The group moves up the 2 flights of stairs and around the corner to reach the study. Which is in the same condition in was when you left it. The book is left on a lower shelf in easy reach.

Grim will retrieve the book and hand it to Alex. Then gat in some prayer time to Talos while they read it.

"I have a background as a scholar and researcher. I'm glad to assist with the book."

"Have at it Erani."

Erani the book, is in common. It's written by an unknown mystery writer. From the pages you flip through you gather it is a piece of detective fiction claiming to be based on a true story. In the story, a tiefling investigator named Dagger Sharp tries to solve the murders of several villagers in the hamlet of Briar's End. You remember getting a bookmark out of this book from when Rangrim found the book the first time. There was something magical about the needle from the bookmark. It seemed to pulse a bit in your fingertips as you examined it.

I will take the book for later reference, in case there are clues to be had. Since I do not sleep, I can read it in the time another person would normally spend sleeping.

"This appears to be nothing than a novel that claims to be based on a true story. I'm going to read it in my spare time in case there is something to gain from it. I think the needle in the bookmark probably has more relevance to our mission, but you never know, do you?"

"May I see the Needle? Alex asks.

I retrieve the bookmark with the needle in it from my pouch and hand it to Alexander.

Casting detect magic and then I will examine the needle more closely for any indication of its purpose.

Alex as the needle draws a drop of blood from your skin it suddenly expands in your hand into a full size lightning rod.

"Well now, there's a welcome result! Well done Alex!"

"At this rate, we will be done soon and the people will have a refuge," Alex says firmly.

"Well I guess it is to the well then unless we want to hole up in here while the book is read?"

"I'm thinking the bookmark and the needle were more important than the book itself. Let us proceed to the well."
