OOC:
Might be a stupid question, but how do I roll vigilance?
Apr 22, 2025 12:26 pm
OOC:
It's Willpower + Vigilance skill. I don't see Vigilance on your sheet, so it would be two green dice for your Willpower stat.

this doesn't seem right

OOC:
Oops, Sorry, from the dropdown after 'Add new roll:' you pick the Star Wars FFG and then at the end of the Roll box there's a + that shows you the colors of the dice, click on the green one 2 times.

OOC:
oh. Guess I'm a little blind there.

Rolls

1 Success, 2 Advantage

Total: 1 Success, 2 Advantage

Bursting out of the trees to your left you see about twenty, one and a half meter tall four legged creatures. They are in a full run directly towards you. Everyone except AD-hoc can act before the creatures reach you.

Rolls

AD-Hoc Vigilance

1 Advantage

Total: 1 Advantage

Creds knows what this is: a stampede. He scans the area for a convenient hidey hole, somewhere to get him out of the way of the creatures. He spots a tree with some impressive buttress roots and buttresses himself right between them. "Dive into the trees! The roots'll protect ya!"
OOC:
Guessing at the difficulty. Setback for the life-or-death circumstances. If it's actually Easy, he'll pass advantage to the next person via his shout.

Action to identify the hiding spot. Maneuver to move to the tree, maneuver to take cover in the roots. (+2 strain).

Rolls

Survival

1 Success, 3 Advantage, 3 Threat

Total: 1 Success

OOC:
I like the setback or Life or Death. But yeah, would have been an easy check. So pass two Advantage to the next Character and anyone doing what Creds suggested won't need to roll, since he did the thinking and shared a plan.

Recognizing that Creds idea seems to be a sound one Zailor follows Creds' lead and takes cover in the bushes.
OOC:
is there some kind of rules that tell me what should be rolled or is it something the GM decides on the spot?

OOC:
ChrSch -- not the GM, of course, but I'm sure if you describe what you want to do, Esidrix (and the rest of us) can suggest what to roll and when.

In a scene like this, where we have a turn order, and every little move counts, you get one action and one maneuver per turn. A maneuver is something like drawing a weapon, aiming a weapon, moving a short distance, opening a door, taking cover in the tree roots, etc. An action is anything that requires a roll and a few random things that come from your Talents if you have them. You can always trade your action for a second maneuver if you want (so if you need to pick up your blaster and run, say. Or you can do action + free maneuver + extra maneuver by taking 2 strain.

In your case, it looks like you moved to a tree (maneuver) and took cover in the roots (maneuver). If you also wanted to do an action, like firing on the creatures, you would need to suffer 2 strain.

Does that make sense?

Also, Savagebob is an experienced player and GM with this system, so he had an idea of what made sense. But as he mentioned you can always ask, "Is there something I can roll to get an idea, understand the situation, etc." I'm more than happy to pull up your character and offer a couple examples on what skills would help you out.

Ken is quite familiar with animal stampedes and dives in amongst the trees with the others, whipping out his blaster to help cover against any animal that's foolish enough to get tangled up amongst the roots.

OOC:
[ +- ] Quick Draw

AD-hoc, stands perfectly still as the whole stampede rushes by him. His form must have been just wide enough to fool the creatures that he was an obstacle. Just as the last creature is passing between the group, two predatory creatures, about half the size of the herd animals, race past AD-hoc and converge on the grazer bringing it down mere meters from AD-hoc. The two have there paws full getting control of the wounded prey.

alrighty, I'll be keeping that in mind :)
Thanks for the patience @all

Ken keeps the two predators covered with his heavy blaster. Not opening fire yet but ready to if they show any signs of aggression towards the team.
May 2, 2025 2:00 pm
AD-hoc just watches in awe. Not aware that he was in any danger, he wasn't made of meat after all.
May 2, 2025 2:06 pm
Creds draws his light blaster pistol and fumbles with the piece to point it at the nearest creature. "We might wanna sneak past while they're distracted," he whispers to the others. "Once they're done with their supper, they may want dessert."
OOC:
At this point, just using my turn to draw weapon and aim (two maneuvers).
May 6, 2025 1:23 pm
The predators spend a few minutes subduing their prey, if not interrupted or distracted. They then settle in to tearing away at the animals meat.
May 6, 2025 2:11 pm
'Let's leave them to their dinner' says Ken. And he starts back along the trail. A little more carefully now. Blaster drawn.
May 7, 2025 5:30 am
Quietly and at the ready Zailor will follow Ken, keep an eye on the predators.
