Laulalith exits the door and follows the cliff face to the right. Though she knows she has to be on the lookout for problems, she cannot help looking back over her shoulder at Klause and the Professor, curious to see what will happen to the ghosts when they try to leave.
OOC:
Was it just Meepo rolling perception or everyone?

As Tryne stays back, Meepo, 37, Laulalith and Torhak step out into the alcove. The kobold is busy adjusting his new mask. The elf and warforged take in their surroundings. Once outside, they get a clearer view of the stony hills. Looking above, 37 and Laulalith notice a wisp of dust floating out of view toward the top of the cliff.

Both find it odd, since the lack of even the slightest breeze has persisted for their entire journey so far. Having spent several days in the Grey, 37 knows this even more so. He also notices the dust does not just blow away, it disappears.
Jan 12, 2025 12:10 am
"Possible contact!"

37 will point in the direction of the ridge the dust came from.
Jan 12, 2025 4:16 am
Vice grasps his weapons and heads over to 37. He looks to where the warforged is pointing. "What did you see?!"
Jan 12, 2025 10:12 am
Laulalith catches a glimpse of the mysterious swirling dust out the corner of her eye, and she immediately starts running towards the disturbance. She speaks a word of power that causes a silvery mist to appear in front of her. Then she takes a single step into the mist and vanishes only to reappear on a ledge a third of the way up the cliff encircling them. When she arrives, she runs upwards along the inclined ledge towards the disturbance while she sings a short whimsical song laced with magic. When the tune ends, lights of every colour of the rainbow explode at the clifftop where she last saw the dust cloud.
"It was over there!"
OOC:

Misty step (warlock spell slot) to get to a ledge on the cliff.
Move upwards along the ledge
Faery Fire (bard spell slot) centred on where the dust cloud seemed to be going

EDIT: I had to edit the post because I had underestimated the height of the cliff. Original post can be seen below.

The elf makes it about three quarters the way up the hundred foot cliff. Her spell just crests the top. She watches as an explosion of dust sends several creatures scattering into the air.
OOC:
What colour is your faerie fire?

OOC:

Oh. I completely underestimated the height of the cliff. I'll edit the post to something that makes more sense.

The Farie Fire is all the colours of the rainbow. Or if that is not an option then it's vermilion :)

Edit: I have updated my previous post. It was fortunate that the range of Misty Step + Faerie Fire was sufficient to reach the top of the cliff, so we didn't have to do too much of a ret con.

At the sight of the creatures, Tryne draws his shield and multi tool, preparing to defend an attack and keep the coach in the relative safety of the warehouse.
Jan 12, 2025 11:02 pm
Vice would be jealous of the colourful display, as multicoloured, glowing dust flies out from the crest of the cliff. Flying upon his broom, Meepo is greeted by small, winged creatures, seemingly made of the dust from the surrounding terrain. With pointy ears and pointier noses, they streak toward the kobold. Their cries are hoarse and raw, like sand blown by the wind across stone.

From below, the others see a bright, glowing rainbow, streaking toward their flying friend. Less than half a second later, the colourful group is joined by nearly twenty more of the dusty, impish creatures. These being as grey as the stone and rock surrounding them.
OOC:
We’ll play this as theatre of the mind. I don’t think we need initiative.

Let me know what you want to do.

"Can we outrun these things in the cart?" Vice ask
Jan 13, 2025 4:05 am
"Those on the outside would be battered!" Torhak bellowed back to Vice over the hoarse, raw, cries of the rainbow colored dust. As he spoke he aimed down his arm at one of the creatures and fired off a necrotic bolt!

Rolls

Necrotic Bolt (Fire Bolt) - Attack - (1d20+8)

(11) + 8 = 19

Necrotic Bolt (Fire Bolt) - Damage - (2d10)

(11) = 2

When Meepo notices the many creatures flying towards him he immediately puts on the brake and flys at top speed back down onto the ground.
OOC:
movement: 50 ft towards the ground.
Action: not sure if I can use a dash action or not on a magic item but if I can I'll dash to reach the ground. If I çant then Meepo will cast darkness at a point in air that he can see that he is flying into once he is in the area of darkness he will change his path so that he emerges out of the darkness spell at a different location than the winged creatures would assume by his trajectory into the spell.
Jan 13, 2025 6:30 pm
As the impish dust creatures descend on Meepo, Laulalith lets out a surprised cry. She had not imagined that there were so many creatures observing them. She calls out to Meepo, as she clings precariously to the narrow ledge. "Are they hosti..." But her words are cut short by Torhak's bolt. "Nevermind."
OOC:
I know we're not in initiative, but I still don't think it's Lali's turn yet, so I'll postpone posting an action.
Jan 13, 2025 7:14 pm
There's a crackle and the smell of ozone for a moment before raw electricity discharges twice in rapid succession from the crystaline node in the center of 37's chestplate at the rainbow-hued pests.
OOC:
Two blasts with advantage against the rainbow-hued enemies.

Rolls

Attack (Lightning Launcher) - (2d20H1+7)

(198) + 7 = 26

Damage (Lightning) - (2d6+4)

(44) + 4 = 12

Attack (Lightning Launcher) - (2d20H1+7)

(1312) + 7 = 20

Damage (Lightning) - (1d6+4)

(4) + 4 = 8

Jan 13, 2025 8:23 pm
Vice, realizing he can't do much from here, prepares a sleep spell. "Well, we woke these things up, maybe we can put some of them back down?!"
OOC:
If I can't cast the spell now, I'll do it as soon as they are in range
[ +- ] Sleep

Rolls

Sleep Spell - (5d8)

(12631) = 13

Jan 13, 2025 8:54 pm
OOC:
I had the same idea! it's raining imps!
Laulalith graps a handful of loose sand from the ledge and holds it in her upturned palm. She blows the sand out towards the descending imps while she whispers words that impue each grain with magic. As the enchanted dust spreads outwards, she hopes to see the weakest members of the flock fall unconscious and then plummet to their doom.
OOC:
Sleep, warlock spell slot (2nd level). Aiming for the second group that wasn't covered in Faerie Fire.

Rolls

Sleep 2nd level, HPs affected - (7d8)

(5525774) = 35
