Erran, I went ahead and rolled your Athletics for your (that was the 18 that I rolled). Baric, since you can pick up a dropped item as a part of an action, I went ahead and just had you collect your dagger again. Reminder that Pyrrah is still giving advantage on anyone that accepts her aid in going through the door. Also, spending your action on going through the door makes the check significantly easier.

As the dust starts to settle, Ameera cranes to see past Pyrrah and Devanis. Move your tails heros! We don't need more bodies to fight! Seeing motion towards the direction of Erran, Ameera begins to twist her hand in a quick outward roll, thinking I hope that is not the dwarf, it seems too tall for the dwarf, get out of there Erran. Ameera squeaks Agradoth, and a erratic bolt of purple-white energy snakes past her companions toward the shadowy figure moving towards Erran.

The large wight with the chewed face---currently wrenching the armor on Erran's back---is thrown downward and to the side as a powerful blast strikes him in the neck. He is propelled into the floor a few feet away due to the force of the blast, his skull cracking against the stones before he no longer moves. His body is still, except for the occasional twitch of a finger, until his entire form shudders as a dark wisp extends off of his back...

OOC:
Naw, if you see yourself roll a crit, go ahead and just reroll the dice. :)

Ow ow ow!

Curse you and your boyfriend. You're not worth the air you breathe! And you don't even breathe! Baric cuts the assault spell off with a hiss and runs past the spirit at a sprint.

Halting between the two spirits, he realizes that there's more than just the one spirit to get past. He backs against the wall, rapier drawn, ready to attack any of the creatures potentially about to attack him.

Rolls

Vicious Mockery: Wisdom throw DC 12. On fail: damage - (1d4)

(3) = 3

Devanis is torn between making another attempt at the door crossing and going to Erran's aid. And what of Baric? The crazy dwarf appears to have no intention of fleeing!

"Dammit!" Devanis snarls, springing to Erran's side, slashing at the wight high and low with sword and axe. "Let's get out of here, Erran!" he yells, "Baric, come on!"

"You're all fools! The lot of you!" Pyrrah shouts, yanking back her hand. "Hold this!" She quickly passes off the torch to Ameera next to her and pulls on her bow. "Obviously those not of Sevarra never learned to sharpen their survival skills!" She aims at one of the creatures already engaged by her allies and fires.

Baric's cutting words weave into magic that causes the wisp to cringe, twitch and dim. Eventually it snaps and pops, breaking apart into small motes of light that fade into nothingness. Baric passes it by, hiking up the canted floor to hug the wall.

The wiry wight that is harrying Erran's flank turns to meet Devanis' strikes, but is too late. The shortsword and handaxe both cut deep across its arm and chest, raking flesh and muscle beneath. Just as it turns, Pyrrah's arrow strikes, splitting the creature's forehead as the arrow breaks through its skull with a crrrack! It remains standing, eyes going wild as it lashes out against Devanis with a hand tipped with jagged, yellow nails. He rakes Devanis across the forearm, turning portions of his sleeve to bloody ribbons (Crit; 8 Slashing Damage).

The wisp from the most recently perished wight approaches Erran from behind, wrapping one of its tendrils around his upper arm and sapping his strength. There is little effect other than to cause Erran's arms to buckle and the door to come crashing inward. The wood breaks into splinters on Erran's sword and armor, revealing the foe behind it. Standing tall is a skeleton with cracking bones and long pairs of fangs. Within its sockets are embers burning a fiery orange, and upon its forehead is etched a glowing, purple rune. It is armored in full platemail that is black from the midsection and up, as though covered in ash, while the rest of it looks rather rusted, but silver. He wields a greatsword, broad and straight, with various runes carves into the blood channel in the middle.

The skeletal foe tilts its head down, the angle of its teeth making it appear as though it is smiling from ear-to-ear. It moves the tip of the greatsword forward, drawing the handle back to the side of its head as he levels it parallel to the floor. It is aimed directly at Erran, and the skeleton's armor clinks and shifts as he assumes an aggressive stance.

Decided to continue forward. Erran, I'll consider you to have just held your turn, so you can go ahead and do last turn's action and this turn's action as soon as possible.

Additionally, if there was any concern about it, the wisp attacked and missed Erran. I rolled Erran's athletics and the skeleton won, so I just flavored the wisp as weakening Erran to give the skeleton the upper hand. I'll tend to do stuff like that a lot, if you haven't noticed.

Aaannnd, going to do Ameera's vision of the room now.

OOC:
From behind Pyrrha, can I see any bit of an enemy? I am assuming the door is not ajar favorably enough to see the skeleton I pissed off earlier?
Nov 19, 2016 7:53 pm
OOC:
I can probably step out of the way as I readied an arrow or something. It's not like I used my movement from last turn, so...
Nov 19, 2016 8:01 pm
OOC:
Sure can! I don't mind you guys using the Side Initiative to your advantage and kind of doing turns simultaneously (P1 moves, P2 moves into their old space, P2 does action and moves away, P1 moves back and does their action), so long as it doesn't get too silly. But you're also free to stand next to Pyrrah and lean out of the door to see the Skeleton. From that angle he'll still have half-cover due to the wall, but depending on what you do it may not matter.

OOC:
Also, I've redone the Battle Map to more accurately represent the walls that are not 5 feet thick.

Upon hearing the splintering wood, Ameera can only assume that the skeletal entity has broken through the door and has overrun Erran, she thinks to herself Yes Flare, foolish heros the lot of them! But maybe not dead yet.. She pictures the burning eyes in the smiling skull. it must be able to hear me from here The whites of Ameera's eyes gain a purple glow again and she whispers in a singsong Gudruz dar morakh focusing on the frightful memory.
Ameera moves close to the door, next to Pyrrha, and crouches down in a three point stance, ready to slip back out if the boys don't stop playing.

Running a few feet with the slope of the floor to yet another door, Baric thrusts into the wight with his rapier, seeking to shred the creatures muscles, tendons, and motor functions.

As Ameera summons her magic and chants in her foreign tongue, Pyrrah steps aside and knocks another arrow. When it's secure, she pops back out and takes aim at the Wight that had shredded Devanis's arm or the skeleton if it is within sight. She draws the strung back, inhales deeply, slowly, and then let's the arrow fly towards its target.

As Erran recovers from the recoil of the skeleton's entrance, he sees Baric engage with another wight,

You'll be no use to anyone if you stay and be slaughtered here, if he wants to die so soon, so be it.

Erran thinks to himself, but pushes the guilt of his selfishness aside as the undead juggernaut advances toward him, "Perhaps we shall dance another day, my dear!" He jests to the skeleton before turning tail to the creature and making way for the door.
OOC:
Disengage action, then acrobatics check to get through the door.

Rolls

Acrobatics - (1d20+3)
