Trusk follows the others to the old church. He quietly observes Torhak and Laulalith help hang the massive shield, and attentively takes in everything 37 and Vice have to say about the place. Having slept in worse conditions, he finds a space near the altar to settle down. "Do we need to set a watch to be on guard from the things in the basement?" he casually asks, as if sleeping over the unquiet dead is part of his daily routine.

"An excellent decision, Mr. Meepo.", Aurion takes out a key and hands it to Meepo as he continues, "Ms. Helma’s beignets are simply to die for. Here you are, room seven. Enjoy your stay, my good sir."

Meepo takes the key to his room. He recognizes another traveller from the lightning rail enter the hotel and Aurion turns he attention to him, "Welcome, welcome …" and the halfling starts his next transaction.

The diminutive half-orc is nearly packed up, but takes a moment to answer Trusk and Tryne, "The basement is safe, but I wouldn’t want to spend the night down there. Mother Jahanah is the town’s cleric with the Church of the Silver Flame. She is only here to help with the proper burials of the cursed skeletons we found and dealt with."

She lowers her voice trying to make sure the Mother cannot hear her, "She’s a powerful healer, but one of coldest people I’ve ever met."

Tryne chuckled quietly at the whispered comment, thinking of the old woman who ran the orphanage he was raised for a time. Rarely showed an ounce of warmth, but there was not a ganger anywhere in the slums that dared cross her or mess with her kids. With a nod and a smile, "I know the type."

Stepping into the main room, "I see what you mean, plenty of space." he gazed over at the alter area, his eyes narrowing. "Definitely staying away from that..." he wandered toward the other end of the hall where there appeared to be another set of doors. "Lots of potential..."

Calling out to 37, "Hey 37 - you have a workshop setup somewhere or do you work with the local smith?"

Once he reaches the far end, he examined the doors to see how secure they appeared. He would definitely need to examine the outside of the place to determine where all the exits emptied.
OOC:

Thanks for the map, very helpful.
Investigation roll on the doors, just checking out how solid everything is.
Is the main area cleared, littered with remains of pews, what is the condition of things?

Post Roll: Well - Tryne's day is just off. Guess he is tired from the long trip :)

The doors seem solid enough. The seems mostly cleared out. There is little left. Strangely, a large silver statue of a knight stands on the altar.
OOC:
It may be a good time to point out one of house rules. I don’t give out a lot of inspiration, but everyone has one free reroll each week. The reset is Saturday at midnight. It’s a "use it or lose it" situation. You may use it for any roll you wish.

After greeting Famul and praising his work, and conferring with Mother Jahanah, 37 looks towards Tryne. "We have been... traveling a great deal, and also just came into possession of this building. While proper facilities would be nice, other things have taken much of our attention."

Vice returns to the hall and admires the shield that's been mounted. He quietly enters, trying not to disturb anyone, and sets to making a blanket fort in an out-of-the-way corner of the main room.

Laulalith surveys the abandoned temple, and her resolve to sleep under the same roof as her new companions falters. Meepo had chosen to sleep in the inn. Perhaps she should too? The discomforts of the road would catch up with her soon enough. She might as well get one last night's sleep in a proper bed before venturing into the Mournland. After all, it might be her last.

"I will need to purchase some equipment before I'm ready so sleep here, so I will spend the night at the inn instead. I will rejoin you here early tomorrow."

She says goodbye to others and makes her way to inn determined to get a proper meal, a hot bath, and a soft bed - and a nice breakfast before tomorrows ordeals.
OOC:
I will purchase some standard equipment on the way to the inn. LIke Lali, I just realized that she doesn't have camping gear.

"All I need is a roof to keep the rain off of my horns, so I'll stay" Torhak looked to a corner opposite of where Vice had begun setting up his...blanket fort? "Is this corner of the room spoken for?"

Tryne continues to wander around the edges of the main room, making note of any windows or opening.

Seeing Vice start to setup an area, "With the undead issues... have you slept here yet?"

He had noticed that the back room which Mother Jahanah had disappeared into. "Eventually the smaller rooms my be better for sleeping, but I agree, anyplace dry is welcome. Thanks for the offer.

Tryne will head outside, taking his lion with him, circling the outside of the building so that he knew where all of the exits where and what was around the building. He then returns to pick a spot along one of the longer walls about equal distance from the two main doors.

Vice gives Torhak a thumbs up before replying to Tryne; "We only recently discovered the issue in the basement and took care of it immediately. And a knight that was with us took care of the ghost woman trapped up in the rafters. . . Oh, I just realized those situations might have been related. Good thing Mother Jahanah came by to put those poor tormented souls to rest. Hmmm, I imagine she is nicer to the undead than she is to the living. Sorry Tryne, what was your question again?

Torhak nodded, continuing the stream of non verbal communication. He began setting out his bedroll and pulled out some rations to snack on. Then from his bag he pulled a small instrument that looked like a Clarinet, it was his song horn. "Does anyone mind if I practice?" he said to the others in the room.
Nov 25, 2024 4:23 pm
"Not at all," 37 replied as he walked past on his way to remove the gem that opened the basement, securing it for the night.

OOC:
I don't have more to add for Lali before the night.

OOC:
Sorry, been a crazy day. I’ll have a post up in a couple hours. Lali, did you wan to RP the shop and hotel as well? Your call, I’m up for it.
Nov 26, 2024 6:00 am
OOC:
No, I'm good. And please don't worry about the pacing. I didn't intend to stress you or anything.

Mother Jahanah and her two friars finish collecting the last of the remains from the basement as the sun as dipped beneath the ghoulish veil of the Mournland. A waxing crescent Zarantyr sits high above the town. Tryne sees their wagon meandering toward the town’s graveyard.

In his check of the exterior, Tryne finds two sets of large doors to the main hall, behind the altar wall, he finds a small room and an office that connect to a storage room with a back door leading outside. 37 is seen in this small room as he retrieves a red, teardrop amulet from the mouth of a dragon skull and the trap door in the floor, seals closed without a trace. In the same back room, an attic door can be seen high above. From Vice’s stories, that appears to be where the hall’s ghost once resided and the church bell tower can be access. Famul mentions he used the room’s ladder to help affix the shield, but has since returned it. Several boarded up windows and shutters are spread out around the hall. Small piles of debris can be found around the exits from the little automaton’s efforts to clean out the building.

As Torhak plays his song horn, the group takes the time to relax and settle in for the night. The acoustics allow the Minotaur’s song to float throughout the entire main hall. Laulalith takes the moment to bid everyone a good evening as she departs for the provisions shop. There, she meets a very young man named Harry Brindle. He’s a little scatterbrained and the shop seems like organized chaos in every corner, but he has all the basic necessities for a trip into the Mournland.

After a bit of shopping, the elf crosses to the Salvation hotel, where an enthusiastic halfling greets her. He has a room prepared for her and goes over the same rates and offers for the hotel.
OOC:
5 silver for the room. 2 sp extra for the donuts and coffee. Let me know the provisions you’re looking for. No stress on my part. I don’t mind at all.

Let me know if there’s anything else anyone would like to do before bedtime :)

OOC:
I thought I lacked provisions, but it turns out that I had bought an explorer's pack. I do, however, need a component pouch, which I had forgot.

OOC:
I’m all set for us to keep going.
