Eugen takes the opportunity of the distraction and darts from his hiding spot, across the room unnoticed and through the gap where the rock was.

As Lady Bishop hears a loud clattering away from their location, she lets out the breath she has been holding and shoves the candle stub into the ex-soldier's hand. He would have a better chance of keeping it safe from the creature if anything should...

She shakes her head and attempts to stealthily run towards the opening the creature has left behind. She grips her pen knife in one hand and the parasol in the other, knuckles white under her ivory glove and bandaged hand. She prays that the noise and smell of the cadaver are enough to hide the group's attempt to skirt around whatever terrible monster had appeared.
OOC:
Am I allowed to ask the Keeper if this is a roll that strongly encourages a push attempt?

Let’s see what the others do first…

Thomas takes the candle and swiftly pockets it. He knows the need for patience, and he knows the time to act. He moves with as much care as he can in the dark, making his way toward the newly opened door the creature appeared from. He desperately hopes there is something of use in the new room, some tool, some way out. Anything.

He has no light, but he memorized the room as best he could earlier. He faces the way the eyes emerged from and counts his paces until he is through the newly opened doorway.

Edit:
OOC:
I just noticed Lady Bishop gave Thomas the candle, so I have amended his actions to reflect that. Would Lady Bishop give him the matches as well to free her hands? If she does he'd take those as well and shove them into his pocket before moving.

Robert imagined that the distraction orchestrated by him must have done its job. Wondering and weighing the risk, he crept out of his hiding place and tried to sneak towards the entrance once again.

OOC:
Just to clarify, @Stalker05 do you mean the entrance to the tomb (through the crawl space) or the newly opened doorway ?

Just saw your post on Discord, so assume you're following everyone else :)

With whatever it is distracted momentarily, you are able to slip from the antechamber and through the newly removed stone block. As soon as you get through, whatever it is is on the move again, knocking things aside in its path.

You are still in complete darkness so can't see anything in the room you are in, though you feel something hard and crunchy underfoot.

Lady Bishop does her best to not yelp as her feet crunch upon whatever is beneath them. She really hopes that the creature's knocking of things and movement has allowed the group to escape. In her haste to move away from this unnatural thing, she forgot to give Thomas the matches as well. As she hears others move nearby, she digs in her reticule and retrieves the matches, pushing them towards whoever comes nearby. Hopefully it's Mr. Ackerman.

In the haste, Robert tried his level best to crawl away from his previous hiding position. Who knows if he succeeded or not? But the strange crunching sound that he heard from the ground beneath didn't give him much confidence. He started to feel for the wall and reach one corner of the room he was in.

Eugen tries not to move too much. The crunchy sounds seem loud in his ears, and he doesn't want the thing to turn around. With one hand, he fumbles in the dark to get an idea of the room and hopes to find something they could use to block the entry.
Mar 10, 2025 9:11 pm
Robert feels his way along the wall to his left, more large pieces of detritus on the ground almost making him trip, until he gets to the far corner, some ten feet away.

Eugen feels to his right and finds a wall that runs south, also experiencing something under foot.
Mar 11, 2025 7:50 am
Thomas moves deeper, trying to discover if this is a chamber, or a new tunnel.
Mar 11, 2025 2:57 pm
OOC:
Is Thomas keeping to the walls like the others or stumbling about in the open space?
Mar 11, 2025 7:52 pm
OOC:
Thomas has his knife in his right hand, so he's moving on the left side of the room with his left hand on the wall and just follows that as far as he can or until something happens. I'm not sure if he got there before Dr. Whittaker.
Mar 11, 2025 8:59 pm
"Thomas? What if you use the dynamite to get rid of that ... Thing?", whispers Eugen.
OOC:
Doing something to keep it going.

Do we hear, where Thingy is walking to? Any direction we can assume?
Mar 11, 2025 9:24 pm
Robert stood still and held his breath, trying to lay still for sometime. In the darkness, where vision had no sway, maybe the hearing would help his senses. He strained to hear any odd footstep sound or different breathing, something bestial and not human-like.

Listen vs 40 - (1d100)

The others move past her too quickly for Lady Bishop to determine who is Mr. Ackerman. She keeps the matches in her hand as she attempts to move forward. She puts out her dominant right hand and feels for a wall or something to guide her around the room, looking for a new opening to go through.
Mar 11, 2025 10:25 pm
Eugen listens for signs of the creature's approach, but it doesn't appear to be getting closer, but there is a racket as it knocks things about, perhaps searching for you.

Robert hears that too.

Thomas follows the left (north) wall and joins Robert in the corner, then Clara joins the two of them.
Mar 12, 2025 3:14 am
Lady Bishop recognizes Mr. Ackerman's cigarette scent and pushes the matches still in her hand into his free one. Then, she proceeds to continue around the corner, following the wall, still looking for an opening. She would like to get as far away from the frightening creature as possible.
