Hi!

Hi! I’m Gwen (she/her). I’m a philosophy professor studying the 17th C. I’m also a tabletop game designer, a bisexual transgender woman, and a mom. I’m into left politics, SF/F, games, punk, and coffee. I’m also sober.

In the tabletop RPG world, I am a game designer and publisher. I have won two ENnie awards, written multiple best seller titles, and am best known for writing Ancestry & Culture: An Alternative to Race in 5e. Most of my work is D&D related, but I have published content In World of Darkness, Savage Worlds, Cypher System, PbtA, and Lasers & Feelings.

As a player, my interests are eclectic. I play a lot of D&D still, but love to play PbtA games, as well as other systems. Indeed, I jump at the chance to play non-D&D games! Some favorites include Monsterhearts, Trail of Cthulhu, Apocalypse World, Masks, Night Witches, Thirsty Sword Lesbians, Eat the Reich, Girl by Moonlight, Draw Steel!, Eclipse Phase, Stars Without Number, Dungeon Crawl Classics, and more. I play in person, on Roll20, as well as Play-By-Post on Myth-Weavers, and elsewhere.

Gwen, welcome to GP! What a resume! However, two things jump out at me: your interest in the (fascinating) 17th century, and punk! Those are two of my own interests, though I have to admit I haven't done a lot with 17th century studies since grad school and a former career in archaeology -- many years ago.

Punk: I trust you're digging the new Lambrini Girls album...

Hooray for the 17th century! I work on mostly European philosophers from the period. My first book was on Spinoza. As for punk, I have a confession to make: I hadn’t listened to the Lambrini girls until now and I like them! So thanks for the recommendation!

Philosophy is a lot deeper than the stuff I was into! It's a great time period for games IMO. And glad to help with the LGs. They're some angry young women! Let me know if you want more recommends, I've been digging deep into the UK and AUS punk scenes the last year or so...
