Story I: The Rift

Once Ameera steps aside, Erran takes to the platform. With a single smash of his boot the door goes swinging wide open. Now with more of a look into the room than just the left side of it, you can see that it is not - or at least was not - just a hallway. The left side of the room, as you saw, contains a series of wall-crypts The right side, however, seems to have been affected by the same pressures that caused the cave-in in the room you still stand in. There is no stone wall on the right side, but a large pile of dirt, crumbled stone and other such rubble. The fact that the right side is not a straight line leads you to believe this wasn't just a hallway; there are points where columns still stand - or just the beginnings of them - that may have once supported a larger room.

About 60 feet down - for those that can see it - is another metal door. It appears broken and smashed on the top-right corner, giving a glimpse of another stone wall of a room on the other side.

I crossed over to join the party on the previous page... I would be towards the back though.

OOC:
Fixed! I just forgot to move people around since the last edit to the map. Mostly just making the map for the room reveal. :)

Ameera pushes in shoulder to shoulder with Erran. "Well done! You impressed me once more, Erran of Clan Escolant. Let's go see if the next door is another challenge worthy of a verse in Baric's epic. Zubie, please go over to the door across the way and wait for us there. Let me know if you see anything dangerous." She unwraps Zubie's deadly tail from around her neck."And please keep yourself out of sight."
After the Imp enters the room, Ameera follows in 10-15 feet up to the first pile of rubble. She keeps as far from the wooden crypt covers as the space allows.

The imp flies off of Ameera's shoulder, vanishing from sight moments after.

OOC:
Whew, okay, thanks again for the patience yesterday. It'll probably be easier once I'm actually moving on Monday, since I can at least post from my phone while my wife drives.

"We don't see anything dangerous, come on, lets go."
OOC:
Does she know you will be playing while she is doing the driving?

Devanis nods. Shall I take point again? Behind Zubie, I mean.
Dec 25, 2016 10:03 pm
Erran recomposes himself, stepping aside for Ameera as he tightens a few buckles and straps on his torso.

"After you, my good sir."

Devanis leads the way through the collapses room he eyes the wall crypts warily.

The wall-crypts appear to be mostly intact, and there does not seem to be audible movement on the other side of them, which is likely a relief. However, as Devanis gets about halfway through, the deep sounding of what might be a large bell or gong rumbles beneath your feet. The floor gently shakes and your insides vibrate to the reverberating bass as it sounds three consecutive times over the course of the next few seconds. Following the ringing, the sound of muffled, incoherent yelling can be heard from some chamber beneath you.

Seraph groans, "That was loud!"
Dec 27, 2016 10:22 am
Devanis crouches low and turns to the others with a "What, I didn't do anything!" expression on his face. He looks around if he's set off an alarm mechanism of some sort. "We need to move! NOW!" he hisses, and hurries to cover the rest of the distance to the far end.
OOC:
Are there any visible stairs or trapdoors, anything that might indicate access to this chamber from below?

Ameera moves toward the metal door to the north, but stops at the first column as she feels the vibration of the bell ringing. "What the...?" She looks east to see if there is any other passage out, or into this chamber.

Perception for any passages in the rubble, and how far they go

Devanis arrives at the far end of the room, by the broken door. He can overhear the unseen flapping of Zubie's wings beside him. At this position there is no apparent pathway to floors above or below. The missing corner on the door gives him a glimpse inside, however...

The deep ringing notes begin to fade, but before they pass into memory, three more resounding booms echo from below, just as before. The yelling persists; the tone is reminiscent of someone giving an empassioned, rallying speech.
OOC:
Just a reminder that I am posting from my phone this week! Sorry for any typos.

Pyrrah closes her eyes and strains her ears, desperately trying to make out the words being spoken. Though her heart is pounding, urging her to run forward, she does her best to focus in. If there was information to be had, she couldn't let fear get in the way. Not again.

"Guys! There is something over here! "

Pyrrah jogs forward to the second column and quickly steps behind it, temporarily disappearing from view into a hidden tunnel before popping her head out a moment later.

"It goes down pretty steep, but it might be a way out. "

"More likely, it'll take us straight to that gong and whoever's ringing it" Devanis calls back, but approaches despite his own warning. "But I'd much rather be the hunter than the hunted, wouldn't you?" he adds through gritted teeth.

Ameera moves up to peer down into the tunnnel Flare has found and whispers "Your assuming that the gong is some sort of alarm, but it could just be coincidence. They may not be hunting us....yet. But I agree, we need to know what is going on and not be on the run. Zubie can go look, staying invisible. Staying hidden is one of my many talents, and in a pinch I can disappear too. Let's have a couple of our quietest lead the pack and find a spot to see what going on."

After looking into the tunnel, Ameera turns to Devanis and says "Hey did you notice all those little holes in the dirt along the cave in? Do you think they are something to worry about?"
