Pyrrah all but throws Neph to the ground in her haste to sweep her bow off of her shoulder and nock an arrow. She takes aim at the rapidly receding bat and lets loose an arrow.

"Hold on, Ameera!"
OOC:
Im including sneak attack because I believe it counts here? You may have to check me on it, but if Ameera is currently on the bat, then she is within five feet and I believe that grants the additional damage for it being "distracted"
OOC:
EDIT: Noooooooo! Not again! The dice gods have granted me favor with a crit, then hath turned around and condemned me!

What food do you think that bat eats?

At the blank stares of those not occupied otherwise, Baric asks again, pulling a small copper wire for later from his component pouch and already moving his hands as though conducting a silent orchestra, What food—or rather—what smell, would attract that bat back...—I've got it!

Conjuring a scent memory from a recent war, he apologizes to the others before chanting and conducting.
OOC:
If possible, I'd like to use prestidigitation directly in front of the creature's nose and move the odor created back toward the part. If that's too powerful, I'll create a strong scent of burning flesh at a spot near the group but not directly on top of it. I am unaware of any required checks, but am willing to make one as requested.

Ameera never liked second story work, let alone fifth or seventh story. She has no head for hights, and was never much for climbing a rope. This is much worse.
As she slides off of the giant bat like creature in panic, she desperately searches for any saving grace. Suddenly, she hears her name called out and her attention snaps to the source. "Flare!" she calls, and again feels the gut wrenching of teleportation. Ameera appears near Pyrrah within a silvery mist.
OOC:
as close as possible given the 30' range

Erran manuevers through his companions on the bridge, placing himself in between the airborne abberation and the rest of his party.

He extends his left hand towards the creature while his sword quickly materializes in his right, white hot flames momentarily enveloping his fingers before they leap towards his hellish target as a phase of the dragon's tongue leaves his lips.

"Ixen bluthel!"

As Devanis vaults onto the bridge he rolls into a crouch. Quick as a flash he slaps a bolt into his crossbow and with an uttered curse he sends the quarrel streaking towards the bat-creature.

Hand-crossbow attack, damage, Hunter's Mark - (1d20+7, 1d6+4, 1d6)

Pyrrah's shot misses as the bat veers to the side, distracted by a new, oddly enticing smell coming from the bridge. As Ameera slips off of the bat's back and falls to the air, she evaporates into a cloud of mist, reappearing swiftly and (what appears to be) competently beside the roguish archer.

Erran and Devanis show the beast no quarter as it arcs around for another pass, striking it with quarrel and flame. As it turns around, your group can see it for the first time from the front. Though its body is similar to that of a bat's, with large spine-tipped wings, and talon-tipped feet, its thick neck tapers into an oddly humanoid face. Its eyes are large, cloudy and bloodshot, drawn open wide, as its mouth parts and displays rows upon rows of fang-like teeth.

It seems drawn to Baric at the moment, descending down onto the bridge beside him and taking a bite. The Dwarf is able to duck under the first bite, and move beneath the beast in such a fashion that it practically somersaults in an attempt to bite at him a second time. This time it is successful (7 damage to Baric), but it is put into a compromising position...
OOC:
The first person to attack the bat (which can be any of you), has advantage.

"I can't... oow... aaggh.. what is that sound?! It hurts! Make it stop!"

Seraph seems to be in a great deal of pain, though none of you can quite detect the cause...
OOC:
Feel free to try, though! Perception-based.

Neph shouts a brief syllable in her tongue, which sounds something like a curse, and she begins to hobble toward the other end of the land bridge. One of her wings looks bent and crumpled, likely from the way the bat had grabbed her, but she moves as quickly as she can on her feet.
[ +- ] Ameera

Devanis reaches for Seraph and slashes at the bat creature in the same motion that he draws the blade from the sheath at Erran's hip.

Pyrrah's hand buzzes relentlessly from the failed shot moments before, the string having caught on her knuckles and radiating through her hand.

Seeing Neph start to move to the far edge of the bridge, Pyrrah charges after her. After all, if she got picked up again if she wasn't there then there was no way that she could save her again. "Neph, wait! It isn't safe on your own! Stay with the group! "

Once she catches up with Neph, she wheels around and let's loose another arrow from her bow at the bat currently being slashed at by Devanis.
OOC:
If it is engaged within 5 feet of an ally, sneak attack.

"Get back!" Erran yells at the bat as it lunges after the Dwarven entertainer.

Closing into range and letting a gout of flame erupt from his palm at the creature, he angles the cone upwards and in a way to avoid engulfing anyone besides the flying fiend.

"Cha'sidic di valtir!"

Ameera, still confused by evens of the last few seconds, "hears" Neph and then Flare. "Flare! go with her! she says her people are in trouble! I think I can find Neph and follow!"
Zubie, where are you! Help with this thing! She calls out mentally. Zubie appears and swoops to harass the parties opponent.
Ameera reaches out toward the bat creature and says "Agradoth" to cast agonizing blast.

[ +- ] Devanis
Seraph's steel rings aloud once drawn, and as Devanis cuts the bat creature, it is simultaneously torched by Erran, blasted by Ameera, and shot in the neck by Pyrrah. This sudden and extremely effective retaliation causes the bat to bleed from its wounds and skitter swiftly along the ground with its wings and talons before taking flight.
OOC:
The beast is using Disengage.
It flies dozens of feet away, but seems to be arcing back around for another pass.

Neph continues to flee to the other side of the land bridge, though she appears somewhat slower, so others are capable of catching up.
OOC:
Baric, feel free to take 2 turns when you return.
Mar 25, 2017 5:02 pm
OOC:
Is it within my 240' spell range? :)
Mar 26, 2017 2:56 pm
OOC:
Absolutely. :) It moved 40 feet away, kind of in a "arc" of sorts.

"Neph!!!" Pyrrah cries, anger and fear for her churning within her, fighting for dominance, like the waves of a tumultuous sea. She quickly catches back up before turning to take another shot at the now undistracted creature.

(17) + 5 = 22

Ameera runs towards Neph and Pyrrah, swerving to avoid being shot by arrows from her angry companion. In her mind she calls, Your doin' great Zubie, distract it again! and hopes that her familiar can reach the giant bat again. Getting as close to Neph as she can, Ameera pivots with hand outstretched and exclaims "Agradoth!"

Alright, so not so close with the scent next time. Baric lifts himself up from the ground and wipes some blood from his shoulder. He stares angrily at the creature and begins a slow pounding on his drum.

A few beats in, he begins to chant, allowing a drum beat to punctuate each line,

You've failed once and you'll fail again,
the might of we heroes will serve as your end!

His words seeking to wound, he continues as the creature arcs around,

You fly through the deep on wings of formed of dark,
Yet will meet certain doom at the end of your arc!

A final drumbeat echoes through the darkness as Baric draws his rapier, readying to strike when the creature returns.
OOC:
If the sound of my drums would hamper or harm the creature in any way, I'd love for that to occur. Perhaps Baric works toward that end if he knows something is going on sonically (read, if he passes his perception check.)

Rolls

Perception on the sonic vibrations. - (1d20+1)

(19) + 1 = 20

Vicious Mockery (both turns) damage on a failed DC 13 Wisdom Saving Throw - (1d4, 1d4)

You guys are rolling like mad!
The bat it caught by yet another arrow and a blast of Ameera's magic. It appears distracted, though if by Zubie or Baric's deep drums one could not tell.
