This sounds reasonable. How do we get there?
I have my gear at my inn, but I could get that and meet you there?
OOC:
At the station / city gate / ect

"Please do hurry. Meet me at the House Lyrandar enclave in two hours. We'll have to book you an on airship to Zarash'ak. It should take about a week to get there. Once there you'll have to travel north and east to the village on Blackroot in the Deepwood. The Shadow Marches are treacherous and make for slow going, so it may add another two weeks to your journey. You should arrive before the planar conjunction though." Lassias is clearly excited by your prospects. "To think, we're witnessing a part of the Prophecy unfold right before our eyes."
Nov 8, 2024 5:37 pm
Bemused at the gnome's directions, "House Lyrandar, got it. I hope the rest of you were taking notes."

He bows to the sphinx before leaving, "A pleasure m'lady. Please do tell if you prophesy our death at any point, a heads up would be nice."

"Come Jonesy, let's get ready."

Kyras leaves to gather his things, and makes sure to send messages to the various Houses that he will be unavailable for an indeterminate amount of time but will reply to everyone once he has returned.

Once at House Lyrandar he lights up a ciggie and waits outside with Jonesy, for the others to arrive.

Tapu is amazed by Lassias' excitement about that so-called prophecy. It was clearly just a ruse to make a group of witless so-called adventurers steal a valuable item that was most likely priceless. Nobody raises the pay from 2,500 to 4,000 in an instant, no matter how good the argument was. Not that he minded much; he made a living out of getting stuff, and once he had it, he might as well up the finder’s fee some more. Turning to Lassias, Tapu says, "So once we’re there, where do we find that Coat of Eyes? How well is it protected? Who will try to get it back once we st... I mean, acquire it? Who is your local contact that told you about the whereabouts? I might have some more questions before we head out." He was surprised that nobody else seemed to want to know more about what needed to be done.

Lassias is taken aback by all Tapu's questions. After a beat he regains his composure. "You're to seek out Doria Veladaar in the village of Blackroot. She's a House Tharashk inquisitive and former resident of the village. She'll have more answers for you there."

In front of House Lyrandar
The soldier, Lady Kue, is dressed in her armor and has a backpack and a satchel at her side. On the other is a sword, and to the backpack is strapped a shield. The shield shows a deck of cards, 9 to ace, on top of the Cyre emblem.
Hey guys. I have been thinking. This feels fishy. An oracle knowing where we are, kind of explains it self, but getting our names wrong? My real name is Kue d'Orien*. My call sign was Queen of Diamond, and somewhere down the line it became Lady Kue
OOC:
*Its not uncommon for people to take the dragonmarked house name, if they work there, but usually only those with a dragonmark get to use the d' affication. That her name is d'Orien means that she bears the dragonmark of House Orien, the house of Passage.
She gives a quick salute.
Quatermaster in the Cyre special forces.

Anyway this mission, to obtain an artifact that just happens to have resurfaced? Seems a heist disguised as a prophecy.
I would love to be proven wrong, but I am preparing myself for betrail
OOC:
@Knighthawke are you with us?

Contemplation regards Kue with an impassive glance. Impassive because she lacks the capacity to look otherwise. "During the war, I was designated W313-018. I have since given myself a new name, Contemplation. I suspect that you are correct in your thinking."
Nov 11, 2024 6:35 am
Tapu looks at Lady Kue and Contemplation, trying not to let his irritation show. "Okay! Listen there, Lady Kue and whoever, whatever you are. I think we already established that this is not a rescue mission or whatever the Oracle was babbling about. However, they’re paying us 4,000, and I don’t know about you, but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen that kind of money, so I am going along with it. Also, I think Lassias strongly believes in this. So the Oracle has him enthralled or something. I don't really care. So you guys can do whatever you want, but I am going."

Kue reaction to the civilians irritation.
Cool it halfling! If you listened to was I said, I'm doing this job as the money seems good. I'm just aware that trouble can be waiting for us when we return.

And if you wen't so blinded by the promise of coins you would see it to.

She turns to Contemplation. Interesting name. What side was W313-018 on, during the war? The wording should make it clear that Kue reconises that W313-018 and Contemplation are no longer the same person.

Contemplation thinks for a moment. "During the war, she served with Cyre. It was... an experience."
Nov 11, 2024 4:30 pm
Contemplation turns to face Tapu. "My apologies, Master halfling. I will be accompanying the group. You are correct in that it is a considerable sum for our services. Such that makes me suspect there is more than what we are being told. I believe that Lady Kue is also correct in her assessment that we may be in greater danger than we know."

Seeing tempers rise, "Everyone just relax. No need to start in-fighting before we've even properly begun. Since when has $4,000 ever come that easily, prophecy or not. I'm sure there's more to it than what Lassias says, and all your assumptions are correct, so let's be smart and keep our eyes and ears open."

"I'm Kyras by the way, and this is Jonesy." pointing at the jaguar. "And yes, he does bite."
Nov 11, 2024 7:44 pm
A young man in House Lyrandyr livery approaches the group of you. "Excuse me, are you the folks I'm supposed to escort to Captain Renald d'Lyrandar and the Starshine?"
Nov 12, 2024 4:03 am
Laughing out loud at where they're to be escorted, "You can't be serious, that sounds like the name of a [Ebberon equivalent] 70s disco band! Now I know we're being taken for a spin."
Nov 12, 2024 8:00 am
Yes we are. Lead the way
Nov 12, 2024 12:45 pm
The young man is taken aback by Kyras' reaction. He recovers quickly enough, and nods to Kue before leading you all to the top of the tower. There you see a sight to behold. Moored to a docking tower by several sturdy lines is a magnificent airship. A ring of lightning surrounds its midsection, containing the elemental power used to propel it through the skies.

A man in a long brown coat approaches you. "Greetings! I'm Captain Renald, and this is the Starshine. Please make your way aboard so we can begin our journey. I'm told you all have a long way to go."
Nov 12, 2024 6:36 pm
The half elf gives a low whistle upon eyeing the grandeur of the airship, "Most impressive."

He salutes Captain Renald and makes his way into the ship with Jonesy.

"Greetings, Captain Renald. I am glad to have you at the helm," Contemplation says as she climbs aboard.
Nov 12, 2024 9:24 pm
Tapu was deep in thought as he entered the airship. Not that the novelty of it was lost on him, but he felt uneasy about the whole thing now. There was no doubt in his mind that this was a heist, but with all the people involved, he was now convinced that it was a trap of some sort. Too many people knew where they were going and most likely knew the reason. So, more and more, he was convinced that they had willingly walked into an elaborate trap. He just needed to figure out who his companions were and if he could trust them. Once he entered the airship, he sought out Kyras. "Kyras, can I have a word with you?"
Nov 13, 2024 11:49 pm
Intrigued by what the other thief might have to say, "Of course, what about?"
