Hello all,

Online I go by Nemo. I am likely here for similar reasons many of you are (may have skimmed over other introductions). I love D&D, but I just don't get enough it as a working adult playing with other working adults as we're lucky if we can two 2-3 hour sessions in a month. Over the holidays it has been especially tough as all we've had is the Christmas themed one-shot I ran this last Saturday.

I've been into D&D for a relatively short amount of time as I am among the many who were enticed by Critical Role. I jumped into a few campaigns that didn't work out before deciding that I'll just DM for the players who have been consistent. Being the genius that I am I decided my first DM experience should be entirely homebrewed. Eventually two of those members became increasingly flakey so I started a Curse of Strahd group with my wife, two of my co-workers, and a guy we met in our first D&D group who has never missed a session. When I started grad school I had to put Strahd on the back burner, but one of my players kept the group alive by starting up Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden where I played a bard. Now that I'm done and have time to DM again we also have a fun problem of we have two campaigns with the exact same players and not enough time to play them (womp womp).

Recently I began thinking about my first roleplay experience which was World of Warcraft in game and in the forums, which made me wonder if there was a way to play D&D in a forum like environment. I figured I wasn't the first person to think of this so a few google searches later I ended up on a YouTube video that referenced this site. My goal here is to experience a game, see how its done in such an asynchronous manner, and start a campaign with my main group of players through discord to help scratch that D&D itch over the weeks between sessions of our main campaign.

I look forward to my time here!

Welcome, NemoTheWizard. PBP is a slower pace, it fits into your schedule when you need it to, rather when others are available, and allows for more time, care and description to go into your actions. Hope you find some great games.

Welcome to our community, NemoTheWizard. Familiar story! I also joined the site because there wasn't enough time to game IRL. 8 years later, I am still loving it. Very cool to hear about your experience role-playing in the World of Warcraft forums. Have you heard of the documentary "The Remarkable Life of Ibelin" on Netflix? Here's an article about it!
