Your gods?.. What are you?..
He is broken from his moment of thought as Erran sees his two companions beginning to delve farther into the cave system in pursuit of Pyrrah and Ameera.
Jogging slightly, with sword readied over his shoulder, he catches up to them in time to hear Devanis' trailing thought,
"That thing, it was mouthing the tongue of Elves. It spoke of its gods, and how they have been forsaken by them..." Erran says somewhat timidly, clearly off put by the experience.

Ameera and Pyrrah have a Surprise Round!
The two women of the expeditionary group unleash an ambush that would put most military units to shame. With careful aim, Pyrrah knocks an arrow and looses it at the nearest beast. The broad tip cracks through the beast's skull and juts out the other end. The creature, with a pixie beneath his large claw, is halted, but almost in a blind daze it continues its assault, which is only cut short by Ameera's terrifying blast. The bolt slams into the hound's flank and propels it out into the chasm, to disappear into the dark depths below. The other hounds detect the threat (interestingly, they do this simultaneously, as though they all spotted you in unison), and some of them seem intent on those above.
Neph continues charging down the spiral that leads to her home, shouting in her own tongue with such panic that it is painful and saddening. She is nearly there. The others of her kind retaliate and defend themselves as best they can. Ameera and Pyrrah can spot them throwing bursts of magic light and blinding the beasts, but most of their efforts are ineffective.
As this occurs, Devanis, Erran and Baric arrive at the entrance of this cylindrical chasm. They can see Ameera in her position, though Pyrrah is half a turn further below.

I'd argue that because of your higher ground, and the angle that you're firing, the effective/max ranges are increased. Devanis, Baric and Erran are entering the cave and are currently at an angle that they cannot see into the pit. They can see Ameera standing atop the pit and firing blasts into it, though. Ameera is about within range for you guys to run over to her on this turn.
Don't concern yourselves too much with exact distances this fight, since it's at such a long range that charging into melee isn't immediately an option anyway. It does look like the enemy may be coming to you, though.
• On your first turn during combat, you gain a +10 bonus to your speed.
• If you use the attack action on that turn, you can make one additional attack.
• You are also adept at evading creatures that rely on darkvision. Such creatures gain no benefit when attempting to detect you in dark and dim conditions. Additionally, when the DM determines if you can hide from a creature, that creature gains no benefit from its darkvision.

• On your first turn during combat, you have advantage on attack rolls against creatures that have not yet acted.

Since Hiding is another action, you'll need to handle that on another turn if you still wish to attack on this turn.

Each of the beasts begin their charge up the cliffside, more concerned about the attack from above than they are about the smoke and mirror magics of the pixies within their hovels. The talons of four hounds tear away chunks of rock as they scale the cliff with ease. The party sends another volley of blasts down as the approaching threats, and through a combined effort they manage to send one of the hounds falling off of the rocks, riddled with bolt and arrow. The other three appear fresh... and angry...
The pixies, and Neph now among them, seem to be taking a moment to gather any casualties; to reassess and collect the wounded.
