Vice may also recall that there was another cart from the warforged party, left at the hall Nov 18, 2024 2:41 pm
Torhak had watched the interaction between Roz and Ikar, he had a sense that this Ikar could cause trouble, and if he was going to Torhak wanted to be in the middle of it. Alas, they retreated upstairs and Torhak turned his attention to Meepo and Laulaith's interaction. He watched as the Kobold unburdened himself of many baubles and trinkets. He was curious if the Kobold had been into the Mournland already, that is where the bard had said they would find their something of great value and importance. But he kept quiet and ladled soup into his mouth while he waited for the bard to respond. You could learn so much about people just by listening and watching.

As Torhak watches those around him, he takes notice of Roz watching him, as well. As they lock eyes, she gives him a subtle nod of acknowledgment. The minotaur is unsure how a halfling would have been so battle scarred, but he knows this barmaid has been through many. Like himself, he can tell, she doesn’t miss anything.

Laulalith cannot help but laugh genuinely as Meepo starts emptying his bag to help her in her search. "You are most kind Meepo, and I truly appreciate your help, but I'm sure we'll not find what I seek in your bag or in this room. It's like happiness or sorrow. You don't know in advance what will bring you either of those, but you will know, when you find it. For now, it's best not to talk more about it, but I promise that I'll tell you first of all when I find what I seek"
Like the rest of her companions and the other patrons, she watches Ikar's scrappers with some concern. This is a rough crowd, and Roz seems tougher than most, so it would take someone out of the ordinary to provoke this reaction.
As the other group passes through the room, Laulalith does her best to memorize their appearance. You never know when it might be useful to assume the identity of someone with that kind of reputation.

Laulalith studies the exchange between Roz and 37 and wonders whether there is more to the barkeep's dislike for Ikar than she is letting on.
She also scans the room to check whether anyone is reacting particularly strongly to the arrival of Ikar and his scrappers.

OOC:
Sorry for double posting. I came up with this afterwardsRolls
Insight: Is Roz hiding the reason for her dislike? - (1d20)
(11) = 11
Perception: Is anyyone else reacting strongly to Ikar? - (1d20+3)
(14) + 3 = 17

Tryne watched the other scavenger team go up the stairs, then returned his attention to his meal. "Always good to know who the competition is... or just who might be running around in the same area."
Glancing over at Vice, "Cart? animal driven or self propelled? I cannot imagine it would be easy to get a beast to go into the Grey. How many trips have you two made into the Grey?"
Tryne chuckles at Meepo trying to solve the lady's problem by going through all his stuff, not uncommon for a man of any kind to try to impress a lady with all the crap he had obtained, he himself had to admit he probably had tried it a couple of times.

"The cart is self propelled, but I've never driven it, so I'm not sure how one convinces it to move. I've only gone into the Gray a few times. I'll start sweating if I think too much about tomorrow trip."

Tryne's eyes light up slightly behind the orange tinged glasses, he nods with some enthusiasm, "Self propelled, cool. Never had a chance to work with something like that, but I'd love to get a look at it, see how it works. I've got a knack for such things." As if on que, the mechanical lion looks up over the table, similar to a pet, but it does not beg for scraps.

Laulalith tries to assess Roz, but the guarded halfling recovers too quickly.
As for the rest of the room, the dusty scavengers throughout the room are much easier to read. It seems like a mix of jealously and quiet fear. Perhaps, they know better than to cross Ikar’s path.

Roz seemed capable and he was glad to have made their acquaintance. His focus on Meepo and the Bard who's name he didn't know if he could pronounce returned just as the bard gave a compassionate response to the over zealous Kobold.
"Well put..." he said in between bites of his soup.

After finishing his second bowl Meepo sits back in his chair stuffed and lets out an audible buuurp about a second goes before he realized and quickly cover his mouth. oops sorry. He looks around at the table as if bashful of his rudeness. so we are meeting here tomorrow morning? What time should Meepo be here by? he looks to the two who asked Meepo to join. do we know how many days we'll be out there? Meepo doesn't want to run out of anything important like food or water.

Meepo's words bring Laulalith's attention back to her companions at the table. She had been lost in thought trying - and failing - to discern why Ikar caused such strong reactions in both Roz and the patrons.
"I too need to purchase some supplies before we set out. I suggest we each take some time to find what we need before we reconvene and go to your baseme... base of operations together"
The almost certainly un-infested basement was not where she would have prefered to spend the night. She would much, much rather sleep in the hotel, but she needed to stay close to her new companions before their journey into the Grey.
Hopefully, she could at least get a hot bath and a decent meal at the hotel before rejoining the others.

"We've only recently dealt with the undead in the basement, their remains may not have been cleaned out yet. We should probably wait until they have been respectfully dealt with before we tuen the basement into living quarters. Although there's no proper beds yet, or bedrooms, or snacks, you are welcome to grab a spot and sleep there now that you are part of the team." Vice says with a beaming smile.
"Not sure how long it would take us to get to where this potential salvage job is, or how long we'll be there, but I am admittedly, not the planner in the group. Maybe we can all pack into our cart and survey the site first? Then if there is anything there, we can see how many trips we'll need to take.
Oh we also are hoping to find some soarwood to help a friend, but than plan is waiting for the arrival of a mysterious map."

"You wish to turn the basement into living quarters?" 37 asks thoughtfully as he returns to the table. "I had imagined it would serve as storage, and the main floor would be renovated to include small rooms for individuals and a common area. Or we install a proper second floor, and put rooms up there. I do like that idea, and it would leave the main floor open..."
37 seems to lose focus for a few long moments, likely contemplating how best to use their new space for maximum efficiency. Eventually, he comes around to the here and now. "But I digress. A topic for another time. The church has space enough for everyone." With that, he will make his way towards the door.

"He does that sometimes." Vice says before loudly whispering to 37 before he can leave. "Wait, who has our map?!"

The scrapper had slept in far worse places than a what sounded like a run down building. "Sounds fine to me. Any place with walls and a roof works. Sounds like a place with potential." Tryne smiled broadly - "and a lingering ghost or two - sounds splendid."

Torhak was not keen on the idea that the place they would be taking up residence temporarily might be 'haunted', but free housing was free housing; and then there was the mention of the Church.
"Your base is a Church?" Torhak said a bit confused.
