, just not until midnight when it becomes the 23rd day.[ +- ] What the party has seen of the Abbey

"Let the bodies float and rot, like the garbage they are!" Adran calls out from the Lord Mayor's room.
As much as a part of him wants to continue searching... his spirit is broken, and his body isn't markedly better. And to think, he faired better than almost any of his group. A thought that -- as he gazes mournfully down as his lost sister -- causes him to wonder if he had fought harder, if he had bled more, if maybe Elowin would still be with them. With him.

Morik helped clear the room, but he left unsearched places well enough alone. No need to bring any additional problems, and anything there would still be there come the morning. He stayed nearby Adran, but kept quiet and let the man grieve in peace.

Having seen nothing to the contrary in the past 24 hours, I'm going to assume that everyone wants to stay put for the few hours it takes to make it to Day 23, and then immediately take the long rest for the day. If that doesn't meet with your plan, let me know. But on that assumption...As the restless characters make their way through the areas of the Abbey that they've already visited, I'd like each PC to roll a WIS (Perception) check.

After helping to dump the bodies in the water, Ishi stares at them for a while. ::There must be something wrong about spoiling pure water like this:: he thinks to himself, but that thought is distant and almost disconnected from everything else. After a while he leaves the Library without a word to Elysia and wanders through the Entry Hall, idly tapping his fist against the wall and the columns as he walks up and down the length of the long space. After a while he notices with dull surprise that he's been punching harder and harder, because his hand is now bloody and throbbing.

Elysia is filled with an unreasonable shame that she still has her sister to love and provide comfort and support. Looking at Adran's shoulders, still hunched as if he's being beaten as he looks down at his sister's body, she is filled with grief and hurries out of the Chapel, fearful that her presence as a surviving sibling is less a comfort and more a dagger twisting in his side. Her feet take her through the detritus of a gang of ruffians living in the Great Room, marking up the plinth of the ancient statue with graffiti and leaving their trash everywhere. The stink of unwashed bodies seems particularly unclean in here, almost a desecration, somehow. She quickly leaves and watches the others dumping bodies in the pool in the Library. She feels no satisfaction in this victory. Eventually her shame fades, leaving only a dull lack of emotion. After the others leave, she remains, her eyes trailing over the many, many shelves bulging with equipment for dozens of burglaries. She wanders back and forth between the shelves, considering dispassionately which items would be useful. She takes a grappling hook, replaces her missing arrows, takes another pouch of ball bearings, and examines various sets of lockpicks.

This might be my chance
She flights her bonds and kick the bedframe she is bound to. The old wood squikes loudly as she is works.
Slowly she get one hand loose. It takes some skin off, but that will heal - if she lives to see another day.
Once has gotten out of her restraints, she scrambles to get her clothes back on.

Morik shook his head as he got up. He managed a fitful sleep, but it was his turn for the watch, and he considered simply staying up. Feeling restless, he decided to stretch his legs on a walk around the perimeter.
