"I could use a couple of these. Jackpot! It's powered off, but I'll let you know when that changes."

Corbin grabs his tools and moves to the Technical Access panel on the robot's side. He begins the process of powering on the robot, keeping an eye out for a manual override or controller.
OOC:
I'm cool with how the scene went, but I totally meant to shoot. My phone rang and I posted without adding the rolls.

Rolls

[SWN] Corbin McRogers: Fix - (4d6h2+4)

(2243) + 4 = 11

Hank sighs. Since he sent Maya to search for stuff, he figures that means he needs to start distracting. He could die in one shot since he already has some damage, but ... it is what it is.

Hank moves to the door to the Lab, opens it, and goes inside for cover. Can he still get a shot off after doing all of that?

Rolls

Hank Heron: Laser Rifle*+ - ToHit - (1d20+1+3+2)

(2) + 6 = 8

daryen says:

Yup. I added it to your post. But like everyone else, you missed.
The hallway lit up with the staccato flashes of laser fire and plasma bursts from Douklan, Mercer and Hank, bolts streaking past the demonic figure—searing against bulkheads, blackening the scorched floor, but finding no purchase in its twisted flesh.
OOC:

Who is/are the target(s) of the next attacks?
1d6Who?

The air rippled—a sudden shimmer of warped heat tearing through the narrow corridor.

Mercer barely had time to register the shift before a lash of pyrokinetic force slammed into him. Fire coiled around his chest and arm, blackening the armor plating and searing the exposed edges of his coat. The scent of scorched synth-weave filled the air.

He dropped to one knee behind cover, biting back a scream through clenched teeth. Steam rolled off him in waves, his skin flushed red beneath burned armor. The pain was sharp, immediate—but he was still conscious, still alive.
OOC:
Take 9 damage, Mercer has 10 HP now.

Corbin dropped to one knee beside the hulking war bot, the thing’s armored chassis looming like a tank-sized sarcophagus in the half-lit gloom of the robotics production area. Emergency lighting flashed faint red across its matte, scratched plating—scars from whatever chaos had torn through the lab earlier.

He popped open a recessed maintenance panel near its shoulder joint, cables and hardened circuitry packed tight beneath layers of shielding. With practiced fingers, Corbin began rerouting auxiliary power from the emergency grid, feeling the subtle hum vibrate through the floor as the robot's systems flickered to life one by one. A dull whirr sounded as the giant's limbs twitched slightly—its heavy arms flexing, servos realigning, and optic sensors glowing a dim amber.

Right in the central block of its combat systems he found a compact Combat AI Core. A sleek cylinder housed in a locking cradle, feeding directly into the tactical interface.

The terminal presented him with three options, flickering in stark green text:

1. REMOVE COMBAT AI CORE
Disables all autonomous combat behavior. Robot will require direct manual control via tether or external pad. No risk of friendly fire, but high demand on operator focus and range limitations.
OOC:
Roll Fix to do that
2. LEAVE AI IN PLACE
Allows full autonomous action based on pre-loaded combat protocols. Moderate chance of friend-foe ID error, especially after the demon-thing is killed. Fastest activation. Least secure.
OOC:
No need to roll
3. OVERRIDE + REPROGRAM AI
Secure the AI core with a rewritten FOF (Friend-Or-Foe) profile. Involves short hack, but risks system instability or trip of security failsafes. Best of both worlds if successful.
OOC:
Roll Program to do that

No time to take risks...

Corbin pulls the AI core and starts syncing his forearm pad to the robots frequency.

Douklan tries to kill the demon again...or, failing that, keep it occupied so that Corbin can finish his work and save everyone else.

Rolls

Plasma Projector, damage on a hit - (1d20+8, 2d8+2)

Mercer will also keep firing. Now that there is a plan he is sticking to it.
OOC:
I am not missing a way for there to be healing?
If there is I would do that but I don't think so...

Rolls

Mercer Canaan Furio: Shoot - Usual roll - (1D20+6)

(1) + 6 = 7

Mercer Canaan Furio: Laser Rifle - (1D10*)

Well.... Now I really hope there would be a way to heal...

Hank calls out, "Eat shit Alfredo!" as he unleashes another burst attack from his laser rifle.

... and misses wildly. :-(

The barrel of Douklan’s plasma projector hissed as it discharged, sending a crackling bolt of energy streaking toward the monstrous creature. The blast struck the beast in the upper chest, searing flesh and forcing a guttural snarl from its twisted maw. It didn’t fall—but it staggered, eyes burning with rage as it turned its attention fully to Douklan.

Meanwhile, both Mercer and Hank missed their shots.
OOC:
Mercer can only heal again after an in-game day...

The creature let out another guttural roar and thrust its hand forward, the air shimmering with heat as it tried to ignite Douklan once again. But the searing wave of pyrokinetic energy struck only scorched floor panels as Douklan threw himself behind a lab bench, heart pounding.

Meanwhile, in the robotics production area, Corbin yanked free the AI core from the war robot’s chest with a metallic snap, revealing a tangle of fiber-optic lines and exposed circuitry. He quickly patched his forearm pad into the control interface, fingers flying across the screen. The warbot’s optics flared dimly, flickering to life as systems came online one by one.

"Control locked in," Corbin thought, watching as the synced telemetry streamed across his display. The robot stood motionless, waiting for orders—his orders. But he could feel it already: to keep the massive machine moving and fighting, he’d need to focus entirely. No firing his rifle. No moving closer, taunting and diving for cover. Just the bot and the battlefield.
OOC:
The robot will fire using your stats, round and actions, Corbin. But it has its own HP and the weapon damage is 3d6, with enough ammunition and power for 10 combat rounds.
OOC:
PCs turn! What do you do?

Corbin goes down on one knee, steading his arm across the other one. He quickly arranges the controls on his screen.

"Someone order a war-bot?"

He focuses on the screen and moves the robot out of it's cradle an towards the monster.
OOC:
I assume it has it's own 'move' rating. Can it be to the doorway beside the lab in 1 move or 2? i.e. Can I see the monster in one move and fire or will it take 2.
May 25, 2025 2:07 pm
From his position on the floor, Douklan rolls up to a crouch, aims, and fires again. But he should know better; he needs to take his time and aim carefully.

Yup. Go ahead and gimme a roll for this round. =)

Corbin sees the door into the cryo area on the screen, he pivots the bot and can see the monster through the open doorway. He catches flashes of the others shots crisscrossing the hallway. Bringing up bot's Plasma Cannon he checks the aim and fires.
