OOC:
So I had a thought; Teamwork makes the beam work can teleport up to 6 if at least one of us is small. Since the spiders are, well, small, could Cass ask Pinky to port all the spiders into the ship's brig? (or utility cupboard assuming it doesn't have a brig)Oct 21, 2024 11:14 am
OOC:
Yes.It’s intended to be players only, but I would allow it to teleport the whole group. (All of you plus the spiders combined take up about 7% the volume of normal-sized Cass.)
Since the ship is in the docking bay (under repair), you would not need to beam back, so this works out to be an insta-win.
Pinky can sort so all of you end up just outside the brig and spiders are inside. There can be a force field or other means to keep the spiders locked in.
@Tickettbror, Go ahead and narrate the beaming!
You’ll still be tiny upon arrival, but you are free to stay tiny or grow back at-will.

Casanova notices the change in the spiders apparent goal. She looks down at her blaster, and then at the other members of her group. She's aware that they... that most of them can handle themselves in a fight but combat from a distance is hard without ranged weapons. It seems kind of obvious, but then- No, now wasn't the time for getting distracted.
She thought about a solution, but every one had collateral damage which wasn't something any of them wanted. The mice seemed perfectly reasonable people, even if they were a little colourful in places, so she'd rather not trash their house. Their house... house... home! That's it!
Before the spiders could escape the room, she flicked the switch on Pinky's Emergency Teleport Recall. The screen showed the targets, and she poked at everyone (minus the mice) with their targets. When she hit send she heard Pinky's voice asking if she was sure, somewhat sardonically as a ships computer could be, but she nodded and the beam hit.
There was a pulling sensation, and for a moment she had the distinct feeling her head was longer than her body. Then she heard a buzz, and felt a whoosh (these are all technical terms), before a pop deposited her and the crew just outside the brig's forcefield.

WELCOME BACK, CAPTAIN. YOU LOOK DIFFERENT. IT IS NOT A CRITICISM; IT IS A FACT.
THESE ROBOTIC SPIDERS ARE INTERESTING SPECIMENS. SHALL I STUDY THEM AND ATTEMPT TO DETERMINE THEIR PURPOSE?
The mini-K’s flit excitedly about Kurumi. Morumi says to Pinky, "I’ll bet Kurumi here already solved that riddle."
Larumi adds, "Or someone from the crew."
"But not me," Kurlumi admits, "I’m still trying to figure out why the chicken crossed the road."
The spider-bots sit patiently in the cell as they eye the crew, which is still currently shrunken.
Then after a few seconds, they start to get restless as the clacking of heels draws closer… closer…
"Ain’t ye just a literal doll?" A foxy lady in a daring vermilion red dress peers down past her mop of fiery locks, emerald eyes locked onto the ankle-high aviatrix. The vixen’s candy apple lips form a saccharine smile that could win or break a heart. Her fluffy fox tail sways hypnotically.
Two spider-bots roast their circuits trying to breach the force field to get to Vera. The others stop in recognition of the futility.
Vera ignores them. Her eyes remain fixed on Casanova. "This ain’t how I imagined our reunion’d look like, Cass. It’s better."

Thundra flexes her muscles and GROWS back to full size! "Ha! I don't know exactly what happened, but it was fun! Where are the next bad guys to punch?" she inquires eagerly.
She looks at the foxy lady. "This is your friend, Casanova? I like her!" she declares with a grin.

Luna crosses her arms in mock disappointment as Thundra grows tall once more, but her whimsical nature leaves her forgetting her momentary petulance almost instantly. "Wasn't that fun? Those spiders were very naughty, though. I think they could be programmed for better uses, such as gardening."

Figurative alarm bells ring in Cass' mind the moment she hears the heels, and it's just like Pinky to let someone aboard without express permission. Even still, her stomach is already going summersaults before Vera appears. She's just as alluring- er, well dressed? as she used to be and Cass has a hard time looking away.
She considers her options. At her current size there's probably a box or cupboard she'd be able to hide in without trouble, but that would be far too obvious. Heat rises to her cheeks as she realises the room has gone quiet as they wait for her to respond. To hide her embarrassment though, she lets herself grow to full size.
A text box, curtesy of Pinky, appears for her.
Hey Vera, time... it's been, uh, some. You're looking great- well, you're looking well.

Vera’s confidence melts a little when Cass returns to her full size. Her tail falters. Her eyes sparkle—is she holding back tears.
"I always did love that li’l blue screen o’ yours. You look.. well… as well, Cass."
She looks as if about to throw herself at Cass, but she doesn’t. She acknowledges Cass’ crew with a nod, for now.
—then the Star Vixen commander stiffens her posture and tries to suddenly be all business—
"You’re looking for that fairy, ain’t ye? But ye’ve no need to worry. She’s safely hidden in the home of a li’l mouse couple."
@Qralloq Luna did get a sensation as if absinthe had been spilled in the Mouse House, though the floor was dry.

"Are there more robots in there? Are they also so naughty? I think that living in a mousehole would be so much fun!" She does a spin, pixie dust sparkling around her. "Do you think we could have tea on saucers with the mouse couple? I didn't bring any cheese, like a proper guest."
After getting a feel for the place, she adds, "I do smell absinthe, Missy Girl was here, yay!" Small fireworks go off over her head. "But she's not here now, schmoo!"

Vera’s eyes flicker to the spidery robots.
"Naughty’s one way to put it. The li’l bots mean to program us… well, not you and me exactly. But those innocents in the caf… the bots mean to overtake ’em.
"They mean to make enemies on a world that ain’t got ’em."
She smiles, at first, when Luna mentions the scent of absinthe.
"The mark o’ the green fairy. She’s a genius, the li’l one. Cracked the code for world peace—I wanted to tell ye, Cass. Everything. Especially that Vivian’s alive!"
Cass surely recalls… the overly eager frog princess, Vivian, who left her life of luxury to become an aviatrix… only for her ship to spiral to close to the suns on the Twin Star mission.
But for Cass, she and Vera won the game with two surviving squad members. For some reason, the two had *a lot* of time together after the victory. No one played another game, which would have reset Vivian, the Slippy equivalent. Memories of her tragic demise would have been erased.
Cass has no memory of the many games in which she died, she won without Vera or with the whole team alive, or when she was the sole survivor, etc.
@Tickettbror what happened between the last game that was played up until Vera (and the other aviatrices) disappeared is entirely up to you.
One OoC fact I will tell you: if a new game had started on the Star Vixen arcade machine, Cass would have lost her memory of whatever feelings she and Vera had built up.Vera stammers a moment. "Cass, I wanted to go back for you, but Missy Girl warned me…"

Basically, Cass and Vera were in a two-player StarFox, and the other pilots were NPCs. Like Falco, Peppy and Slippy, they could die. Cass frowns. Something doesn't add up, but not in a bad way. It's like she missed something. How could Vivian have survived? If she had then surely she would've arrived at mission control. Unless she had a reason not to attend the post mission party, where the dares might've gotten a bit out of hand. And she definitely wouldn't have missed the cleanup when the group stuck together.
Not that Cass had been part of that group. She was the lone wolf that helped out. She always had been, unless she'd forgotten that part of things too. She glanced at Vera and caught her eye, Vera who must've remembered the offer. The chance to be part of something rather than her own ship in the void. For a moment the world started to fade, until Pinky's warning sounded.
"No time to hesitate." Cass coughs, reality pouring back in around her. "We need to respond."

On the other hand, Cass can teleport everyone back—she already found a way to move extra people with Luna’s help.

Cass has 1 🚀, and Luna has 4 ✨. The cost of healing the party to full health is ✨✨✨, so basically… heal at some point before the boss fight. We’ll have a couple minion skirmishes before I reveal the evil force behind it all.
She then kicks of her shoe. Yes, that’s right, Vera had a shoe phone back in Cass’ lonewolf days. She was that flirt behind the desk, often with a shoe in hand—even when making a video call. (Which is funny, come to think of it, because if Vera was seen holding the shoe, the camera was not part of her shoe phone.)
Vera says to her shoe, "Violet. Plan R."
A voice replies, "Plan R?"
Morumi is overheard through the damaged hull: "You’re not gonna start that again, are ya?"
Violet repeats in an affirmative tone, "Plan R. We’ll take the Double-Dashers."
You run to the bullet train. The crowd does what any crowd would do if Thundra is seen running: they clear a path.
A train has just arrived and as it happens, the rear car is empty. The door is about to close, but the AI does exactly as the crowd did—it has the doors part ways for Thundra, and you’re all aboard.
You could just sit and enjoy the ride, but after a minute, the door to the next car suddenly has a concave dent. THUMP! THUMP…! More dents appear—

Luna flies along, then just grabs Thundra's shoulder strap and flaps along behind her, glaring at the people so they get out of her friends way. Her tiny 'I mean business face' is entirely successful, although she does feel momentarily bad about being mean.
She Dodges the denty danger and flies inside to just above the door, ready to drop snowflakes on whomever the train trasher turns out to be.

Cass reacts quickly to the sound of the door impacts. In her world, lots of enemies enter by breaking through doors. It's a kind of ettiquette, like giving a salute before a duel. The ones that don't aren't that tough most of the time. Well, musing on enemies aside, she backs up to give Thundra some space and prepares herself for any incoming enemies.
Her blaster is already in hand, and she's ready to roll.

Bonus effect: Thundra can get a free hit with FIGHT. Narrate what you do to him as you see fit!

Several of the men in the next train car have an arm or two covered in cybertech which reminds Thundra of the machines plaguing her own land. Did she always fight machines? One of the men was just sitting on a bench, smoking a cigarette. But now he stands, sizing up a woman who’s as big as he is!
Another is so gung-ho, he smacks two gunmen out of his way with his heavy-metal left arm!
Cass can safely fire her stun gun past Thundra. In the chaos and confusion, Luna can easily slip into the next car unnoticed!
